Plankton finds them and uses them to power his giant robot and robot army and takes the safe with the Krabby Patty secret formula. He also takes the map to the key and the two copies of it that opens the safe. Spongebob and his friends have to stop him, defeat his robot minions and family members, retrieve the batteries, and find the three keys before he does to get the formula back...
Cons:
• I can't even think of anything positive to say about the story in this game. Even for a Spongebob game, this game has a generic and basic story. It's such an unoriginal story that that's elements from other Spongebob stories and just makes a half-assed one.
• The ending is ripped off from another Spongebob game... hmm... and it's a terrible one.
Gameplay: The game has a number of weapons you can purchase and upgrade. The game can be played solo or with four-player co-op (five on WII-U) with the playable characters include SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, Sandy and Mr. Krabs.
Pros:
• The free fall sections in between levels are a bit of fun and adds a little bit of freshness when they show up.
• I really like the idea all the weapons are themed from the show and seeing the models and names is actually pretty cool.
Cons:
• The gameplay is horribly repetitive. From the moment you start, your pretty much going to see what the whole game is like.
• The enemies are really simplistic and are just more Plankton robots which we've seen too many times now.
• The levels you play in the game are the exact same levels, just set in different times of the day.
• Way too short. I beat beat it in just 3 hours which is just a disgrace. You can try and get the achievements in this game to make it longer, but honestly you will be torturing yourself.
• The four bosses in this game are the exact same bosses used 4 times and with slightly different moves... That's more pure laziness.
• The guns don't feel different from each other besides the sounds and way they fire. But your honestly just better upgrading the first gun to the max. All the characters have the exact same guns. And if you want to switch to a different character with your upgrades, well tough s**t! You have to upgrade your weapons in individually with each character which is dumb.
• It's way too easy. Offers no trouble to complete it.
• A smaller complaint is the options don't allow you to turn off controller vibration whch always annoys the f**k out of me.
Sound and Music:
Pros:
• Each voice actor is present in this game for all the characters in it which is a little bonus and once again you a decent job in their roles (after reviewing so many Spongebob games this is tiring to say now).
Cons:
• The mouth syncing in the game is horrendous. This game came out in 2013... think about that for a minute.
• Some of the original music is alright to listen to. But of course this game messes with that by playing the music at random, so more often then not it doesn't suite the levels at all. Also dislike how they use so much stock music from the show.
• Characters will repeat lines, over and over again... 2013 everyone.
Performance and Graphics:
Pros:
• The CGI cutscenes are well done. Probably the only thing that is professionally done in this game, but they are done to a decent standard at least, even if there is only 2 of them.
• The game also ran well and didn't slow down at all.
Cons:
• The in-game cutscenes though... dreadful.
• Terrible graphics, terrible textures that look like PS2. I think you get it.
• The character models look worse then every other Spongebob game before this one... f**k this s**t going to the verdict now...
Verdict: Playing these Spongebob games, I've played some bad ones, but I think they had some redeemable qualities for at least fans to appreciate them a little bit. Plankton's Robotic Revenge though is a must avoid. Maybe, just maybe if your an achievement hunter you can get all the achievements easily, even if it will be painful. This game is really close to a complete abomination (1 out of 10), but I think just the fact it runs well and it has some cool little things in their I can just consider it terrible.
