    Got the game based on reviews. Liked the game itself, but found it a bit too difficult for my tastes. There is a fine line between challenging and frustrating. I'd recommend the game to people who enjoy intense puzzle-solving mechanics. Certainly worth downloading the demo!

    I exaggerated on my last review of this game. It is a great game, the game play is good, the visual is incredible, the history is simple, the enemies are awesome. But the game has some problems that is hard not to notice, such as: when in multiplayer, only the first player can buy things and the camera is focused on him; when you die, you start all over again; sometimes, 5 lives is notI exaggerated on my last review of this game. But the game has some problems that is hard not to notice, such as: when in multiplayer, only the first player can buy things and the camera is focused on him; when you die, you start all over again; sometimes, 5 lives is not enough, some enemies and traps take more than 1 life of you, and there's nothing on the levels to regenerate a life; when you get hit by something, you stay too much time unconscious and in this little frame of time, someone or something can kill you.… Expand

    A 2d platformer the aim of Spelunky is simply to make it to the bottom of each stage. Of course things are not quite that simple and the game will very quickly begin to throw all manner of enemies and challenges your way. Fortunately the controls are excellent meaning deaths always feel like they’re your fault rather than the fault of the game.

Fortunately the controls are excellent meaning deaths always feel like they’re your fault rather than the fault of the game.

    What will put some people off however is the level of difficulty. Much like platformers from the 8-bit era and earlier every time you die in Spelunky you have to start right from the beginning again. The fact that the levels are randomly generated each time does go some way to mitigating any frustration this may cause, particularly early on in proceedings, but many people will feel the game crosses the line from challenging into downright unfair as it progresses. Still I’d recommend to anyone to give Spelunky a try for themselves.    … Expand

    Nice clean visuals that may look childish, but it hides a devilish hard game. Addictive and fun in coop with "accidents" of knocking you're friends in to lava.

    A good and punishing rogue-like which is just as easy to hate as it is to love. As you explore the random levels this really challenging 2-D platformer will make you cry and laugh at the same time. You’ll need high concentration and a big chunk of patience to have fun with this one. Spelunky is just as fun on the PC as it was one year ago on the Xbox 360, and the gaming masochists’ very best friend.

    A highly addictive and ruthless (in a good way) 2D-platformer with an endless supply of random roquelike-levels. You won't beat this one in a hurry. [Sept 2012]
