"South Park: Tenorman's Revenge" is a XBLA 2D classic platforming game. The game begins with a narrator, in other world, telling the legend of Eric, described as "Awesome and Cool," like a legendary hero, who has an evil half-brother (the Tenorman of the title), who steals, in one tragic night the hard drive of Erics Xbox 360 - Eric and his friends embark on a journey to rescue the HD,"South Park: Tenorman's Revenge" is a XBLA 2D classic platforming game. The game begins with a narrator, in other world, telling the legend of Eric, described as "Awesome and Cool," like a legendary hero, who has an evil half-brother (the Tenorman of the title), who steals, in one tragic night the hard drive of Erics Xbox 360 - Eric and his friends embark on a journey to rescue the HD, starting at Southpark in the year 2546.

The graphics are very nice, made with a colorful and lively style of the series but with more emphasis on the details of the scenarios, having HD graphics: the screens can have up to four of the main characters of the show, at the same time, and the stages have a lot going on at the same time.

The music and sounds are hilarious, with a good selection of heroic musics to show the actions on stage, and other ironics ones that suit what is happening (eg: elevator music in Loadings). The sounds and voiceovers are perfect, with classic jokes and ironies that we know, besides dubbing with the actors who do the voices in the original series.

The stages have a classic gaming platform in about 80% of them, and an exploration gameplay in about 10%: at many point the gameplay reminds very much of the classic Mario, with the character crossing areas between elevators and stairs, with doors leading to alternate parts of the stages. In the game, you collect the called Time Cores, that are the collectibles of the phases, and that unblocks more stuff in the game.

Many parts of the stages can only be accessed by other characters, using their specific powers, which highlights the particularity of the cooperative gameplay. The enemies are defeated by jumping up in their heads, revealing, for example, in the first stages, which they are robots, like the Terminators, with metal skeletons beneath the human appearance (these are the called Gingerbots) - later on you can use several weapons to defeat them and the bosses.

Moreover, when they are killing, and scattered through the phases, there are the called Time Particles, in the shape of atoms, which are the currencies of the game. Your character life is represented by hearts on top, which vanish when you are hit by enemies, and you have a limited number of lives (5). The game stages are usually quite large, and many parts of them, more precise jumps are needed, which is a little difficult. As in any classic game platform in the end of each one stage, there is a boss.

You can play with up to four people in coop, online or offline, each with a character from the series and each with its specific power: Eric can destroy walls, Stan can play soccer balls to activate levers, Kyle emits an electric field, and can cross force fields and disable robots and Kenny can jump higher than the other characters.

Unfortunately, if you're not playing with (a full set of) friends (local of online), will have to restart the stage with another character to access things that are open for specific characters, since you can not switch characters on stage (one of my criticisms).

Overall this is a great platform game for 800MS points (a fair price), which uses the hilarious characters and jokes from the show, recommended for those who like the classical genre and the ones whom are fan of South Park - featuring a solid gameplay, Old-School style, which is not always easy, the game has his negative points in some jumping and dodging parts (which are not always easy) and the need to have more than one player to play and finds all the stuff and areas on the stages. My score: 7.5 / 10.0.

It's boring with little to do. If you have 4 players, you might be able to have a solid 20 minute gaming session but it will soon die out as you switch to another game. On your own? It's horribly boring and the laughs are few and far between.

Not what I'd call crap, nor will it win any awards for gameplay and innovation. South park:TR starts off with no intro, no story nothing, you just arrive in the future and begin your story. The premise is basically that you had your hard drive stolen by Scott tenorman, the ginger kid who was fed his parents by cartman as an act of revenge. So the game see's you trying to get it back whilst fighting off multiple ginger robots in this 2d platformer. Personally, I'm loving south park right now so I don't mind this game. It reminds me of the old era of 90s gaming where you jump on enemies to kill them. You play as one of the four characters each with their own ability, cartman can belly flop enemies, Stan can throw a football to stun, Kenny can jump high and Kyle can bypass security systems with his ginger hair. The game originally had you working as just one character I think, each one's unique ability helped them on their own unique path, so for example,to get lo a door, four routes would open up and you would choose the correct one for your character, now since the update you can change the character at will, this sort of takes the challenge out the game now. Graphics are identical to the show and your favourite characters make an appearance in some form. South park isn't brilliant but its a decent enough old school style platformer which will suit fans. Played in short intervals it can be ok and definitely looks better then the upcoming stick of truth RPG Expand

Not as good as the tower defense game but still a decent game and well worth a look in for fans of the series, also quite fun to play with friends online.

Just get some friends around for some local play. In that situation alone, Tenorman's Revenge becomes fully entertaining. [June 2012, p.93]

Four players can cooperate in this Castlevania-like platformer. [July 2012, p.83]

Licensed games get a bad rap, but South Park: Tenorman's Revenge fails in ways far beyond the average cash-in.
