    A true definition of a masterpiece Sonic unleashed is in my opinion the greatest sonic games of all times , while days time stages are the greatest in the whole sonic franchise , the nighttime ones aren't the best , but they still a lot of fun especially when you unlock all of the werehog's skills , the story is amazing , the graphics are superb and the gameplay I spectay ,I could haveA true definition of a masterpiece Sonic unleashed is in my opinion the greatest sonic games of all times , while days time stages are the greatest in the whole sonic franchise , the nighttime ones aren't the best , but they still a lot of fun especially when you unlock all of the werehog's skills , the story is amazing , the graphics are superb and the gameplay I spectay ,I could have never imagined a sonic game will be that historic… Expand

    It is not a bad game!
    Yes, the Werehog is not the best but the soundtrack, the day stages, the over worlds and the story is amazing and the atmosphere is every time right.

Best graphics by far (to this day), best boost gameplay, almost entirely 3D (which is unheard of nowadays), best story easily, best animation, best characterization of Sonic and Eggman, best collectables, best exploration, most ambition in the series, best soundtrack, best level design, best hub worlds, best DLC by far, actual in-game CGI cutscenes that areBest game in the series.     Kinda cool Sonic game, which is pretty rare for such suffering franchise. Werehog gameplay is... interesting, seriously. Modern Sonic + Boost gameplay in Unleashed is the best concidering another boost 3D Sonic games. Eggman land for will be the bst final level from the whole series. Worth to play it even in nowadays.

    The most underrated, and the best game in the franchise. But if you don't think so, you have to agree that this game has the highest budget in the franchise. The werehog isn't that bad as people usually say, you just have to upgrade his combat skills.

Gran Gameplay las fases de dia son todo lo que deberia ser un juego de Sonic con gran diseño de niveles mecanicas y kinestesia buenas. Con batallas de bosses memorables y epicas. Las fases nocturnas tan criticas son un plataformeo bastante solido y que aunque las etapas de batalla pueden ser repetitivas son bastante pasables y entretienen como un hack and slash promedio, nada de lo que los periodistas y criticos se quejaban en su momento.     Simply Sonic Unleashed provides the ultimate sense of speed in the boost 3d sonic games that i love so much. The Werehog's slow platforming and focus on combat provides interesting changes in gameplay and a lot of entertainment in exploration.

    Side quests are present in the beautiful hub worlds you explore and keep yourself indulged in the universe of Unleashed. Sun and Moon medals are    Simply Sonic Unleashed provides the ultimate sense of speed in the boost 3d sonic games that i love so much. The Werehog's slow platforming and focus on combat provides interesting changes in gameplay and a lot of entertainment in exploration.

    Side quests are present in the beautiful hub worlds you explore and keep yourself indulged in the universe of Unleashed. Sun and Moon medals are fun collectables although regretably vital for progression so for a first playthrough may require backtracking for some.

    My only gripe with the game is there is very little in terms of unlockables for completing the game, although this was okay since i just felt satisfaction from doing this myself.

    The story is somewhat good, the graphics make this still one of the best looking sonic games to date, and the day time boost stages are so good i replay them simply for fun to this very day.    … Expand

    There is also the fact that the collection of sun and moon medals is mandatory, so you can access the levels, which is not a very good point either, but because this game has several other very positive points, such as the excellent graphics with beautiful visuals. provided by the hedgehog engine, the great "hub worlds", the cutscenes both in "CGi" and in the game are very well done (especially the intro of the game), the great voice acting of the characters especially the sonic, and a fantastic story containing an epic beginning and an epic and exciting ending make the mistakes the game has almost imperceptible.

    Easily, easily my favorite game of all time. I’ve put probably over 3,000 hours in this game alone, beating it, 100% it, and repeating it. It just gets better every time. So much heart, so much passion, so ahead of it’s time, so fun, so much replay-ability, so heartfelt, so charming, it’s unexplainable the feels I get while experiencing this game. I had never made a meta critic acc,Easily, easily my favorite game of all time. I’ve put probably over 3,000 hours in this game alone, beating it, 100% it, and repeating it. I had never made a meta critic acc, but after the abomination that was Colors ultimate, it just makes me want to see Unleashed at least get recognized, just once. I want my voice to finally be heard about this game, about how it was so disrespected by critics, and by Sega itself. It makes no sense man, it was so ahead of it’s time, and was an EXTREME improvement over 06 (Even though that’s my 3rd fav game in the series behind Unleashed and Heroes). I really hope, if unleashed does get remastered, that it gets the respect it deserves. I hope they don’t ruin the game like they did colors, even if colors was already a severely mediocre title. They need to put their time in a remaster, and put in just as much heart as they did for the original, that would bring me, and many other fans, so much happiness. For the original, easily a 10 out of 10, 100 out of 100, my favorite game of all time. It just brings so much joy, seeing sonic actually be a cool character instead of being a cocky, unfunny, stupid dickhead like he is now. And seeing Sonic Team be ambitious.     What the hell? Why is this game given 6/10? Sonic Unleashed is a pretty solid Sonic game. Starting a new engine made sense because of Sonic 06 flopping (I like the game tho). New hedgehog engine brings Sonic Rush gameplay into 3D and it does it great. Daytime gameplay is fantastic for the first attempt. Story is meh honestly but nothing bad like (Sonic 06 last story flashbacks). TheWhat the hell? Why is this game given 6/10? Sonic Unleashed is a pretty solid Sonic game.     since I loved this game when I grew up with it deserves a 10 and also just because I give it a 10 for my childhood Im not nostalgia blind I did replay this recently and still loved it to pieces! also Sega PORT THIS GAME TO PC PLEASE! EVERYONE WANTS IT!

    there is 2 negative thing tho
    - sometimes the day time stages(normal sonic) are too just they last 1-2 minutes
    -the framerates are really bad sometimes they barley reach 30 and even 15 in some sections in the ps3 version due to the graphics
    -the medals are sometimes hard to find but it provides exploration so its a bit of a mix mix for me. at first i struggled to find the medals but remember to explore the hub and in the night stages as those are the times you have full freedom to look around

Sonic Unleashed is the kind of game that you'd want to get into if you want a world building adventure-esky feel, especially if you are a Sonic fan. This is a spoiler review so am gonna touch up things on the story, game-play, and how the game immerses you into the story line.
    Eggman is at it again with his giant space armada floating in space. Sonic appears out of no where and begins to easily destroy all of Eggman's mechs, Eggman somehow manages to catch the blue blur but this time Sonic has all the emeralds and begins to destroy all hundreds of his space ships. Just when Sonic won, Eggman traps Sonic and drains all the power from the chaos emeralds and uses the energy to fire a massive beam down on earth causing the world to split apart into 7 parts. Causing a God to wake up from his slumber prematurely, thus releasing all of his negative energy into the world. Sonic the Hedgehog accidently absorbs some of the bad energy and turns into the werehog. Eggman sends Sonic flying down on earth along with the drained chaos emeralds. Sonic survives the fall and meets a new little creature which seems to be unconscious. After Sonic wakes the little animal up it seems to have amnesia so Sonic promises to help find its memory and also stop Eggman while his at it. There are plenty of plot twists in the story but I cannot stress how good the game-play is. The game is split into two game play styles. Day stages- when the sun rises up Sonic becomes normal again. Night stages- when the sun goes down Sonic turns into the werehog. The day stages are the highlight of the game and achieves the massive satisfaction of speed and platforming which the entire series is known for. The night comes and Sonic turns into the werehog and his speed is replaced with a much more in depth combat and precise platforming. It is a well designed gimmick which changes what Sonic is known for and while it does break the peace a little bit, it's definitely a fun and well designed game-play style. There are also hub worlds which are fully fleshed out and add dynamics into the world building environment, it works really well. Sonic Unleashed is a blessing to the Sonic franchise and there are many people who would gradually back me up on this, the user ratings tell you why. You can never to wrong with Sonic Unleashed as it is magnificent and enjoyable. It's very immersive and the Visuals/graphics are great, a little too great, the game is amazing!    … Expand

    Sonic unleashed was very under-appreciated and also hated very badly. To the people that hate unleashed, please give the game a second try, it is the best sonic game ever made!

    SEGA should port it to PC and next gen consoles

    I will 100% love the game more and also it will always be my number 1 sonic game ever!

    The music is an absolute banger!

    The werehog stages of exploration is amazing but 1 problem is, its too stretched and also long but hey it doesn't affect my fun time because it is still awesome! Hidden areas in werehog stages is fun! we learn more and more about the stages

    Overall, this game is a mixed bag for me, this game to me is better on revisits when you can ignore the wherehog stages and I can play the daytime stages at max speed with all of the upgrades.

And sonic's jump is way too heavy, and lastly the level design isn't as expansive as I thought it would be, don't get me wrong, this game does have multiple pathways, but they're just very out of the way.
    But my positives are definitely the graphics (I still think this the best looking Sonic game Period), the soundtrack is one of the best soundtracks of the series ever, and the story is kinda ehh, it was very safe compared to the "Last attempt at storytelling."
    But at the end of the day, I like this game. Well most of it anyway. But that shouldn't stop you from enjoying it. I do appreciate this game since this game pretty much helped sonic, and with that we got Colors and Generations later down the line which improved on this game.
    I wouldn't recommend this as your first sonic game though, but if you wanna get back into the franchise as a veteran, than you might like it    … Expand

    Este fue el último Sonic con un presupuesto digno y se nota el dinero puesto. Las cinemáticas son buenísimas, la historia esta bien para un juego de plataformas, la banda sonora es de la p*t@ que lo parió y por último lo más importante, la jugabilidad. Esta es buenísima pero vamos por parte desmintiendo los mitos. 1º los niveles no se pasan con un botón, este mito se propagó por culpa deEste fue el último Sonic con un presupuesto digno y se nota el dinero puesto. Esta es buenísima pero vamos por parte desmintiendo los mitos. 1º los niveles no se pasan con un botón, este mito se propagó por culpa de Sonic FORCES el cual es mediocre y si sufre este problema. Los niveles del Sonic diurno son: vertiginosos, vistosos, técnicos y divertidos.
    2º el Sonic lobo no es malo y eterno. Los niveles Durán de 7 a 15 mins, lo que pasa es que los fans de Sonic solo juegan Sonic y son mas mancos que un discapacitado. La jugabilidad del lobo tiene varios combos y son divertidos, están al nivel de los god of war de PSP y el diseño de los niveles está bien, son divertidos.
    3º eggmanland no es un mal nivel!. Esto lo dicen los mancos, el nivel es uno de los mejores niveles finales que he jugado y solo es superado por la final del 100% del Mario Galaxy 2. ¿El nivel es largo? Si. Dura 25 mins, no 40 o 2 horas como he escuchado por allí.
    4º las medallas son tediosas. No son tediosas, hay que buscar bien (cosa que no le puedes pedir a inútiles como sergieandsegasonic).

    Guys let's be honest this was the last sonic game that Sega actually tried and sonic unleashed did a great job I know Eggman land is a hard stage and the were-hog wasn't needed but this is one of my favorite sonic games but the only thing we need is a port to pc to fix up the frame rates then this game will be the best.

    It's a decent enough stab at Sonic and massively improves over the clearly unfinished 06. But it has 1 main problem and it's not the werehogs gameplay, it's the poor checkpointing and overlong levels the werehog fights through.

    Sonic Unleashed. A very polarizing game amongst fans. Some say it's one of the good Sonic games, others say it's one of the worst. I'd say it's just like the whole theme of the game. Day and night, light and darkness, Sonic and Werehog Sonic. Each have their good parts and bad parts. This game is split into two gameplay segments, daytime Sonic and nighttime Sonic. Daytime is theSonic Unleashed. A very polarizing game amongst fans. Some say it's one of the good Sonic games, others say it's one of the worst. I'd say it's just like the whole theme of the game. Daytime is the considerably better half. Extremely fast boost gameplay, it's in my opinion the fastest we have ever seen Sonic to date. It's super fun and exciting to blaze through stages with exhilarating speed. The game also introduces a leveling system which allows you to level up daytime Sonic's speed meter and ring meter. Allowing you to go faster and hold more rings repsectively. That's about it for daytime Sonic when it comes to leveling. Now for nighttime Sonic. Leveling up Werehog Sonic let's you level several different stats. From combos, health, shields, and unleashed. Combos gives you more attacks. Health let's you take more hits before you die. Unlike daytime Sonic where it's ring based. Shields let you block more attacks and for longer without it breaking. And Unleashed let's you stay in Unleashed form longer. Which the form itself let's you deal more damage and move faster for a short time. During the actual gameplay segments the game slows down drastically, both in gameplay and preformance at times. You control Werehog Sonic which the game turns into an action game. You then spend the next 20-40 minutes mashing X or Y until you get to the end of the stage. You also solve light puzzles and platforming. Which I don't like. Controlling Sonic while platforming in these stages makes me super nervous since grabbing onto ledges is a bit finicky and your jump isn't the best either. I don't hate these stages as much as others but I feel like they were added for a few reasons. One is because I feel like Sega looked at what was popular at the time and saw that God of War and Devil May Cry were doing well so they decided to mimic that. And my other reason is because they needed a new mechanic to pad out the game and the Werehog fit that role perfectly. There are also a few other things that pad out the lenght of the game. Such as needing 120 Sun Medals and 80 Moon Medals to beat the game. Eggman Land being an hour long and so on. The most likely reason for all these things was more than likely the short development time this game had. Coming out two years after Sonic The Hedgehog 2006 this game was more than likely quickly made to try and get Sega back on their feet after the disaster of 06. But looking at it from that perspective. It's quite impressive what Sega did in about two years of development time. The world itself is pretty neat and diverse. Covering many cultures we don't see all to often in media. Each stage and is based around the theme of the segment of the world you are at. I especially love the music from each of the places. That's one good thing Sonic will always be known for. No matter how bad the game the music will always be better. But, the music is super great. The Werehog gets more chill variations of the daytime themes, with it's music being more jazzy to match the slower gameplay while Sonic has more upbeat energetic music to match the faster gameplay. My personal favorite theme is Shamar at night. The story is alright. Eggman fires a laser that breaks apart the earth, in hopes of releasing Dark Gaia, so he can use it to take over the world and build his own amusement park in his image. Sonic goes to stop him as usual, but Eggman drains the power of the chaos emeralds, turning Sonic into Werehog Sonic. And the story goes on from there. I think it's fine. There's a twist near the end which isn't too big of a surprise. But it's fine. Overall I think Sonic Unleashed is a very strange experimental game. Stuck in this weird limbo of being a good and bad Sonic game. It has its good moments and bad ones. But I don't think it's as bad as everyone gives it credit for. I would recommend giving it a try if you have the chance… Expand

For many that's what they want in games but I go for at least some brainpower. So this game for me is much better than old sonic. Unfortunately the game is still pretty shallow and other games focus on the dynamics better. That said this is a pretty decent offering. I found the graphics pretty decent and the game had some story to give you enough repetitivity (zombie numbness) breaks. If you had to be stuck with this as your only game this could keep you entertained for a long time although the game is pretty shallow. I guess this point brings me to the rating, E for everyone, no matter your age I do think this is a game anyone can pick up and play and enjoy on some level whereas classic sonics were more suited to a niche crowd.… Expand

I’ll never get bored playing this game - never! However, it can get a lot,e difficult having to go back and get the required amount of levels to proceed onto the next stage.

The Nighttime stages get a lot of flack, however there is a good amount of depth to the combat, like tapping and holding the attack buttons for different strengths in the attacks, a sheildThis is a super ambitious game. There is so much passion thrown into this game. The daytime stages are fun to play and memorizing the best paths to follow is so satisfying when returning to the stages! The Nighttime stages get a lot of flack, however there is a good amount of depth to the combat, like tapping and holding the attack buttons for different strengths in the attacks, a sheild and dodge roll mechanic, and the unleashed mode. Leveling up your combat is rewarding as it's fun to replay levels with new and stronger moves to destroy everything in your path.

    Yes, some of the latter levels drag on too long, especially Eggman Land, but overall the nighttime stages are a joy to play. I believe more traditional platforming can work along side the fast paced modern Sonic. Even the classics had moments of trafitional platforming Sonic is not just about going fast. And you can go fast as the Werehog, jumping while pulling yourself up to a ledge transfers your momentum into a kump, which can be comboed into other maneuvers. The amount of side content on display here is impressive as well. This game is long for a Sonic game, but it also feels very rewarding to play. The sun and moon medal gates are annoying, but just make sure you explore as much as possible. It doesn't excuse the pace breaking, but it can be mitigated if you take the time tk explore these vast levels.

    Overall, I love Sonic Unleashed, iI feel it was unfairly reviewed at launch, but has aged better than a lot of other Sonic games. It looks great, has an amazing soundtrack, a decent story that isn't too serious, but not too goofy, and so much effort and passion into bernging the world of Sonic Unleashed alive!    … Expand

Another thing about the werehog is that he has RPG elements. This allows him to upgrade his life bar, his strength to become stronger, his combat to learn new moves, his shield to make that stronger (I wouldn't upgrade it until near the end of the game) and his unleash mode to make that last longer. His unleashed mode makes him faster, stronger and invincible. Daytime sonic also has RPG elements too. One to upgrade his speed and the other to increase his boost bar. And finally, the hub worlds. The hub worlds are beautiful. The stages are inspired from different countries here on earth. Like Greece, Italy, Africa, Antarctica, China, Saudi Arabia and tropical islands. There are medals in hub worlds as well. They are more1 slow than stages. Here you can chat to the locals and buy stuff from the shop. Sonic unleashed is the best game I have ever played and the best looking game too.… Expand

    Good things about this game!

    4) ONE OF THE BEST BOSSES IN SONIC HISTORY! Omg, this game had a boss called Perfect dark Gaia, and I will say, it is scary as hell, but it was so epic to fight this boss. The Level music was amazing and it was just great.

    Bad things.

    1) Night time levels. These night time levels were kinda painful, it took very long. It was hard. And U will die easily, if u were careful.

    2) Moon and sun medals. These medals made us annoyed, we had to replay missions to get these medals to unlock certain locations.

    3) Eggman land... This level was meant to make Gamers swear and rage. It was long! About like, idk 50 Minutes long! U will easily die, and then there impossible enemies to beat.

    But overall, I love this game and it will always be in my heart    … Expand

    When i first played this game i was scare for the reviews and specially for the werehog, but at the end of my playtrough, i really enjoyed the game and the werehog wasn't that bad, actually it was very fun in my opinion.     While I did enjoy the werehog for providing a break from the fast-paced boost, I feel if Sonic Team refined the beat-em-up    While this game isn't bad by any means, it isn't perfect either. The OST is great (this is very normal for Sonic games btw), the graphics are beautiful, the locations and characters are flowing with life and the levels are pretty fun too (The DLCs are a hit or miss).

    so i went to my local pets store and bought a leather collar and leash... boy will i tell you what - this game is horrible. the leather collar is cold when first putting it on and being put on a leash was a weird experience, i did enjoy when alone but when brought into public people looked at me and my mommy like i was weird or something..?? people walking by called me gay.

The Graphics, the Music, the Gameplay (Werehog plays normally, all who hates him yells "AAWW MY GOD HE'S SLOW" but most of them like Adventure games wich had REALLY long and tedious treasure hunting levels.     Too bad it didn't get the praise it deserved at the time, only now people started to understand what a masterpiece Unleashed is. At least this is better that nothing.
    And for all the people gave it a negative review, well, if you can't play a Sonic game then don't. It's only your problem. Go play some stupid interactive movies instead. Just sayin.
    In conclusion - do not listen to the braindead people when making an opinion about Sonic Unleashed, go and try it for yourself, and if you didn't like it doesn't mean the game's bad, it means only that you don't like this type of games.    … Expand

    Sonic Unleashed is one of the best 3d sonic experiences we got by far. The visuals are terrific with settings based on real world locations, a great lighting engine, and aesthetically pleasing scenarios that add much more to the experience. The hub worlds are very vivid and add to the world traveling theme of the game, where you can explore the beautiful valleys and cities, talk withSonic Unleashed is one of the best 3d sonic experiences we got by far. The visuals are terrific with settings based on real world locations, a great lighting engine, and aesthetically pleasing scenarios that add much more to the experience. The hub worlds are very vivid and add to the world traveling theme of the game, where you can explore the beautiful valleys and cities, talk with cartoony humans from all over the world that have interesting side stories and missions, and a lot more. The stages are divided between day time and night time stages. In the day stages you take control over sonic and speed trough levels that are mostly based on reaction skills. In the night stages, sonic transforms into a "werehog", which leads to a slower paced gameplay focused on combat, platforming and minor puzzles. I understand this isn't what people would expect for a sonic game, but from a techinical point of view, it's pulled off very well and gives a good balance to the gameplay. The werehog has an interesting combat system, with a huge arsenal of combos and other skills, that can be upgraded or unlocked, and the later levels do get pretty challenging with the platforming and fighting, even trought i thing it has too much of those segments where you have to balance on "tigh ropes" and his levels can get way too long at times. But overall it's your above-average beat'em up platformer. The story is also interesting, with a more serious tone but also more light hearted moments and amazing cgi's. The fighting music from the night stages get too repetitive but other than that, the soundtrack is great. I found the boss fights to be very creative and use the game's mechanics very well, except maybe for the fight with gaia colossus vs. dark gaia, which requires some weird timing...guess you have to play to understand. As far as my english skills go, I don't think I can elaborate on more than this(I also don't want this review to be too long), but sonic unleashed altrhough far from perfect does a lot of things right, and feels like a well-polished sonic game that you should give a try.… Expand

    A shame the day stages of this game had to be drageed down by the night stages. But even then it's still a preety good game with and interesting story, great graphics and great character/moster designs.

    Sonic Unleashed is an average Sonic game, with strange things like Dark Gaia, Sonic the Werehog, but averall it's a good game, no regrets.

    Excelente jogo que muita gente não deu atenção e hoje voltam a jogá-lo por conta dos últimos lançamentos da SEGA. Tem um enredo maravilhoso digno de um Sonic Adventure, ótima jogabilidade, excelente dificuldade, ótima trilha sonora e ótimos gráficos. Infelizmente a SEGA não sabe mais fazer jogos do Sonic Moderno.

    This game is quite undervalued by the metascore, and shows that the specialized press does not really know what rating to assign to the sonic games, since this is the basis to create sonic generations. It should have a higher note, simply because it is base. Also because it's not a bad game, we might even consider it pretty good.

    As much as I disliked lumbering through levels as Sonic’s hulky Werehog, I disliked hunting through the hub worlds looking for coins even more. Sega, if you really want to fix Sonic, the first thing you should do is stop trying to fix him.
