Sniper: Ghost Warrior isn't flawless, mainly due to a sub-par technical production and some mediocre run-and-gun shooting sections; nevertheless, the developers managed to bring us a very involving and atmospheric game, suited to everyone who has always been charmed by the sniper profession.
-
Sometimes it isn't a bad thing to be a one trick pony, especially when that trick is as well executed as it is here.
-
Sniper – Ghost Warrior is a really good game with a cool atmosphere. Some points are a bit ugly, like the shadows or the way some enemies shoot you without even seeing you. Overall is it an okay game for this genre.
-
Ghost Warrior is a bit like a basically excellent rough diamond, that no one wanted to polish any further. It's got good ideas and stunning visuals, but nowadays, that alone just isn't enough to be able to keep up with the competition.
-
Nice graphics but lackluster story and gameplay.
-
This is a FPS with an original mechanic, which tests our patience when solving the compromised situations we will find through the game. But some flaws in its visuals and AI prevent Sniper Ghost Warrior to become one of the leading titles of the market.
-
Sniper: Ghost Warrior is released as an interesting first-person shooter, with stunning visuals and a cool cinematographic style, but there isn't enough depth in the story and gameplay.
-
Sniper Ghost Warrior screams budget title unfortunately, and whilst there's some good ideas thrown into the pot, the execution and levels of polish let the game down.
-
Poor AI and insane difficulty gets between you and the sniping in Sniper: Ghost Warrior.
-
Official Xbox Magazine UKMuch scope for improvement. [Sept 2010, p.89]
-
Official Xbox MagazineEnemy A.I. is ludicrously accurate and all-seeing. [Sept 2010, p.85]
-
However well it might model the experience of killing with deadly precision, Sniper: Ghost Warrior suffers from a barrage of technical and design mishaps that make it hard to recommend wholeheartedly. If you've been hard up for a shooter with precisely this sort of narrow focus, it's worth a look, especially given the budget price, so long as you temper your expectations.
-
Sniper: Ghost Warrior suffers from far too many little bugs and annoyances to make it a recommendable game.
-
Technical issues make the single player mode frustrating. Multi-player mode is generic.
-
A flawed sniper game that mixes nice graphics with repetitive gameplay, poor AI and a technological mess. Sniper: Ghost Warrior is pretty average overall.
-
Hopefully, City Interactive can bring something more fleshed out to the table next time.
-
The graphics are surprisingly good for a budget title, in spite of some sloppy animation and chunky shadows, but they can't distract much from a ho-hum script, an utterly generic plot centered around regime-change and drug-running on a fictional South American island, and lifeless missions populated by soldiers who've mastered firing 90 degrees the wrong way and still connecting-all of which make the game's campaign feel padded at only 10 hours long.
-
Even though this is a dedicated sniper game, it is still more fun to take your enemies down with the sniper rifle in Crysis. Sniper: Ghost Warrior just isn't all that fun and the perfect sniper game is yet to be seen.
-
City Interactive misses the shot.
-
Unfortunately, Sniper is a "meh" experience with a very limited appeal; gamers with extreme patience and a passion for sniper rifles might enjoy themselves.
-
Sniper: Ghost Warrior starts off very convincing but in a short amount of time all the good things in this game will fade away. You shouldn't even get this game if the store clerk gave you money to take it home.
-
X-ONE Magazine UKWe've seen all of Sniper: Ghost Warrior's tricks before, and in far superior games. [Issue#62,p.88]
-
Despite a well thought gameplay, Sniper Ghost Warrior is flawed by imperfections that sap little by little our patience and forbearance.
-
Games Master UKUnfairness and all-around cruddiness negate the fun of long distance malice. [Oct 2010, p.86]
-
games(TM)Despite glaring issues with aliasing and shaders, Sniper is a technically adept game. [Issue#99, p.126]
-
Without the AI and stealth problems, it might be a decent, if extremely derivative, shooter. As it is now, you're better off skipping this one.
-
Tiny price or not, there are flaws every game should avoid. Starting with bugs, and other gameplay approximations that spawn frustration, when they are not simply getting the player plain angry. And as you no doubt have guessed, Sniper Ghost Warrior has all those flaws. Even for 40 euros, I'd recommend one less game in your collection, but more money to buy the next real one, which will be undoubtedly be better. After all, it's not like quality First Person Shooters with an enjoyable sniping experience are an unrealistic expectation to have for upcoming action games.
-
The game is suffering from an identity crisis as it cannot decide wether to be a standard first person shooter or a game that focuses on sniping and stealth combat. Low production values and sloppy design doesn´t exactly help either.
-
Xbox World 360 Magazine UKRotten sniper slop with flimsy Call of Duty-esque levels glued onto the side. [Oct 2010, p.94]
-
Sniper: Ghost Warrior did tickle a sweet spot with it's HUD for the sniper scoop, but the rest of the game is quite mediocre and painfully short.
-
Its sights are set on being a brave new kind of shooter, but this misses every target but its own feet.
-
Sniper: Ghost Warrior starts of quite good, but after an hour or so you'll through the game in the bin because of an impossible mission. Everything the game did well before that suddenly doesn't count anymore.
-
Edge MagazineGlitchy. [Sept 2010, p.99]
-
A frightening lack of originality, uninspired objectives and a shedload of technical issues make Sniper one of the worst shooters this generation.
-
It was a chore to finish the slim four-hour campaign, and if I weren't reviewing it, I would have tossed the disc-along with more than a few controllers-through my window in frustration within the first hour.
-
Sniper: Ghost Warrior is a terrible FPS.
-
By favouring tired run-and-gun scenarios over actual sniping gameplay, you're left with a technically inept entry in the most over-populated gaming genre around. Show some mercy, put one in the back of its head, and leave it for the vultures.
-
It's awful. I'd rather play Rogue Warrior.
-
Brilliant sniping mechanic; too bad you're spending most of your time fending off the poor game design in the sea of nauseating textures.
