Mar 19, 2012Silent Hill HD Collection reminds adults that, like children, they have deep, irrational fears.
-
Mar 22, 2012If you've been patiently waiting for the ultimate version of Silent Hill 2 and/or 3, this is it. What it lacks in extras, it more than makes up for in some of the best visual upgrades I've seen in a re-release and some truly fantastic new voice work.
-
Mar 30, 2012Whether you're a Silent Hill aficionado or someone who's been patiently waiting for the opportunity to experience some of the best games the horror genre has to offer, this is a collection you really shouldn't miss.
-
Mar 29, 2012SH2 remains a masterpiece and one of the defining moments of the genre. SH3 is not quite as impressive, but retains some of the downright creepiest encounters in a game, even to this day.
-
Mar 29, 2012Silent Hill HD Collection is the best for neophytes to enjoy part of a series which wrote horror dictates on console universe, while also reminding the older ones that you're never too old to feel real fear under your skin.
-
Mar 20, 2012Unlike the God of War and Team Ico collections, the Silent Hill games have a more polarizing legacy, meaning the series may not be for everyone. Hardcore survival horror fans itching to return to the corrupt town of Silent Hill in the second and third games will enjoy the enhanced graphics and new and improved voice acting. Gamers unfamiliar with the era's clunky controls are better off hunting for more modern thrills.
-
Apr 17, 2012Konami's horror games are still highly enjoyable thanks to a great focus on emotional pathos rather than on the technical side. Nevertheless, this collection feels like a lazy port, with several problems and no added extras. A worthy buy only if you've never played these great classics.
-
Apr 24, 2012Nostalgic fans are likely to enjoy it, but by modern standards, these games lack cohesion and are flawed in such ways that new players probably won't.
-
Apr 21, 2012New players who haven't played these before should certainly give this compilation a shot, but those who have played these before would be better served by playing on the older systems instead.
-
Mar 27, 2012Silent Hill HD Collection includes two of the best games ever. It's not the perfect conversion it should have been, but it delivers great fun for both classic and new gamers.
-
Feb 28, 2012Silent Hill HD Collection is hardly well-rounded, but its tense manipulation of mood still rattles all the right nerves. [Apr 2012, p.62]
-
Apr 10, 2012This is neither HD or a collection but rather an example of what will become of our dearly beloved pearls of the past if we let the collection hysteria go too far.
-
Mar 30, 2012I don“t know if this botched port can at least in some ways be fixed by patches and it seems, that the PS3 got it even worse. Be that as it may, the way Konami presents these classics is neither a favor to itself nor the franchise.
-
Mar 30, 2012We really should expect better treatment for titles of this calibre. Nothing better sums up the sheer laziness of it all than a glaring typo scrolling past in the new credits.
-
Apr 27, 2012Unless you want to experience a butchered version of Silent Hill 2 and a somewhat decent Silent Hill 3, don't buy this collection.
-
Apr 2, 2012The unimpressive visuals make a mockery of the HD moniker, while the lack of extras and bonus material does nothing to entice long-standing fans. Silent Hill HD Collection isn't short on scares, but it's lacking in almost every other department.
-
Mar 25, 2012Incomplete, glitchy, and visually degraded, Silent Hill HD Collection is Konami's greatest insult to the series.
