As a downloadable title Scott Pilgrim is almost what everyone could want. It does nothing but pay homage to the ghosts of gaming past while it improves a long forgotten genre of gaming.
-
Do yourself a favour (Canadian spelling) and pick up this great XBLA title and do the world a favour by supporting (thereby, showcasing) a truly outstanding Canadian production.
-
Scott Pilgrim hardly has an original idea of its own, and that's entirely the point: it's a wonderful homage to its predecessors, while still proving thoroughly enjoyable in its own right.
-
What the developers took from the storyline, setting and combat style exhibited in the graphic novels created an amazing arcade fighter and fans of this genre should take the time to play through it.
-
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is a very fascinating game, with charismatic characters and gameplay. However it isn't for everyone: buy it only if you're looking for a difficult and demanding experience.
-
Scott Pilgrim vs The World: The Game is a worthy addition to the franchise and perhaps one of the best movie video games you'll ever find, if you want to classify it as such. It's just a shame that it can be frustratingly difficult and it chose to put itself in a genre which is somewhat tired in this modern age.
-
Scott Pilgim's real problem: the lack of any online multiplayer.
-
If you don't enjoy old-school looks, repetitive gaming and blips for music, then you obviously aren't the one this game is aimed at. However, if those things give you goose bumps and memories of beating up the same enemy over and over then Scott Pilgrim is your game.
-
Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World is really enjoyable, even if at times it can be really frustrating. The music is incredible and it has an amazing style unlike anything else out there. If only it had online co-op. But it doesn't.
-
Putting all of that potential entertainment against the price roughly equates to something ridiculously cheap like 50p per hour of gaming.
-
Simple, intuitive and, most of all, fun: three adjectives that perfectly describe Scott Pilgrim's gaming experience. Thanks to a wonderful retro visual style and an extremely accessible gameplay, this "old school" scrolling beat'em up proves to be one of the best arcade games out there. Don't miss out, especially if you have a few friends to share the experience with.
-
If you enjoy beat-em-ups or old-school gaming at all, you should definitely give it a try. It should be noted that while I completed the Xbox 360 version, I found the PS3's d-pad offered more precise control.
-
In the end, though, for the now below-average cost of 800 Microsoft Points there is enough to love about Scott Pilgrim vs. the World to make it a worthy addition to your XBLA collection.
-
For everyone else though, the game is a harder sell and I would recommend that you make use of Live's ability to download the trial version before dumping those 800 points into a purchase.
