    I was genuinely surprised with this game. I expected it to be a horrible but it's pretty fun and I enjoyed the story for what it was. I think your expectations really determine how you'll feel about, expect a lot of over the top elements and a bunch of goofy shenanigans.

    The most refined of the series. While some of the activities of SR 2 have been removed, everything else has been improved. In addition to the campaign, there's a horde mode and online co-op. If you liked the previous two entries, then you'll like this one too. It's Jackass meets GTA. I'd rate it with an 8.4 out of 10.

    This is where the series really changed and it was a great change. The series went from being called "That GTA wannabe" to Saints Row. Great game play, driving in the airplane was awesome and the game was funny af.

    Saints Row 3 and I have always had a rocky relationship. I was so excited for it to release due to my love for the 2nd installment and upon playing, I really enjoyed it but I pretty quickly realized that it didn't hold a candle to Saints Row 2.     The game is pretty good and it did a good job a establishing a more unique identity from Grand Theft Auto but the amount of cut content from SR2 is just too much for me to even consider having a conversation about which one is better. To me, 2 is undeniably a better game in almost every single aspect. That's why, for a long time, I really didn't like Saints Row 3.

    Nowadays, I'm closer to the middle. I can appreciate it for what it is but I won't forget how much substance is gone from Saints Row 2... but on its own, it ain't half bad.

    Saints Row The Third is a good game. SR3 is a open world game game set in a city called Silport with a good missions and good side activities but the game play is ok. SR3 isn't as good as Saints Row 2.

    A total blast. Leader in open world absurdism before GTA V ran with a lot of what SR3 did. Light on story but heavy on fun. Worth a buy if you haven't played.

    One of the best games I've ever played. Its amazing from its story, graphics to action. You can basically do what ever you want in this game and I love it.

    Avec l'expérience engrangée lors des missions, on débloque des "aptitudes" pas banales qui tiennent presque de la triche (!), car tout est possible dans SR 3 : des munitions illimitées, des frappes aériennes... envie de faire le ménage en hélico ? no problemo. Tout écraser avec un char ? le jeu vous en prie ! et ainsi de suite... on se surprend à rigoler devant sa télé tant Volition a mis le paquet et les **** plats dans les grands. Le défoulement à l'état pur.

    Parfois quelques bugs (une cible à voler qui s'autodétruit quand on arrive...) et bien qu'en progrès depuis SR2, les graphismes restent loin d'un GTA 4 et la ville également dans son ensemble. De surcroît, ça rame encore plus souvent que le jeu de Rockstar, un comble. On regrette aussi l'absence de voix VF.

    Je termine avec le dernier point fort de SR 3 : la personnalisation toujours aussi poussée de son personnage (qui peut être féminin ce qui ne gâche rien, loin de là...) digne des Sims, un régal.    … Expand

    I enjoyed this more then GTA IV at that time and it aged a lot better in my book aswell. At this day i STILL enjoy going back and leting it all go. Pleasure therapy for when you had a **** day.
    Ofcourse there are some things worth considering.. Although this game is good at its minimum it doesnt touch the story of part 2. But thats one of the charms of Saints Row over the years.. by topping themselves every time. I strongly recommend this part if you can take things lightly in life. Dont let the negative critics hold you off. By now this game can be found dirt cheap. But even at full price it was worth every cent.    … Expand

    Amazing virtual reality in gaming. Dream-come-true for open-world lovers. Great game for making good attitude. Cool story, huge contents, epic gameplay. Smile-maker with actions. Love this game. :D

I love Saints Row 3, 4 and Gat out of Hell and I think Saints Row The Third even better than Grand Theft Auto IV and Mafia II . In this game storyline is better than in GTA IV and MII and gameplay and physics much better than in GTA IV and all the sameThis game is very amazing and have got him moments .     In the proceeding 3 years they have all grown up. Energy drinks, movie deals, fortune and a massive following in this insane    Volition Inc. & THQ have brought us to Steelport in the hands of the Third Street Saints. After the previous game ended in a violence and explosions, the Saints joined forces with Ultor Corp and transformed from a simple street gang into a multi media powerhouse.

    In the proceeding 3 years they have all grown up. Energy drinks, movie deals, fortune and a massive following in this insane edition.

    Playing as the ‘Boss’ the story joins up alongside previous characters Johnny Gat, Shaudi and newbie tag along Josh Birk (actor, researching his ‘role’ in the upcoming movie). The crew attempt to steal a banks vault in the opening mission, Birk (aptly named) sets off an alarm in the process, alerting SWPD.

    Let’s say things don’t go to plan and once the dust clears the objective of the game is to rebuild the gang and the empire to their former glory.

    A new approach has been brought to the table on the mission structure. Previously seeing separate missions for each rival gang concluding in the final mission. SR3 offers a tighter construction with all missions intertwined. Leading decisions of the player affect through the whole game, including alternate endings.

    Without giving too much away its time to move away from the high octane, fast paced campaign, to land in WHORED MODE. Word plays from the get go this mode is survival/ horde based; defeating waves & levels with a colorful and strange array of enemies. Whether it’s giant women with big bazookas to gimps wielding massive purple **** swords and multicoloured walking cats.

    Guns, ammo and grenades are plentiful so wreaking havoc is always a must. Although it’s not horrendously long it offers a lot of difference and laugh out loud fun.

    2011 titles have seen more and more heavily customisable characters and surroundings. THQ have a great custom engine in game that gives players a more free and in-depth feel to creating a truly unique avatar and gang. Pre built models are available to use if this side of the game is not your cup O’tea.

    Game play has the open world (GTA type) freedom you would expect, third person views, multiple drivable vehicles (bikes to aircraft) all set on the streets.

    Saints Row The Third Along with the main story come mini missions, games & activities, turf wars and generally causing chaos. Get carried away with it though and the ‘five-o’ will be over you like a rash (unless you like the challenge of course).

    Graphics have a fresh and funky look too, you get the occasional pixelation if the game is not installed to the hard drive, but I like the whole comic / cartoon type textures & colours, giving a fictional feel. Keeping in line with the more humorous side the game offers.

    For players who venture online there is a co-op campaign and whored mode. They are available locally as well, only by use of a code (with game/ purchasable) which must be activated to allow access.

    The team decided to axe online multiplayer i.e. Deathmatch’ with a savvy shout too, mainly to save time, money and disappointment. Due to First Person Shooters taking most of all current online multiplayer gaming.

    Saints Row: The Third does a great job of filling the void Grand Theft Auto (its main adversary) left behind. This time THQ and Volition have delivered a much bigger game with easy to follow objectives & markers and it’s not too hard to pick up on the easier settings either.

    If you like this sort of thing, it’s definitely worth picking up (at least until GTA V comes out).    … Expand

    I have to admit, "Saints Row: The Third," is okay. It wasn't bad but it wasn't amazing per say. I couldn't stand the fact that a notorious street gang went from selling drugs to being "pop icons." I thought that was the stupidest thing that adult swim changed. I totally understand they wanted to do something different but it was completely stupid to change the whole main plot of the story,I have to admit, "Saints Row: The Third," is okay. It wasn't bad but it wasn't amazing per say. I couldn't stand the fact that a notorious street gang went from selling drugs to being "pop icons." I thought that was the stupidest thing that adult swim changed. I totally understand they wanted to do something different but it was completely stupid to change the whole main plot of the story, that's the huge thing. The activities was alright, not the greatest, but alright. At least they kept that. They did follow the story at least a little bit, the third street saints was still ran like a gang. There was some funny moments in it, I have to admit, running around with a **** and beating people with it was hilarious!! The combat system did improve with more executions!! That is one positive aspect of the game. But this game is specifically designed for more of the laid back gamer who just wants to get together with friends and have fun with them. This isn't like the first and second one at all. I think that the first and second saints row is built for the more serious gamers which includes myself. That's just my opinion. But back to reviewing the game, I just don't look at a gang being "pop icons." Like I said, I thought that was the stupidest thing adult swim could've done. That's why I rate this a 5. When I found out that adult swim changed the whole plot of the game went down a lot (basically from a 10 down to 6). Like I said, this game is more for the laid back gamer who just play for fun.     the story (contains a lot of spoilers): Two years after the Ultor Corporation's destruction, the 3rd Street Saints have turned their street gang into a media empire, becoming icons and household names across the world, with their own energy drink, Japanese commercials, toys, a large fanbase, and a movie deal in the works. However, when the Saints' leader (usually referred to simply as "the Boss") and two lieutenants, Shaundi and Johnny Gat, attempt to rob a bank as a publicity stunt, the bank tellers unexpectedly start shooting back. The police, who they had paid off beforehand subsequently intervene and arrest the Saints.

    The Saints' leaders are shortly released to the man who owned the targeted bank, Phillipe Loren, the leader of a criminal organization known as "the Syndicate;" on his private jet, Loren offers to let the Saints live if they turn over most of their earnings. The Saints' leaders refuse and break out, but Gat is apparently killed[i] as the Boss and Shaundi escape via parachute.

    Upon landing, the Boss and Shaundi find themselves in Steelport, the dystopian criminal city controlled by the Syndicate's three gangs: The Morning Star, a gang with advanced technology equipment, controlled by Loren himself, the Luchadores, a Mexican gang led by the killer wrestler Killbane, and the Deckers, a hacker-based gang led by Matt Miller. The Boss quickly calls in another lieutenant from the Saints' hometown of Stilwater, Pierce Washington, and begins attacking the Morning Star's businesses, culminating with an attack on Loren's headquarters. In this raid Loren is killed and the giant superhuman Oleg Kirlov, the basis of the cloned "brutes" the Syndicate uses, is rescued.

    The Boss briefly returns to Stilwater for Johnny Gat's funeral but while his hearse is held up at the reopening of the Hughes Memorial Bridge, overseen by Senator Monica Hughes, Killbane attacks the Saints and destroys the bridge. To retaliate, the Boss seeks out anti-Syndicate talent, recruiting Oleg as an enforcer, ex-FBI hacker Kinzie Kensington as an informant; Zimos, the oldest pimp in Steelport; and Angel de la Muerte, Killbane's vengeful former tag-team partner. They are later joined by Viola DeWynter, one of Loren's twin lieutenants, after Killbane kills her twin sister Kiki out of rage due to a failed assassination attempt on the Boss. Her defection, however, coincides with the arrival of the paramilitary S.T.A.G. (Special Tactical Anti-Gang) forces in Steelport, created by Senator Hughes to end gang violence once and for all. The Saints take on STAG regardless, resulting in Steelport going under martial law, whilst also dealing with the Syndicate.

    After providing Kinzie with the appropriate technology, the Boss enters the Deckers mainframe, defeating Deckers leader Matt Miller's avatar in a virtual reality fight and driving him and most of the Deckers out of town. At Angel's insistence, the Boss opts to take on Killbane by killing the other contestants in his Murderbrawl XXXI pay-per-view to gain entrance, and then, with Angel's help, defeating Killbane. Following his humiliating defeat, an enraged Killbane responds by instigating several attacks on the Saints and STAG throughout Steelport to cause chaos.

    Whilst quelling the fighting between the Luchadores and STAG, the Boss is simultaneously informed that Killbane is escaping the city while STAG second-in-command Kia is holding Shaundi, Viola, and Mayor Burt Reynolds hostage at a Steelport monument rigged to blow to frame the Saints. If the Boss saves Shaundi and kills Kia, the Saints are held as heroes; the ending of the game subsequently shows the boss tracking Killbane down to Mars and killing him in what is ultimately revealed to be a scene from the Saints sci-fi film Gangstas in Space, which the Boss and several members are acting in. Saints Row IV follows this ending. Alternately, if the boss kills Killbane and lets Shaundi die, the monument's destruction is used as a pretext by STAG to attack Steelport with the airborne aircraft carrier Daedalus. The Boss destroys the Daedalus, killing STAG leader Cyrus Temple in the process, and declares Steelport an independent city-state under the Saints' control. next: the game gives you an fun and unforgetable experience, full of cars, good character custumization, and if it does not sadisfy you, you have the mods. close to Saints Row IV, this one is better in a whole new level. next: amazing story. for me, i think that this game is one of the best games ever. 10/10. i cannot say if i recommend you or not, its your opinion.    … Expand

    A massive step down from the amazing quality of Saints Row 2. It's certainly not a terrible game, but it's just simply not as fun or as unique as it's predecessor.

    I still haven't played Saints Row 2 and I feel I need to, because I've been told that it's better than Saints Row The Third in many ways. After it's awesome first 3 hours Saints Row The Third really starts to show its stale spots. I'm a fan of open world games that give me plenty of optional side activities for me to do outside of the main missions. My problem with Saints Row The Third isI still haven't played Saints Row 2 and I feel I need to, because I've been told that it's better than Saints Row The Third in many ways. After it's awesome first 3 hours Saints Row The Third really starts to show its stale spots. I'm a fan of open world games that give me plenty of optional side activities for me to do outside of the main missions. My problem with Saints Row The Third is that, while there are activities like Gang Takedowns and mini games to do in the open world, the main missions force you to do these anyway.
    There's no doubt that most of the main missions are great and there's so much creativity. Hell, there's even a mission where you have to drive a tiger around the city while avoiding 'press' vans and trying not to piss off the tiger! The first mission also gives you really good first impressions. But despite this level of creativity I always felt like the overall game was missing something and I ended up not doing the side activities and just doing the main missions which made for an extremely linear 12 hour experience.
    The city of Steelport was not worked on enough in The Third. I did not feel the need to return to the game and explore it once I'd completed it and the graphics are average. My final gripe with the game is that it really started to show its bugs near the end. The game froze twice in my last two hours playing it and on the last mission when travelling to destinations enemies would practically spawn directly in front of me causing me to crash into them. This is pretty bad considering this game came out 3 years ago and many of its issues still haven't been patched.
    Aside from those issues the game is still a ton of fun. You can pick it up pretty cheap now second-hand and it does have its share of variety, interesting characters and a unique visual style...and sex jokes, lots and lots of sex jokes. This game goes over-the-top a lot, but while I could recommend this game to people at its current exchange price there are plenty of other excellent games out there that also go over-the-top but don't have as many of this games annoyances and are generally just more fun. While I've yet to play previous Saints Row titles I'd recommend Saints Row 4. Sure it reuses the open world in this game, but at least it's filled with collectibles that get you to explore Steelport more, the side missions are incredibly fun (especially insurance fraud) and they're not mandatory, and the creativity put into all of the missions is truly unparalleled and the amount of fun you can have with the superpowers is practically unlimited. Plus, I've put over 40 hours into SR4 and a maximum of 13 hours into The Third.    … Expand

    I walked in thinking Saints Row 3 was gonna be a blast. And it was, for the first 3 hours. The game throws everything at you, and you have tons of fun playing with them. But the novelty wears off when you realise you can access things really quickly. The shooting and driving is really fun, especially when you're in a helicopter. And it's really funny.     well well well saints row ermmmmm crap to start with, I thought this game looked really good but I was soooooooo wrong. The game play sucks so boring and stupid, 6 million bullets in ur head and you still live , I find all you do in this game is fight loads of people and get no where. I cannot understand why this poop is so high rated, doesn't the price drop of the game tell youwell well well saints row ermmmmm crap to start with, I thought this game looked really good but I was soooooooo wrong. The game play sucks so boring and stupid, 6 million bullets in ur head and you still live , I find all you do in this game is fight loads of people and get no where.     I'm shocked to be saying this, but this THQ game is good. The gameplay may not be super original, but it is still fun. The story isn't amazing but is quite enjoyable. I am ashamed to say, I have spend over 10 minutes on the streaking minigame alone.

    Saints Row: The Third is unlike any game I have ever played. It is crazy, yet also hilarious. Those who want to laugh for hours should play this game. The gunplay eventually feels a little bit stale, but new weapons help to spice up the gameplay.

    There is no underselling the amount of fun to be had in "Saints Row: the Third". The game is simply a joy to play. The story is fun to play, since there are a ton of jokes in it. The action kicks ass and the character creation is really good. The game has it's flaws but those aren't game-or even funbreaking. So go on and buy it.

    The side missions are also great, such as the mayhem and insurance fraud side missions which are designed to be silly and fun. There are exceptions on the missions where you are A.I dependant, such as the dealing missions and escort missions, where the A.I are sluggish and often get stuck on objects, forcing a restart. This kept the score from being perfect as it happened on a fair few occurrences.

    To conclude: an amazingly fun game that was a breath of fresh air to me, a game where it takes the meaning of fun and gives it you in huge barrels.    … Expand

By the time Saints Row 2 rolled round in 2008 they were starting to branch out a bit more and make it more unique and special with you rebuilding the Saints from the ground up in more elaborate and ridiculous ways. Saints Row: The Third was first released in 2011 and, as the summary above says, the Saints are now a household name and after what is possibly the most elaborate and over-the-top opening to a game ever you are down to a skeleton crew and again you a rebuilding the Saints image in a brand new town with unlimited and ludicrous possibilities!

    The general story ark follows the same basic principle as the other games in franchise, there are three factions that you need to wage war against with each stage resulting in more and more insanity until you reach the head and take them down. Once they are gotten rid of you then move on to the final faction before taking over the new town. It’s a tried and tested plan and it is the third time it has been used in the Saints Universe so you would expect it start maybe getting a little tired now, thankfully you would be wrong. I’m not too sure how they’ve managed to do it but with every Saints game so far they have made it feel fresh and like it’s a brand new premise. The supporting cast (both good guys and bad guys), the ridiculous gang attires, the utter insanity of every single mission, and the cockiness of the main protagonist all make you not really give a **** that it’s been done before and just enjoy what’s currently happening.

    If, for some indescribable reason, you grow tired of waging war on the factions of the Syndicate then you can always make the most of some of the distractions that Saints Row has to offer. This is something that has always been a part of the franchise but is one that is gradually getting better and better with every new release. There are icons dotted all around the map that you can go to at any point you are not on a mission to take part in side missions that in absolutely no way further the plot but they do help to improve your rank and earn you some extra money, plus they’re a **** tonne of fun. To say that these activities and distractions are varied would be kind of an understatement; there are some of the classics like insurance fraud where you throw yourself in front of traffic for financial gain, and Mayhem where you have to cause a certain amount of destruction within a certain amount of time. These are thrown into the mix with some nice new ones like Tank Mayhem which is essentially the same as Mayhem but with a Tank, and my personal favourite “Professor Genki’s Super Ethical Reality Climax”. This beautiful little bastard has you thrown into a room full of mascots and traps and gives you a certain amount of time to murder your way to the exit with a chirpy little double-act giving a play-by-play about what’s happening over a loudspeaker. As I said, these things in no way further the story but without then Saints Row: The Third would not be the game it is!

    The musical selection isn’t the best that you could have hoped for, the radio stations are a little limited and there’s not really anything that pops as something really special. That’s the negative, the positive is that the musical selection in-game is a thing of beauty! Some of the music that is played over the missions is spot-on, the highlight of this is definitely the game blasting a Kanye West song while you and the Saints are shooting up a penthouse, and I don’t even like Kanye West! The voice acting is definitely a high point of the game with the leader of the Saints always having an answer for everything and generally being a smartarse, this leads to some of the cutscenes being incredibly fun to watch.

    Verdict:

    The gameplay itself is some of the most over-the-top and entertaining I have ever had the joy of experiencing, the story is as ridiculous as it is incredible, and with all of the extra activities and distractions thrown into the mix there is plenty there to keep you coming back for more. Plus did I mention that you can beat someone to death with a giant rubber cock??    … Expand

    Honestly, you won't like this game if you played "Saints row 2". Jokes are rarely ever funny, story is bland, and lacked elements of roleplay brought in by Saints row 2. I don't care much about most of these besides the story. I'm not usually one to care much about the story of games but Saints row: The Third failed to bring even a decent story. Gameplay was fine though.

Right from the start the game will get you hooked, you start off by robing a bank owned by the Syndicate then you are forced out of Stillwater, and into Steelport. From there its one crazy mission after another, for instance my personal favorite is the zombie mission in there because it just shows how ridiculously crazy the game is, and also i like how at some points you get branching paths with different rewards for choosing one of them. The story basically made me think of the movie Expendables, its just a hilariously good time with one liners, and insane action sequences. Every mission i guarantee is going to have at least one holy WTF what did i just do moment. Now the voice actors in this game all do a really nice job, they are funny, and sometimes it can seem like your watching an episode of Family Guy. Another thing the game does extremely well is the customization options for your character,your gang, and cars. You can make your character look and sound how ever you want. If you want to make a male that looks like he is on steroids but wears girls clothing, you can do make it, if you want a male with a female voice you can do that, if you want to make the fattest character with ridiculous clothing you can do that, but the craziest option is one of the voices you can give your character is a zombie voice that just speaks gibberish. The car customization is also well done, you make it what ever color you want, what kind of paint you want, what tires you want, how big you want the tires, you can even improve your tires to have better handling and more durability against gunfire. Then the gang customization is also really cool, you can choose your gang sign, how they cheer, and how they taunt, you can even change their outfit from a ninja to a club lover, to a military guard, to other crazy options like gimps, and ho's if you enjoy that stuff. The side activities also are really fun to play. You have dealer where you escort people around while they sell stuff to people, and gang members from other groups try to stop you, tank mayhem where you cause as much damage as you can with a tank, regular mayhem, escort where you rescue girls from their abusive pimps, Insurance fraud is hilarious with its rag doll physics, and where you run in front of cars getting tossed around is just hilarious to watch, gang operations where you go to a certain area and clear out rival gang members provides the classic mode of clear this area for cash as in other open world games, Professor Genki's Super Ethical reality climax, wow that's a mouthful. In this one you go through a shooting course where you have to kill mascots and earn enough money to leave in time. You have Trail blazing which is basically a race mode, and Guardian Angel where you snipe enemies to protect your fellow gang members. There is just so much stuff to do in steel port, you would definitely get your money's worth in terms of content value. The weapon upgrades are cool, they make your weapon more powerful but also changes the way it looks. There is also a cool upgrade system with for those who stick around to the end for a full level 50 respect, you can become just insanely powerful with invincibility, and infinite ammo, and lot of other cool ones. The shooting mechanics have been improved from the first two games. Driving mechanics feel less stiff then the previous ones. Finally what this game does well is just the fact that how the developers made this to show you or anyone who plays it a good time. Now there are a couple of negatives with the game though, sometimes but rarely textures during cut scenes weren't great but not bad, i experienced some drops in frame rate but like two or three times, and this game wasn't certainly created to have challenging combat, but there were times where both my Team AI and the enemy AI weren't so good,like they would just stand there without firing and take shots, and the enemy would just not even notice i was shooting at them but thankfully it did not happen that often. But on the whole i put at least so far twenty hours of game play in with plenty of stuff left to do, and i would recommend this to anyone who loves open world games, or just wants to have a good time, and i could recommend this to all gamer because it truly is a unique game the parodies some many other games, and does reference some movies. So yes i believe you should buy this it is worth every penny of its purchase price.… Expand

The series started off trying to steal some of Grand Theft Auto sales with the first game (which actually was a pretty fun game) but then they tried to create their own flavor with the sequels. Saints row the Third is just simply "another game". Not a bad game but not a good game either. 6/10

    The story in SR3 is poorly written and doesn't leave any impact on the player like SR1 and 2 did. The returning characters have become boring and the new characters are nothing to write home about. At the start of SR3 the Saints are exiled from Stilwater and are placed in the new city of Steelport. Steelport is not a bad setting but Stilwater was more varied.

    Another problem with this game is its length, I 100% completed it in 15 hours, for an open world sandbox this is terribly short, although this is probably due to the fact that a large portion of the game was cut to be DLC in a scummy business practice.

    Final Thoughts: Good but not as good as SR2, if you find the complete edition for cheap, pick it up, you won't regret it.    … Expand

In the third game the humour is still immature and silly but the second game was clever too. The writing in my opinion went completely out the window; now it feels like they're just pandering to reach out to as big an audience as possible.
    Combat is very repetitive as the AI is straight up retarded and the harder enemies are not hard because they're well-designed but more so because they just have larger health-pools than their low-life counterparts. Weapon-variety is welcome here but doesn't really save the gameplay when that's what you'll be doing most of the time.
    Character-customization is absolutely ridiculous (not as good as in SR2 though) and that is probably the game's biggest strength as both the story and gameplay fall short.
    My last gripe is that the characters are very bland and boring. This is most likely as a result of the lack-luster writing, all the gangs seem insignificant and not one of them stands out as truly unique or interesting.    … Expand

The new activities weren't that interesting, A bunch of activities that were fun in SR2 are gone. Now they've been replaced with pretty basic ones like Tank Mayhem and Guardian Angel (Professor Genki's Super Ethical Reality Climax is pretty fun though). Customization is pretty lacking though, In Saints Row 1 & 2 you could customize your character to have an overshirt, an undershirt, Buttoned or Unbuttoned etc. In Saints Row: The Third you can't do any of that. If it sounds like there's no fun in this game, that's not the case at all. This is probably one of the best games of 2011. If you have a friend on Xbox Live, PSN Or Steam, Go play co-op because it is so much fun! So the question is "Is this better than Saints Row 2?" SR1 and SR2 had me playing long after I beat the story, while after I beat SR3, I didn't play much afterwards.     The third entry of the Saints Row series, while fun, holds the player's hand a bit too much and reduces the majority of missions to simple tutorials and mini-games. Fans of the previous two installments will also be disappointed to find out that Volition really didn't do much to advance the plot. That said, let's hope Saints Row 4 focuses more on the protagonist tracking down Dex.

    One of the best sandbox games so far. Was kinda short and sweet. DLC is OK. I would recommend this game if you the GTA series before GTA 4. I rate it about 8.5.

    I loved this game the story definitely not the best game story out there but you can do so much in this game if you fully upgrade your car it is almost indestructible the cheats are amazing and help the game a lot the only thing I can complain about is the graphics as you will get stuck in a LOT of things but it is still fun and is good if you like a crazy game

The game sucked me in and quickly a day disappeared but boredom never struck. The pace of the game was fast and interesting, and more surprisingly a full 18 hours of fun. I haven't really gotten the chance to just mess around as I kept wanting to get the next best gun or car. There were a lot of aspects that I didn't mess around with (exploring, side missions, homies, online) but I found the experience I had to be really exciting. The array of vehicles was great but I would have like more helicopters and planes. There was an interesting selection of guns, however, I would have like more real weapons. The game's biggest plus was that it didn't take itself seriously. There was just so much stupid **** but at the same time I never felt like the creators were trying to make it feel meaningful. I'll definitely be revisiting the game for the additional content I haven't explored and possibly a different play through with the different decisions.… Expand

    The game is great, but I feel that there is less to explore not as much content as before. Even so what it lacks in longer story and more exploration it makes up in well....crazy sh***t so its worth every dollar. I highly recommend it to fans of senseless violence.

Driving control is nowhere near as good as GTA, Combat controls are about the same level of clunkyness as GTA, but you don't notice because your character is pretty much invincible (even on normal setting). And you can do more dressing up, Especially comedy dressing up, but that all fits in with the loony toons graphics and zany setting.

The maker does a pretty good job of filling you in on the pertinent details of the Saints and their circumstances as you begin the game.     The nice thing about the side jobs in Saints Row is they are not too encumbering. Each type really only has one "hard" job that requires a larger degree of awareness or efficiency. It is quite fun to test your courage by driving a car with a tiger in the passenger seat or fly overwatch in a helicopter gunship as members of your gang put in work on the ground. A number of games like this are commonly compared to the granddaddy of them all: Grand Theft Auto. Though this game does have its similarities with its focus on the criminal element and making virtually every car your own- it differs in that it brings adult humor to the table. Whether rescuing the pimp Zimos from the BDSM club or chainsawing your way through luchadores at Murderbrawl; Saints Row is just plain fun. This game is also a great pick for the person that just wants a relaxing game to cause mayhem in after a long day at work. Casual and even Normal difficulty are great for this. Stick to Normal if you can shoot accurately. Saints Row: the Third is a great marriage between story line and open city game play. It should appeal to either type of player.    … Expand

    While i am enjoying this game I cant help feeling its just a rip-off of the GTA series without the same level of polish. Definately enjoying the tongue in cheek action but it could have used a lot more work on finer details prior to release

    I got a few laughs out of this, but gave up on it about 70% of the way through. I had a hard time relating to my character, who spoke like a zombie because all of the other voices were too annoying, and the gratuitous revelry in violence was a little much.

It is not an expansion pack DLC); Multiplayer is mostly dropped (They only have co-op and whored mode, and you have to buy a season pass for 800 MC Points), and the endings are kind of lame (the good ending has little effort, the bad ending is epic, but I hate bad endings). It is over the top done right, and games were made to not take itself seriously in the first place. I love the cast of characters and it's a game i would recommend. Buy one, no hell buy 2 so you can give one to your friend and you can both destroy the city in style.

If they're referring to the level of "life" and "things to do" when the game is "over," then it's basically the same--once gangs are cleared out, and you've done all the requirements, missions, collectibles, there wasn't much to do in SR2 either. These people have ridiculous selective memory. 3) Those claiming that the developer offers paid DLC for abilities that are unlocked during normal gameplay are incorrect: only ONE ability offered as part of DLC is unlocked via normal gameplay: Unlimited ammo. Every other piece of every other DLC is *not* available otherwise in the game (including full invincibility--NOT attainable in the game (melee death is still possible)). 4) Those complaining about the need to use an online pass to play cooperatively online are ridiculous: This is happening with almost every major release nowadays. These same people don't seem to complain when it comes to their precious activision/ EA games, apparently. 5) Users complaining about Volition offering a "season pass" to the game are ridiculous: No one's forcing you to buy the seasons pass, and all it does is give you a discount to future DLC. Publishers have been doing this for months--most notably Activision. 6) some people have complained that the game has taken away the ability to layer clothing, and thusdeserves a ZERO score. Really? This is what you're hanging your hat on? Please. 7) Lastly, I've seen people give this a score of ZERO for not having online free-roam multiplayer for more than 2 people. Why? The first and second didn't have it either! Are we now going to give the precious Elder Scrolls V Skyrim a zero for not having team deathmatch? It's the same logic--flawed. Again, don't let the vocal minority fool you--the game is loads of un, and with a friend to run around town blowing stuff up, it's even moreso. The game has its flaws (soundtrack is a bit lacking, and it can favor over-the-top too much sometimes), but overall, a great game that doesn't take itself seriously.… Expand

    This game tried to be over the top and lost sight of what made the 2nd one great, which was that the wiriting had a serious tone with some funny moments, but ultimately you were a hardened street gangster and the story kept in line with that with moments of death, revenge, losing gang members etc but never taking the feel of the game out of the context it was set in. Following the story ultimately it doesn't evoke any type of feeling in the gamer as the writers are made to go for over the top stunts and gags that get old real quick. The saving grace is that the two player online co-op for the whole game is back and is still enjoyable. Overall I'd recommend saints row 2 over this one especially to play with a friend, it has a better story, better activities (which are optional) and is overall a better game.… Expand

The game lets you loose to have fun, reigning missiles down that decimate all manner of vehicles. Some of the side missions are crazy in their inventiveness too, such as trying to drive around with confidence, when a Bengal tiger is in the passenger seat next to you. Also, other than the duff missions- there are some truly explosive, unforgettable, insane and downright exciting missions to enjoy. So I reiterate, SR3 doesn't boast the soaring production values of GTA IV, nor is it very smart, but it provides the kind of hilarity that no other game can claim in large quantities like SR3.… Expand

And that is saying alot because the first two games were amazing, and had balance. The only improvement they made was the graphics, and the **** QTE. And what it is, is a fun, action packed, crazy, insane, funny, thrilling experience, what more can you ask for in a game. The only small gripe I have is that the tone is drastically different from the previous two SR titles. The Bad: The graphics lack slightly. In the End: Don't pick up this game expecting a realistic gang simulation, this game throws reality out of the window and puts a fun action packed joy ride in its place!… Expand

Also the bugs can cause major problems to your system. Stay clear and wait for the bargan bin. Dont get me wrong, its good, but not that good. I loved SR1 and 2 but this is NOT good.     Great Sandbox game, Fun and it keeps the laughs coming. I found myself on more than one location laughing out loud. Story never lets you get into it due to the zany nature of it but i think that's a plus. If you want a random, fun loving,run and gun type game this is a must have.     Saints Row the Third really comes off as a labour of love from the developers, of whom I know very little about. All I do know is that I wasn't impressed by either of the original two games in this franchise, after playing demos of them. I thought they were poorly funded, second rate rip-offs of the GTA franchise, so didn't bother with them. But after messing around with this third incarnations free character creator demo and playing a little of it at my friends house, I decided that it was worth picking up, despite my reservation of the older games. And I am glad I did. Now after completing the game non-stop during the entire duration of xmass and completing it 100%, I can without a doubt say this is one of the most fun and addictive games I played in 2011... Overall its really quite a diverse experience (if a little silly at times) and made me chuckle more than a few times, especially while using the female 'Niko Bellic' style voice for my character. She was total awesome! as were all the supporting actors. The game-play didn't do anything really new or spectacular that I haven't seen before, other than combining all of its facets; open world exploration & reward, RPG character growth, driving and combat into a whole with a degree of skill that most other developers could only dream of doing. In fact, I'd go out on a limb and say this is probably the best game of its genre. And yes that includes Rockstar's GTA games when it comes to pure game-play like combat. Also (baring in mind that i'm new to this franchise), it seemed that the game had surprises and rewards waiting around every corner. Almost everything I did gave me a significant reward for doing it. Another thing that I found charming was the games sense of style.. it kinda reminded me of the movies Kick-Ass and Scott Pilgrim, in the way its heavily steeped in gaming culture and not taking itself too seriously, but at the same time there is a coherent story there, with some great acting and characters. Overall just a great game that pleasantly surprised me......................... One thing I will mention as a negative though, the game has an Online Pass Code to unlock its fullest potential, which obviously is an effort to prevent pre-owned sales / piracy, but really just makes us gamers despise Publishers and sometimes developers that force it upon the games we enjoy playing. So please quit pissing us off with its inclusion. There is more than one gamer in this household that would like full access to the game without having to spend an extra few quid for something I already purchased legitimately.… Expand

There are so many positives about SR3 but the main to me is how crazy it is. One minute you are driving a car with a tiger next to you, the next running around naked whilst on drugs, then to top it off looking after "Ho's" for a pimp who always speaks in auto tune. SR3 is still keeping me amused after many hours of game play.… Expand

    I played this game for hours and hours and hours , and it keeps you exciting and its full of WTF-moments especially the 1st mission. The trees that plop while you're flying could be better, but its alright. You must remember its a sandbox game.

SR3 introduces its own fresh style gameplay, the combat system is better than ever and the new activities like tiger escort and Genki S.E.R.C are ridiculously fun. Gang operations, improved driving, and crazy new weapons and vehicles are the ****. The easy to access cell phone make many previous features nowHaving played SR and SR2, Saints Row the Third leaves me sort of frustrated. SR3 introduces its own fresh style gameplay, the combat system is better than ever and the new activities like tiger escort and Genki S.E.R.C are ridiculously fun. Gang operations, improved driving, and crazy new weapons and vehicles are the ****. The easy to access cell phone make many previous features now easier to access and Co-op is still fun as ever. The craziness of the game is definitely the highlight. for example I found myself at one point defending a costume shop with a purple **** fighting waves of mascots that drove golf carts and smart cars. Oh, and the awesome button, is AWESOME. However, the game's story goes from good in the first half to terrible in the second half. The voice acting is excellent (especially with the 1st female voice) but direction they went with some characters annoys me and the game is entirely too short. I still have not beat SR2 completion-wise, I already have 100% completion and all achievements in SR3 in just over 30 hours. They also took out some very fun activities like crowd control, septic avenger (which is sort of replaced by tank mayhem now), fuzz, and fight club. Though they may have added new customization they took some out at the same time like layering clothes and more but you'll still find something you like. There are also some small things they took out that just pisses me off like the ability to pick up and throw objects and the ability to replay missions, additionally, the game still has some bugs. The game expanded well in some areas but lost some of what made SR2 fun. In SR2 there were 3 distinct gangs but in SR3 it feels like there is only one big gang. Despite these problems, I found myself constantly having driving down the street blowing the **** out of everything and also making a second profile on the game and quite frankly the game was still tons of fun. SR3 is a breath of fresh air in the open world franchise. If you have played SR2 you may find yourself disappointed and feeling a little empty in some areas, but, if this is your first time to the series be prepared to have tons of crazy, over-the-top action and many hours of gut-busting fun.… Expand

    Volition gets many things right in Saints Row: The Third in what is no doubt a fine sequel, but it's very much a case of sequelitis for the THQ franchise. The zany and over-the-top nature, well-written script and whole host of sandbox toys are held back ever so slightly by the oddly paced and repetitive proceedings of the game's main story.

    Despite my gripes with the multiplayer options, the 10-to-12-hour campaign's still very much worth the price of admission, and it needs to be seen to be believed-trust me, this game's done more than enough to earn its "M" rating from the ESRB.
