  1. R.U.S.E tries hard to make itself stand out from the crowd, but ultimately needs a stool to try and peek over the other strategy giants.

For any fan of strategy looking for something outside of the norm, R.U.S.E. breathes new life into an old war.
  3. R.U.S.E. is a refreshing real-time strategy game that works well on a console.
  4. If you can stand the time period, then this serves as a perfectly adequate medium between Hearts of Iron's grand strategy, and Men of War's more tactical focus.

Playing against other people online, you'll have a decent time, but solo players will miss out entirely on the sense of satisfaction that comes from outwitting another person. [Nov 2010, p.81]
  6. A well made and well rounded strategy war game, but not one that hooks you in the same way as the genre greats. There are enough competent strategy offerings on the PC that this isn't an obligatory purchase, but the lack of good strategy games on the consoles means that R.U.S.E. is definitely worth checking out on those platforms – it even handles well with the controller.
  7. If you've enjoyed a RTS in the past, or loved the idea of a RTS, but not the complications, then R.U.S.E. is an excellent alternative to the normal WWII strategy game.
  8. The solo mode is, in practice, a long tutorial, one that's slow to introduce new concepts and-in a baffling move, given the game's all-caps title-takes forever to unveil the full complement of all-important "Ruses."
  9. It could definitely appeal to those who enjoy a more macro-style strategy game, but if you like a faster pace to your strategy, it's going to be easy to get bored or frustrated quick.

A multiplayer game that doesn't work solo. [Oct 2010, p.108]
  11. Despite a fascinating concept and an undoubted strategic deepness, the console versions of R.U.S.E. fail to deliver a fully satisfying gaming experience for both fans and newcomers to the genre due to some gameplay flaws and some questionable decisions made by the developers.

LOL i kinda figured that EuroGamer Italy would give this game a bad review considering half the game is them getting nuked. But This wouldLOL i kinda figured that EuroGamer Italy would give this game a bad review considering half the game is them getting nuked. But This would have to be the Best Console RTS out there. Its simplistic, has great controles, and gets rid of the stupid Circular command redicual that all RTS developers think is nessacry for consoles. The story ist half bad either. In short, if your an RTS fan, and you own a console, dont pass this one up. Full Review »

Upon its announcement, I thought the normal "yeah sure another RTS which is going to fail on a console like the rest of 'em"....Oh how wrong IUpon its announcement, I thought the normal "yeah sure another RTS which is going to fail on a console like the rest of 'em"....Oh how wrong I was. This game works very well with its tabletop style battlefield. Navigating, selecting units and scale is all brilliant once you get the hang of it. A brilliant feature is the "zoom" which has really been thought out well. You can watch from a zoomed out pose where units appear as chips stacked upon each other or you can go right into the action and see each man ambushing enemies from a forest. Overall, a good steady game, not sure how long the glamour will last though... Full Review »

the new starcraft is obviously the best RTS on the market but the fact that this tackles 1) wwii without being ANOTHER FPS and 2) how the hellthe new starcraft is obviously the best RTS on the market but the fact that this tackles 1) wwii without being ANOTHER FPS and 2) how the hell can a developer make a good RTS when a trillion of them have been out for the last decade? that's why this is good. it tackles both those problems and tackles well.
