While Rocketmen: Axis of Evil doesn’t give off the best first impression, those that take the plunge and buy the game will find a good game that worships the old-school shooters a bit too much at times.
-
The developers clearly realized that they had something special going and require online play if you want to unlock all 12 achievements.
-
Not a bad game, but not enough to keep your attention. The long levels of wash-rinse-and-repeat action will please only the Achievement-loving space cadets.
-
It has its fair share of problems, but if you can get beyond them, you'll find underneath a rather pleasant game that can be played with everyone in the room.
-
For eight hundred Microsoft points, there's only a mild amount of fun to be found in the gameplay--even in the most diehard heart.
-
Fun for a little bit, but even die hard fans of the genre will be put off after an hour or so.
-
If you are looking for a quick fix of top down shooter shenanigans and you happen to be moderately blind or ignorant of the other titles on offer, Rocketmen: Axis of Evil may just be worth a look.
-
A mindless romp that is probably worth the ten dollar price of admission. If you're expecting a title that will provide you with lasting appeal, then you will be sorely disappointed.
-
Rocketmen mixes cel-shaded graphics with serialized space adventure to provide a twist to old-school, top-down shooting.
-
Rocktmen could be thrilling, especially considering the genre isn't exactly prolific, and the four player co-op mode is appealing, but there are many issues.
-
Xbox World 360 Magazine UKLooks great and it's rammed with fun ideas, but it's gimped by the soft guns and float-o-characters. [May 2008, p.97]
-
On paper Rocketmen: Axis of Evil sounds like fun, but we've played this game far too many times before.
-
The half-hearted RPG nods, quixotic story treatment and frustrating camera detract from a core of solid gameplay. The basics are there, but Rocketmen's problems overshadow the basic shoot-em-up beneath.
-
Rocketmen: Axis of Evil offers up some interesting concepts, but the muddled execution bogs it down.
-
Rocketmen is one of those games that could have been pretty interesting, but just doesn't live up to its potential.
-
Rocketmen: Axis of Evil is far too short a game at the ten dollar price tag and will do nothing more than frustrate and annoy casual fans of the shooter genre.
-
I certainly like the depth and variety of the XBox Live Arcade offerings. There are truly some gems in there that are worth their cost in points. Sadly, Rocketman: Axis of Evil falls short of that mark.
