JakeMar 21, 2009I'd never played the old R-Type games, but I was bored so I decided to pick this up and see if it helped. I can honestly say this was the biggest mistake in my life. You will die constantly and then you will turn this off.

Dec 28, 2012I'm giving this game a 9 because I'm a Masochist. R Type dimensions includes R Type and R Type 2. The final bosses of both games are nearly impossible and you would be lucky to make it past the first couple levels. However there's a sense of satisfaction from making it farther than you did last time. Also, you can play it cooperatively, and can toggle infinite lives for the faint of heart.

You might fail to see what all the fuss is about if you're not a shmup historian, but for the faithful it's a pleasure to rediscover R-Type with friends and flash. [Feb 2009, p.81]

You can’t ignore that R-Type Dimensions offers another taste of classic gaming, with some enhancements to make it more attractive and contemporary, and that’s playable from the comfort of the living-room couch.

If you fondly remember the R-Types of old and have been itching to feel that sense of intense difficulty again on your console, then you’d be crazy not to download this one.
