Puzzle Quest 2 is definitely worth checking out, and while I wish the soundtrack had been improved upon more it's pretty much the only thing I didn't enjoy about this sequel.
-
Staying true to its origins Puzzle Quest 2 delivers the addicting gameplay of two genres and makes some wonderful changes to be considered more than just a sequel.

-
Like the first game, Puzzle Quest 2 takes a simple casual affair and adds layers of depth you won't be able to resist. Even though the quest is long and your customization options seem to be limitless, it still works as a game you can pick up and play for short sessions.
-
Puzzle Quest 2 lives up to fans' high expectations and delivers a fun and lovingly addictive evolution of our favorite gem-matching RPG.
-
It is fun, addictive and will take you hours and hours to finish.
-
Puzzle Quest 2 is a worthy sequel in every measure. It improves the look and feel of the original, successfully builds on its mechanics, and still feels different enough to provide a sense of novelty and newness.
-
Puzzle Quest 2 is a true sequel that improves on the original while keeping all the aspects that made the original a hit.
-
Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords was one of the most addictive games of all time. Its blend of genres and stunning gameplay left lines scored in touch screens and tiles burnt into televisions. Now, the sequel has managed to improve upon the original in every way.
-
Hiccups aside, Puzzle Quest 2 is a fine sequel that is sure to please fans of the original as well as draw in plenty of new players.
-
An overall better game than its predecessor, Puzzle Quest 2 expands upon and streamlines the formula to produce one of the most enjoyable puzzle games ever.

Official Xbox MagazineWhat's here is already a fun reminder that gem-bashing is the best way to raid dungeons. [Sept 2010, p.86]
-
After two years of nothing but rocky seas, Puzzle Quest 2 manages to right the ship and correct the course.
-
Despite some parts of the game being more simplistic overall, the exploration of the catacombs is far more enthralling than the over world from Challenge of the Warlords.
-
With the super-long story, tons of side-quests and 4 character classes to choose from plus the multiplayer component, 3 different difficulty settings and the ability to play any of the mini-games independently of the main story, Puzzle Quest 2 offers a virtual truckload of gameplay for your 1200MP. In the end, the main question is whether or not the magically addictive spirit of the first game is still here. The answer is a resounding "YES!"
-
Overall, Puzzle Quest 2 is a sharper title than the last two games in the franchise. With tons of quests, various ways to customize your characters, and an improved combat system, fans of the original Puzzle Quest are going to have their hands full with this sequel.
-
Puzzle Quest 2 is as fun as the original, and offers enough new content for old hands that they should want to revisit the series. Fair warning, though -- while killing that rat swarm is of the utmost importance, remember: you have people who love you and don't forget to bathe.
-
This sequel goes light on the role-playing but still presents a compelling puzzle experience that's as enjoyable and addictive as the original Puzzle Quest.
-
A game that can just as easily be played all day or for only an hour, is a solid, if somewhat safe addition to the franchise.
-
I'd lean toward recommending the Xbox version because, well, I like achievements, and because it's half the price of the DS cart. But whether you want to play on the couch or on the go, Puzzle Quest 2 is a great way to wile away a few minutes, or a few hours.
-
Puzzle Quest 2 isn't a huge departure from its predecessor, but brings some welcome freshness in the form of weaponry, new spells, and new minigames.
-
Puzzle Quest 2 will take hours from you if you allow it to. It's an addicting game, and one that Xbox Live folk will be enjoying for a long time.
-
Puzzle Quest 2 draws inspiration from its roots and offers sleek and enjoyable gameplay. Do quests, gather treasures, fight monsters and solve puzzles in this very entertaining game. The story and roleplaying elements have been toned down, but the result is still a great puzzle game.
-
This is a surprisingly deep and refreshing take on the now well populated genre of puzzle based downloadable games. With a deep upgrade system and simple yet entertaining game mechanics you'll get lots of entertaining hours in this title. Well worth it's asking price.
-
PQ2 retains much of the same addictive nature from it's predecessor and will likely please most fans of the series, as long as they can tolerate the lackluster visuals and some unique (and occasionally frustrating) new gameplay mechanics.
-
Puzzle Quest 2 offers more tactical variety in battles, but it is best consumed in small chunks, otherwise endless skirmishes with goblins and orcs will put you to sleep.
-
Feb 23, 2011Puzzle Quest 2 has its problems, that much is for sure. Look past the problems, and you'll find a game that's still pretty darn addicting.
-
As with the first Puzzle Quest, then, the concept is what's truly brilliant - the one-more-go aspect of spatial challenges threaded into the reward schedule of an RPG. While the middling implementation's been somewhat improved this time around, the result is still a game that's supremely effective rather than genuinely brilliant.
-
The original RPG puzzler still has its issues, but this remains a worryingly addictive timewaster.
-
After a few mixed spin-offs such as Puzzle Chronicles, the unexpected success of 2008 in the reflexion gender is now back in favor.
-
It's probably more economic to buy Puzzle Quest 2 for Xbox 360 rather than Nintendo DS. But still, regardless of the size of the screen you're playing on, Puzzle Quest 2 doesn't live up to the first one but is still plenty of fun.
