Anyway for the game, I personally did complete it in 8 hours which it is about average (yes not fast completion time) but the multiplayer experience is amazing, which inclines players to communicate, whilst also testing their patience. I played this on the PC of which I cannot fault on the graphics, considering it is running on the Source engine.

Also a big plus is the fact that the game is being supported with FREE DLC, how many devs can you think of that would do the same?

The first portal seemed to have a slightly less obvious design to the levels which allowed for a lot more experimentation. This is my only gripe though. The multiplayer is more mind twisting to me, which is good, though its not as story intensive as the single player. Overall Portal 2 was the best experience I have had on the 360. Expand

This game is one of "those games". To keep the review short this game is: Fun, Challenging and it has a strong story. If you liked portal 1, then you have to play this game, It has some of those gamer moments where you brain and heart goes "oh **** this is awesome". This game would be a 10 but there is hardly any replay value.

Disagree as you might, I find this to be the greatest first-person video game to date, and possibly the longest I've ever played. The story is much more involving than the first game, and the Aperture story is impressively expanded upon from the first game. Also when playing the first game and then comparing it to this one, a lot of the smallest aspects that may have seemed questionable at first end up making perfect sense. The amount of detail payed attention to is simply amazing, plus there are countless little Easter Eggs, some harder to spot than others. The story is very humorous and the characters, including our own mysterious character that we play as - Chell, are very interesting and there are plenty of awesome little twists. The graphics in this game are also the best I've ever seen from Valve and it has the most awesome, yet bizarre ending I've ever seen from any video game ever before. The replay value is, in my opinion, very high, and there's two entirely different storymodes you can play, each as challenging as the last and both have their own special little quirks that make them unique over the other. This is a game that all gamers should play through from start to finish at least once in their lifetimes, because that's how superb it is. It's hard to overstate my satisfaction. Expand

It's hardly a flawless game but you've got to admire what Valve were able to do with such a simple concept. The way they've expanded upon the universe and story created within the first Portal game is definitely worthy of merit. It's also rare to find a game with a such a humble sense of humor. It's a must own.

Like Portal 1, Portal 2 is a smart and fun puzzle platformer with a good sense of humor. If you liked Portal 1 you're pretty much guaranteed to like Portal 2. Vale destacar é claro, a física do jogo. Expand

The story is one the most well written I've ever seen in a game. The plot twists and character developments kept me entertained the whole way through, and the ending of the game was mind blowing. The new characters like Wheatley and Cave Johnson were very well written, masterfully voice-acted, and had hilarious dialogue. The new puzzle elements were a huge improvement. Replacing high-energy pellets with lasers, and adding configurable panels, aerial-faith plates, excursion funnels, and hard-light bridges was a great choice, shifting the game focus from avoiding hazards and timing movements properly, to figuring out the puzzle. i was skeptical about the new paints in the game, but just one puzzle with them I realized how well they fit into the game. Graphically, while Portal too makes some improvements to it's original engine, it's not exactly breathtaking. No Valve games are. However, the design of the levels and virtual destruction of the old test chambers seemed very well built. Some may complain that the game is too short, being only about 5 to 10 hours, depending on how long you take to solve each puzzle, and how much of the game you stop to look at. But I found that the game seemed to be the exact right length, as I felt that if it were any longer, I would get tired of solving puzzles. The co-op aspect is truly a great experience. It's only real downfall is that playing with a complete stranger, or with someone at a different point in the co-op campaign can get tiring. Other than that, I thought that the co-op was a very fun experience. Overall, I though Portal 2 was a great game. The story was fantastic, and the new gameplay elements were very engaging. If your looking for a game exactly like the original, with little story and simple, time and hazard based puzzles, than Portal 2 might disappoint you. However, If you are at all interested in the story, solving test chambers with a friend, or a just plain fun experience, I would absolutely recommend Portal 2. Expand

This game, and its prequel, shows to us that resolving puzzles can be a lot funnier killing soldiers or monsters with guns. Even with only three characters speaking, Portal 2 has one of the best narrative in FPG.
    GOOD THINGS:
Puzzles more difficult, Co-op mode, GLaDOS.
    BAD THINGs:
    Chell still doesn't speak.

But you know why I review it now? Simple. Portal 2 is, in my opinion, the best game ever made. No game has left me so much hungry for more than Portal 2. It had a considerable duration, an emotional grappling, a clever script, an engaging gameplay with a cooperative campaign that is just as fun, and in my opinion, Valve's finest (And Valve has got its fine stuff, ain't it?).
Portal 2 takes off from the simple premise that the exquisitely evil GLADoS (One of the best villains in video game history, and there is no way to argue that) has got you again in the Aperture Science testing facility. The facility is tearing apart, and you, Chell, are trapped in there for a lifetime, or at least that is what GLADoS thinks. Along with you, a new divine character joins this adventure, a robot called Wheatley. Oh my god! IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER!
The turrets, GLADoS, Wheatley.... Even Aperture's CEO Cave Johnson. You will not forget these characters. They are all full of wit and hilarity, and they really attach to you in an emotional ride, and that is the best way to describe Portal 2. It gets better when we talk about gameplay.
The original Portal was well-known by its innovative gameplay but also its short duration (1 or 2 hours). Portal 2 is a pleasant 8-10 hours ride, which are more than enough for a puzzle game. Still, I had so much fun. Puzzles are harder than ever, and the addition of the three gels make puzzles even more mind-bending. They are indeed challenging, and even though the boss battle still was disappointing in contrast to the puzzles, I didn't care, as I found the ending joyful and made me cry as a little b**ch.
The story in Portal 2 was never imagined to be as deep. But as you travel through Aperture's decadence, you will realise how dark the plot is turning halfway through the game, with a twist that will break your heart. Why? Because the characters are so well done, the voice acting is amazing and the game is genius at creating bonds within them and you. Even the Co-op campaign, which was really good and also offers a considerable duration (About 6 hours), has a storyline that leaves you on the edge of your seat. The Co-op campaign is a great addition. It really forces you to be cooperative and responsive to the other player, and the two bots you play as are equally as charming, and puzzles are equally as hard as in the campaign.
The visuals on this game will not blow your wig off, but damn they were impressive. Aperture's decadence is sometimes incredibly detailed, and you will find some scenarios even on Xbox 360 breath-taking. The Co-op campaign doesn't have the same visual dazzle. Still, it wasn't glitchy neither unbearable.
So, that's it. 10/10. My favourite game of all time. The best thing this generation of gaming has brought, and the best dish Valve layed on his big feast of outstanding game. Portal 2 is so great words can't even describe it. You will soon find yourself hopeless asking for a Portal 3. Guess we will have to wait, but I sure want to hear a turret again saying: "Are you still there?" with its T-Pain style voice.

It runs, and looks a lot better on Sony's console. Now, to dive right into it. The graphical fidelity of Portal 2 is much higher quality than that of any of Valve's previous titles. This is because it runs on a heavily modified version of Valve's trademark Source engine, that adds a lot more detail and polish to the game's look. What is
also great about Portal 2 is that it is a much longer game than the original, due to the much larger team, consisting of developers behind Left 4 Dead, Half-Life, Tag: The Power of Paint, and of course the original Narbacular Drop team. The game will take you around 5 or 6 hours to beat, much longer than Portal 1's short length. GLaDOS, Chell, and the iconic turrets all return from Portal 1, but a few more characters are thrown into the mix, making your playtime a lot more interesting. The story takes place a good few thousand years after the original Portal, Aperture is a dilapidated mess, and Chell, with the help of another character who I will not spoil, attempts to escape once again. Another thing I have to note is that Mike Morasky's score in this game is fantastic! Much better than Portal 1's admittedly mostly lackluster soundtrack. Now, on to the co op mode. It is very good. You can tell the developers put a lot of effort into making sure both players started thinking with portals and working as one. And GLaDOS's dialogue, in both the singleplayer and co op is hilarious, even better than in Portal 1. Overall, Portal 2 does a great job of expanding and fleshing out the innovative portal gameplay mechanic first introduced in Narbacular Drop back in 2005, while closing off the Portal storyline that began in 2007 in a satisfying, wholesome manner. I don't think that this game is better than Portal 1. There are things that Portal 1 does better than 2, and vice versa. I think that Portal 1 & 2 are equally good. And that's good enough for me.

The game came out on April 18, 2011, although I’ve only been playing since Christmas of 2016, or a few months as I’m writing this. The console I will be reviewing on will be the XBOX 360, the XBOX version of Portal 2 currently is about $30, but most stores offer discounts.

Some reasons it’s a good reason to play on the XBOX is the easy controls, the controls are very easy to use and can be remembered quickly. It is a puzzle game which is also quite short but usually takes a bit of time. After you do beat it you will have additional challenges to play, which I heard could also be quite frustrating. The puzzles can be great for brain development in almost everyone. This could also be a bad thing, if you aren’t patient this probably isn’t the game for you, or kids under the age of 10. I’m not done with the game because of the puzzles, but I am a pretty patient person so it doesn’t bother me.

Although it is a puzzle solving game, it can be trickier than most. You go through each room with your portal gun, each room gets a bit trickier while trying to figure out where a cube goes, later it is a grey/white companion cube with a single heart on each side. Companion cubes help you to solve the puzzles by laying them on buttons that must have a weight to keep down. You also get the second portal gun pretty early in the game after you finish what I like to refer to as the “tutorial levels”. You aren’t playing the game alone though, the person helping you through the levels is an artificial intelligence names Wheatley. Later you get another one named GLaDOS which makes fun of you when you’re stuck on something. After you do beat the game you get rewarded with a prize and a song.

Overall, Portal 2 is a great game to get your brain going. The puzzles you have to do mixed with the story line you get along with it. It took little to no time to start it up on the XBOX 360, although, I wouldn’t know for other platforms. Sometimes you do get stuck on something, but more than likely that just makes you want to beat the room more because of the story line that is provided. If you have a busy schedule this is a great game as well, you can save at any point and because it goes by rooms you could play one room at a time, although it does get pretty difficult and addicting.

This is no doubt the best game on the Xbox 360. It is fun for everyone, and a great place to start puzzle games.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Portal 2 is one of the most definitive games of the early 2010s, with excellent mechanics, writing, and gameplay. It takes the engaging and addictive puzzle solving from the first game, but expands the scope beyond simple test chambers to learn more about the world of Aperture Labs and it's decrepit facility. Exploring the story of the corporation over the years is a fascinating experience aided by GLaDOS' commentary and input when you find her in her potato body. The writing between GLaDOS and Wheatley on either side of the good/evil divide is absolutely impeccable, simply the best, as well as all the fun bonus dialogue and multi-level jokes that you can activate. Randomly following the commands of the evil AI or "The Part Where He Kills You" with achievement and all is so funny. The way that Portal 2's mechanics also are just a brilliant evolution of the first game's is seen in the likes of the various gels and tunnels, with them making the gameplay just that more advanced and fun. Brilliant music also adds to the game, of course including the great ending songs!

Portal 2 is everything that makes Portal 1 great, and then some! An iconic and memorable game that defined the time it came out.

Valve doesn't miss. Portal 2 along with Portal are the best puzzles games in the history of gaming, and the second game maintains the very high standards of the original. Making a puzzle game is simple, but making a good puzzle game is actually quite hard, and developers almost never get it right. They either create puzzles that use bizarre Nintendo logic to figure out, or are just reskinned math problems, or require the players to find hidden secrets on the map, or worst of all, require knowledge that the player doesn't have.

A good puzzle should be solvable with all the tools that the player KNOWS he has, and the elements of the map in the puzzle should be apparent, and not hidden requiring an element of luck for the player to discover it. A GREAT game puzzle is intuitive within the game world, and should ideally require knowing nothing at all when the player starts. The only puzzle in Portal 2 that broke these rules was the one with the white goo, which isn't explained. It's a pretty cool mechanic though, and discovering what it does was awesome.

Oh, this game is also hilarious, and has a very engaging storyline that unfolds while playing.

So great in so many aspects. The story, the puzzles, the multiplayer mode, the graphics, etc. I don't know why the multiplayer mode looks so much worse visually than the single player mode, though... Expand

Portal 2 was the final product of Valve before going full Online with CSGO and Dota 2. Man, imagine what Valve would be if they continued releasing actual games. Half-Life Episode 3, Portal 3, a new team fortress game maybe the next left 4 dead and a lot of new IPs perhaps but money is evil.

This game absolutely blew my mind the 1st time I played it. Its story, its characters and its game play were truly exceptional. Each level brings to the table new elements and witty dialogue that makes this game feel amazing. Has become the best game that I have ever played.

From the age of golden age gaming, where games were games and gamers were gamers. This is a game made with passion and creativity, not like the garbage churned out these days. It has charm, personality, and passion in spades. My only criticism is the puzzles get tiresome and too challenging and I wanted it to end around halfway, but the lovable Wheatley and co, make up for it easily.

Indeed, this is both mathematical and storytelling art-work; it teams a gripping narrative with an inventive gameplay mechanic that makes for an excellent and unforgettable ride.

A huge and stunning sequel, as witty as it is brain-bendingly challenging. [July 2011, p.98]
