Its irresistible sense of style speaks for itself, but given how much I love its predecessor, the biggest compliment I can pay it is that it’s 100% the sequel that Persona 4 Arena deserved.

With a brand new story, new characters, new game modes, and other minor and major changes, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is a great way to expand the previous fighting game born from the cooperation between Atlus and Arc System Works. The combat system has been studied to grant a good challenge for both experienced players and newcomers.

Not only is Persona 4 Arena Ultimax a must play for Persona fans, we'd go as far to say that it's a must play for fighting game fans as well.

It is a fun, balanced and accessible fighter by a veteran development team that knows how to make an excellent arcade fighting game. However, it still finds a way to be true to the source material, despite the game being of a very different genre.

It improves the original formula, but, obviously, doesn't surprise as the original did. Still, one of the best fighting games available at the moment.

New characters, new modes and new mechanics. Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is a big deal for fighting games and also for Persona saga lovers. Solid and improved sequel.

An improvement over its predecessor in every way. The intriguing story could be told in a more captivating style though.

Atlus and Arc System Works have succeeded in creating another solid fighting game. Ultimax makes small tweaks to the fighting system, but it also keeps things fresh with new characters, an intriguing story mode that Persona fans will adore, and plenty of modes to keep you busy.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is a stellar follow up to Arc System Works’ 2012 offering.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is a nice, frenetic and adequately deep fighting game. If you're a Persona fan, you should give it a chance.

Ultimax is a fine follow-up to Arena and a no-brainer for anyone who enjoyed its predecessor, whether you're in it for the story or the fighting. The narrative is arguably not as memorable this time around, but it's still a wonderful excuse to spend more time with characters you've already spent a hundred hours with and see the mysteries from the previous game resolved.

Ultimax is very similar to the original game, but it's bigger and better in every way.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax could have easily been a cash-in, a weak standalone expansion that merely included a few extra characters and call it a day. But both the extensive episodes in story mode and the lengthy Golden Arena mode bolster the already strong multiplayer modes, all of which should satisfy casual fans of the Persona series and hardcore players who wish to perfect their battle skills.

Even with some of the controls catered to novices, the game ultimately rewards patience and dedication. The result is one of the deeper fighting games I've come across, bolstered by an engaging presentation. Learning can be time-consuming, but for some of the keen-looking moves you can dish out, it's worth the effort.

Much as Persona 4 Arena was a great fighter in its day, Ultimax immediately renders it obsolete. Whether you're a fan of fighting games or just want another chance to hang out with the familiar faces of the Inaba region, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax has you covered and then some.

Solid game for the dying Xbox360 (kind of...). Before reading my review, I recommend ignoring the current User Score, because there are likeSolid game for the dying Xbox360 (kind of...). Before reading my review, I recommend ignoring the current User Score, because there are like (at this time of writing) NO other reviews being written for this version. There aren't really any differences between this and the PS3 version (maybe sony fanboys trolling? idk doesn't matter), so you're getting the same thing you're getting with the PS3 version, with small differences in the trophy system and online system. Anyways - about the game; it's a solid sequel to Arena that does everything better, putting Arena to the pits. I found the music to be great, especially hearing the new tracks and old ones mixed so well together (though there wasn't too much in terms of new soundtracks, other than the main themes for new characters and some other ones). The graphics are smooth, great, and the gameplay is fluid and fun. Although I'm not a big fan of 2D fighters, the gameplay was easy enough to learn, meaning that even a noob can pick this game up and have fun. The story mode is great, but only transcends 'your average story' if you've played through at least 1 or 1.5 of the games (part of P3 or part of P4). The menus are really stylish, character portraits are beautiful in HD, the extras are nice albeit a bit tricky to view at a quick pace. Overall, the length of the game isn't that long, but the high amount of replayability from the Golden (straight battles 50+ in a row with rpg dungeon-like stats), Arcade, and Online modes + 2 player local helps extend the length of this game to a great extent. Highly recommended from me, and once more - ignore that hideous user score this game has (only on the X360 version)!
