Newer gamers will likely find themselves frustrated by the trial-and-error single-player campaign, though it will be a fun return home for veterans of the franchise. The real allure is the surprisingly robust online multiplayer matches.
-
BoomtownThere has been an enormous development over the past 10 years in the shooter genre and Perfect Dark obviously can not measure up with the latest in this genre . But if you know what you're getting you'll have plenty of fun with this welcome re-release.
-
The updated graphics cannot mask that this classic hasn’t aged gracefully. Although Perfect Dark remains a good shooter and it feels fantastic to play this game without drops in the framerate, time has moved on since the release of this game.
-
Perfect Dark lives through its various multiplayer modes and not because of its great graphics. Despite all the cons it is a nice game for a quick round full of action.
-
Unless you inject nostalgia directly into your veins, you'll find that Perfect Dark just doesn't hold up.
-
This might be one title that is best left in the past, where rose tinted glasses and time itself can protect it from the games that it no doubt inspired. Those which have long since (and far) surpassed it.
-
AceGamezIt’s like a favourite toy: well-loved, and good for a quick blast of nostalgia now and again, but nothing else.
-
There's a good chance you're just nostalgic if you think this is a great game. The artificial intelligence and the single player mode however have their faults.
-
The missions are decent, but the multiplayer is the real reason to play this game.
-
Needless to say, if you’ve still got a lot of fond memories of the original Perfect Dark and your clunky old N64, try the demo at least – you might still love it despite its rather old-fashioned look and feel.
-
It’s by no means a bad game, in parts it’s still devastatingly delightful and for 800MSP you could do far worse, but if you haven’t been on board before just don’t expect any fireworks.
-
Xbox World 360 Magazine UKA nostalgia-fest which hasn't aged well - but it will still bring a massive smile to the faces of old blokes. [June 2010, p.118]
-
Despite it being a killer remake, Perfect Dark itself is past its prime.
