Nowhere near as good or fresh as the original. In fact it follows pretty much the exact gameplay mechanic. There have been quite a few improvements from the original and they are noticeable, but the game really just feels like you're more or less doing the same thing as before and introducing very little new to the fray, unlike the original that add a whole lot. But I will say that it doesNowhere near as good or fresh as the original. In fact it follows pretty much the exact gameplay mechanic. But I will say that it does try, perhaps a bit too hard. It almost feels like the developers were too scared to do something new and just add tweaks and superficial improvements to try to disguise who little they actually changed. The story itself is also a bit weak, and you feel very little connection with most of the character (aside from your minions of course.) Overall: A poor follow up to an excellent game, but that aside it still is allot of fun and is still worth playing, just don't have any high expectations. Expand

This game just barely doesn't epically fail, and really the only thing that keeps it that way is the minion humor. Horrible sweep/camera control setup, pathetic "save system" (limited to autosaves unless you are in your Netherworld Tower looking at the map), several bugs/glitches, etc. Too small a world to play in (you'll be seeing the same areas over and over for the most part)This game just barely doesn't epically fail, and really the only thing that keeps it that way is the minion humor. Seems very rushed.
Sadly, the demo was more entertaining/fun.

While not as satisfying as the original overlord, still a very enjoyable game, great humor and a fun story, pc controls could be better.
There is abit of customization and building up your keep to give extra flavor, but the true joy is in the minions and their comments, and their wacky choice og gear and weapons.

A rare game, especially nowadays when it comes to its style, a game about being an evil guy that doesnt take itself to serious is always fun to see, it has fun and unique gameplay but not perfect, it gets to be a bit clunky at times and the lack of a dodge/block button really limits the overlord arsenal, however the main point of the gameplay is to order your minions around, and even thatA rare game, especially nowadays when it comes to its style, a game about being an evil guy that doesnt take itself to serious is always fun to see, it has fun and unique gameplay but not perfect, it gets to be a bit clunky at times and the lack of a dodge/block button really limits the overlord arsenal, however the main point of the gameplay is to order your minions around, and even that isnt as perfect as 1 would want, competent but a bit frustrating when push comes to shove.

Overall: The game has a lot of charm and funny moments, decent soundtrack, few fun sidequests, a decently sized world to conquer and a bit clunky but fun gameplay

Concept is more interesting than the execution. Controls can be finicky especially when factoring in camera control. Gameplay can be fun but is often one note. Hit or miss levels. Forgettable music. But level design is really good, minions have so much character, and the gameplay is overall decently fun.

  1. Overlord II feels like a shining beacon of quality. Not only is it a distinct improvement on the original, but the new features add greatly to what was already a superbly entertaining game. It manages to strike an excellent balance between being challenging and rewarding, and does so throughout with a wicked smile on its face.

Overlord 2 offers a lot of options for customization, be it in the form of minion upgrades, spell specializations, and purely aesthetic options like how to decorate your fortress and which of your mistresses you choose to favor.
  3. It’s very Diablo-like in its playability, in that it often throws a lot of opposition at you, but with a full complement of minions and a powerful weapon, you’ll usually cut through them nicely.
