  1. Ninety-Nine Nights II is one of the most difficult games available, but the real challenge is putting up with this mess. Boring missions coupled with tedious combat isn't a recipe for fun. Stay away unless you're a glutton for punishment.

Ninety-Nine Nights 2 is dull, tedious, frustrating, and many other negative words.
  3. Fans of the original Nintey-Nine Nights game will likely be much more forgiving when it comes to the sequel. The core hasn't changed much, and the online play is decent, though the lack of co-op is a disappointment. As for those who have not played the original...well, there is little reason to start now.

Q Entertainment has done her very best but unfortunately it failed to deliver a good game. Ninety-Nine Nights II just has too many shortcomings. We would like to add a fourth N to the title. The N for no, don't buy this game.
  5. A standard Hack'n'slash, with no interesting features but button mashing.
  6. Its on-line mode is a step forward, but for this little step there is a countless of backward steps too.
  7. A piss poor title that should bring a sour face to any hardcore hack and slash fan.
  8. But there are flashes of inspiration here, clues to the competence and ingenuity of the developer. Sadly these are drowned out by unnecessary bulk and repetition, resulting in an experience that's flabby and uninspiring regardless of your appreciation of its aims.
  9. Ninety-Nine Nights is a boring game. If you're looking for an interesting experience, look at something else, 'cause this hack 'n slash can't offer nothing good even during the multiplayer sessions.

A brutal combination of brain-numbing monotony and maddening aggravation. Unless you're in dire need of a Dynasty Warriors-esque fix, Ninety-Nine Nights 2 is not for you.
  11. 40
With its myriad of problems and creatively bankrupt game design, this "new" game feels like a retread from the moment you boot it up to the moment you chuck it into the garbage can in disgust.
  12. Ninety-Nine Nights II has the fast combat, loads of enemies and fantasy setting that you expect from this genre, but it just misses the mark in terms of fun. The fighting is tedious and the enemies are either unchallenging peons or hulking monsters who can crush you the instant you make a mistake.
  13. Edge Magazine
    40
The fun is spread far too thin. [Sept 2010, p.94]
  14. No need to argue, here : Ninety-Nine Nights II will not be the one to contradict the poor reputation of a franchise that should probably stop its course now.

Ninety-Nine Nights 2 is not a bad game; it's merely one whose appeal is limited to those blessed with saintly patience, an insatiable need to play every fantasy game, a penchant for mass genocide or some unlikely combination of the three. [Issue#101, p.106]
  16. Unless you have more money than sense I highly suggest you give this one a miss and go play something else.
  17. This mindless hack-and-slash action game starts out feeling tired and repetitive and only goes downhill from there.
  18. A bland experience that does nothing to increase the appeal of a struggling genre. Avoid.
  19. Overall, this is a really pathetic follow up for to what I considered one of the better hack and slash games in the genre.
  20. Sadly the result is a forgettable game that might be worth a weekend rental, but nothing more.

Dull missions, repetitive combat and dreary level design. [Oct 2010, p.87]
  22. Xbox World 360 Magazine UK

Little imagination, endless repetition and incredible frustration. [Oct 2010, p.90]
  23. There is fun violence and there is pointless violence. Ninety-Nine Nights II falls in under the later category, and should be avoided at all costs.
  24. There's no getting around the monotonous mayhem, and N3II unfortunately assumes that players are as mindless as the limited fun it offers.
  25. Impossibly tedious Dynasty Warriors clone that offers up not one ounce of entertainment for enduring its soul-shatteringly dull world and combat.
