    Metro feels like a really bad version of Bioshock stuck on rails ala the COD games with none of the fun or polish that either of those titles provide. Given it 's an FPS it fails on the most basic premise, the shooting, it's broken! For example, sometimes a double barrel shotgun to face would send an enemy reeling other times you can empty both barrels reload and repeat they still standMetro feels like a really bad version of Bioshock stuck on rails ala the COD games with none of the fun or polish that either of those titles provide. After trying a number of times to get into the game I just gave up, a few nice cut scenes and half decent story do not cover up the fact it's just not very good.… Expand

    Metro 2033 has a decent premise and setting, but the gameplay is broken. The controls often feel unresponsive and clunky. I was uninterested in the story and characters, and the enemies were unvaried. I am struggling to find any positives from my playthrough, but the campaign is a decent length and the setting is atmospheric. If you can get over the glitchy controls and boring story, youMetro 2033 has a decent premise and setting, but the gameplay is broken. The controls often feel unresponsive and clunky.     A game with massive potential, but almost 90% of it is wasted. Some great dialogue, but in larger areas, you're given 5 or 6 people speaking over each other and you're left with inane chatter. Guns are fairly bland. Story is compelling, but very little chance to explore further. As mentioned in some reviews, the gunplay is buggy and hit detection is way off (for example, the A game with massive potential, but almost 90% of it is wasted. Overall design of the gun is brilliant, and graphics/models are fantastic, but the overall 'grey' colouring wears thin. I was quite excited to pick this up, but after the play, I found it difficult to come back to, playing it just for the achievements.… Expand

    I really wanted to like Metro 2033, i loved the storyline, the graphics, and the narrators voice oozes atmosphere, yeah i really wanted to like Metro 2033, but the fact that it's one of the most frustrating games i've ever played means i didn't like it at all.

    I mean who's idea was it that when you die on the surface because you've run out of oxygen filters, that when the game reloads    I really wanted to like Metro 2033, i loved the storyline, the graphics, and the narrators voice oozes atmosphere, yeah i really wanted to like Metro 2033, but the fact that it's one of the most frustrating games i've ever played means i didn't like it at all.

    I mean who's idea was it that when you die on the surface because you've run out of oxygen filters, that when the game reloads from the previous checkpoint you still have no oxygen filters, so you die quickly and on and on it goes, until you realize, you have to go back a whole section of the game to buy or scavenge said filters, and then replay through it all again, add a clunky shooting mechanism and you have a hugely disappointing game.

    They should have stayed with GSC and learned how to develop this franchise. 1) Quick time events suck. Especially in FPS. 2) Linear campaign is BORING. 3) Cut-scenes are too frequent. 4) The more you play the game, the more it will suck as it is not a Survival Horror at all. It cannot decide between a stealth/FPS/movie? 5) Plot is less than worthless. It actually would be less annoying if They should have stayed with GSC and learned how to develop this franchise. 1) Quick time events suck.     Loin de l'ambiance sardonique des Fallout, Metro 2033 est une vision sinistre mais assez bien écrite de la post-apocalypse nucléaire : les survivants vivent comme des rats dans un métro de Moscou infesté de bêtes mutantes aussi agressives que voraces et chaque sortie à l'extérieur implique le port du masque obligatoire avec encore des hordes de monstres ici et là, tout en devant gérer laLoin de l'ambiance sardonique des Fallout, Metro 2033 est une vision sinistre mais assez bien écrite de la post-apocalypse nucléaire : les survivants vivent comme des rats dans un métro de Moscou infesté de bêtes mutantes aussi agressives que voraces et chaque sortie à l'extérieur implique le port du masque obligatoire avec encore des hordes de monstres ici et là, tout en devant gérer la durée de vie, on s'en doute, des plus limitées du dit-masque.

    Sinistre et glauque donc et de surcroît avec un système de troc à base de munitions d'occasion et de munitions neuves (ben voyons...) qui oblige au choix perdant-perdant entre la puissance de tir (balles neuves) et la possibilité (et même la nécessité en fait) du troc contre de l'équipement et des armes, sans compter les améliorations diverses et variées. On se retrouve alors à tirer des bastos en carton sur les méchants monstres... ou les méchants communistes ou les méchants fachos !

    On voit le caractère bancal de ce système des plus foireux et très limité. Ainsi, si vous n'avez pas acheté de masque de vision nocturne, vous serez très embêté quand il faudra s'infiltrer, vu (!) qu'on y voit que dalle et que les ennemis eux y voient très bien et entendent tout : pas la moindre hésitation, ils vous repèrent aussi sec et vous alignent la tronche. On l'a compris, la partie infiltration de Metro 2033 est complètement pétée.

    On peut rentrer dans le tas mais là encore, sans munitions dignes de ce nom et sans munitions tout court à part celles du fusil deux coups tout rouillé, on ira pas loin face à des lascars surentraînés, durs-à-cuire et durs à tuer. Le jeu relativement fluide vous met des bâtons dans les roues au premier combat venu par ses saccades et ses ralentissements. La maniabilité est en outre des plus faiblardes et notoirement inférieure aux ténors du genre.

    La cerise sur le gâteau concerne enfin ces putains de sauvegardes automatiques mal placées et globalement l'effet couloir assez prononcé du jeu par ailleurs. Jeu assez joli pourtant et bénéficiant d'une excellente VF, même si les 4 ou 5 (très bons) doubleurs se partagent les 50 personnages non-joueurs. Dommage, car la base était là ma foi pour construire un jeu assez digne d'intérêt.    … Expand

    This game had great potential: interesting story, good scenery, and great graphics engine. Then the developers decided to add minimalist achievements, and lots of missable 'flashpoints' On top of that, the frequent cutscenes and boring narration, and the fact that the game can't decide if it's a FPS or a stealth adventure - that spoiled the game for me.

There were also times when I entered new sections of the game without any ammunition, and had to replay certain sections to obtain resources. Battling multiple enemies can leave players exhausted, and a number of them (the monsters in particular) require an unusual number of bulletsWhile the game looks pretty, Metro 2033's gameplay severely hampers what could have been an enjoyable FPS. This is not a particularly positive aspect, because ammunition and other important items are scarce in this world.     If you're a first-person shooter fanatic that's not into micromanagement and just wants to kill things, this is definitely not your game. However, if you're looking for something in the genre that digs a little deeper, this one demands exploration.
