Oct 21, 2010Medal of Honor is more than just a reboot of a storied franchise. It takes the FPS genre to a whole new level.
-
Oct 21, 2010It's hard to say how MOH will stack up against the competition but if you were on the fence know that there is an interesting and emotional single player included alongside a multiplayer offering that has enough modes and unlocks to keep things interesting for some time.
-
Oct 21, 2010The return of Medal of Honor is a success. The game looks really good, and plays even better. The single player campaign is short but really intense. The multiplayer grants tons of fun and great challenges for those looking for something less arcade than Modern Warfare 2.
-
Oct 21, 2010While the battle between the two modern warfare juggernauts will be settled in multiplayer, the single player stands well enough on its own to justify your purchase.
-
Oct 21, 2010Quotation forthcoming.
-
Oct 21, 2010MoHs singleplayer-experience can't match Infinity Ward's masterpiece, but DICEs Multiplayer part countervails that little shortfall pretty well. Bottom line: No Must-Have, but a good shooter nevertheless.
-
Oct 21, 2010EA failed to kick Call of Duty off the genre-throne but still entertains a lot with its unique shooter-experience. The pacing, feeling and presentation of the short solo-campaign is refreshingly unique. Even though some minor technical hicups and some rather frustrating sequences bothered us, Medal of Honor is an overall pleasant and exciting experience.
-
Oct 21, 2010Medal of Honor leaves you with a shallow taste. On the one hand, it's a very good and intense game, but on the other hand, there are so many elements you've already seen in other shooters. Moreover, the graphics really could have been much better.
-
Oct 21, 2010Intense without being brash, and focused on a tight situation as opposed to a global theater of operation, the relaunched Medal of Honor definitely finds its own voice as a military shooter. It's polished and visually appealing, while providing a little gaming perspective on a controversial military action. And you don't get that every day.
-
Oct 21, 2010MOH offers a welcome return of form, although totally lacking in features for the solo gamer.
-
Oct 21, 2010Medal of Honor is a good alternative to the Call of Duty series even if it doesn't add anything new to the mix. Due to its very short single player campaign, buy it only if you're planning to spend many hours online.
-
Oct 21, 2010Like Battlefield before it, Medal of Honor is an engrossing online shooter with an above-average campaign mode bolted on. As a result, it's a purchase you should only seriously consider if your console is hooked up to the intarwebs. On a wider scale though, this reboot thrusts Medal of Honor back into the spotlight, and for the first time in ages we can't wait to see where EA take the series next.
-
Oct 21, 2010A great shooter, that suffers from some technical flaws and a multiplayer without the charisma of the competitors, allthough funny and compelling.
-
Oct 21, 2010A solid FPS, but not the masterpiece that EA promised to the gamers.
-
Oct 21, 2010It is a solid step in the right direction. It has actions, it has suspense, and it has solid experiences that bring awe as the bullets are flying. The graphic anomalies take a bit away, but you cannot help but root for this game, and the definite heart felt honor it seems to want to present to the men and women in the military.
-
Oct 21, 2010While the multiplayer has its cons, it definitely has potential to be built into something more and I wouldn't be surprised if downloadable content releases soon. The single-player campaign is enough to hold anyone through a gripping story with non-stop and fast-paced action and a trio of compelling characters.
-
Oct 21, 2010While some elements are fantastically executed and the main campaign is quite compelling, there just isn't enough innovation or diversity in the multiplayer or beyond the story to pry people away from its behemoth of a competitor.
-
Oct 21, 2010It manages to nail the tenets of its genre, but with few trimmings. It's so blunt in its approach that it makes many other military shooters seem fantastical in comparison. And while the level of reverence shows respect for the subject matter, it's aimed a little too squarely at military buffs. You'll feel like you're painting by the numbers as you paint targets.
-
Jan 16, 2011A successful comeback of the Medal of Honor-series, which is far away from reaching the top-ranks of the shooter genre. The short amount of the single-player campaign is really annoying.
-
Oct 25, 2010It's not a bad first outing as a series reboot, but EA has a lot of work to do if they want that number one FPS spot back.
-
Oct 21, 2010Medal of Honor's campaign is an exceptional experience, but the total package simply doesn't beat Call of Duty...But at least EA's getting closer.
-
Oct 21, 2010Really, the biggest thing letting down Medal of Honor is its lack of originality. This may irk the discerning gamer, who's concerned that the art form is being strangled by disreputable franchise clones, but if you're the sort of gamer who couldn't give two hoots then you'll find one of the best shooters of the year in Medal of Honor.
-
Oct 21, 2010EA tries to show the war from an ordinary soldier's eyes, something that they managed surprisingly well. There are still some Rambo-moments, but overall the pace is relatively quiet. There are some problems with too many scripted sequences, but thanks to the superb atmosphere, one can see past the misses. In addition to the campaign is also an entertaining and well-functioning online mode, which, however, might well have had a bit more content.
-
Oct 21, 2010Medal of Honor doesn't really do something we haven't seen before in shooters. It is however a great game that brings us a solid experience filled with a lot of action. That is why the game is certainly worth buying.
-
Oct 21, 2010Medal of Honor is a rollercoaster. It's fast and exciting and over all too quickly, and although you're on rails, you'll want to ride it again and again...My heart wants to rate this so much higher for all the enjoyment of the first ride, but my head doesn't quite agree.
-
Oct 21, 2010Medal of Honor's campaign is well-scripted and well-acted, and parts of it are superbly nerve-racking, but its uninventive missions and premature ending left us wanting. The multiplayer, however, is a different game. No, it's actually a different game, and it's what DICE does best.
-
Oct 21, 2010The campaign is short but intense, and the multiplayer is one of the best that you can now play on consoles.
-
Oct 21, 2010Medal of Honor stacks up with its competitors and holds its own thanks to the excellent job DICE did on the multiplayer component. Sure, the single player campaign is short, and the A.I... well it's not the brightest, but as a complete package it works.
-
Oct 21, 2010MoH is certainly better for its shift from WW2 to modern warfare, but veterans who recall the salad days of the series may be expecting more.
-
Oct 21, 2010Ultimately, I think MoH is an interesting attempt to address war in a respectful way, and it should find its niche as a legitimate alternative for gamers who don't want to jump on the Call of Duty bandwagon.
-
Oct 21, 2010It certainly does little to advance the theory that videogames are responsible enough to tell stories within sensitive contexts - it's compelling and enjoyable to play on a visceral level, but it's a shame it lacks the creative bravery to match the courage of the heroes it so reveres.
-
Xbox World 360 Magazine UKDec 25, 2010Bland story mode meets sensational multiplayer. If you're not online, you can safely deduct 20%. [Issue#98, p.77]
-
Oct 21, 2010It is a good game, but not the great return we expected. The multiplayer is good but lacks something more to compete with the greatest ones. The single player lacks much more.
-
Oct 21, 2010Paying tribute to our brave men and women in uniform-who often go through situations that are unimaginable to all of us sitting at home with controllers in our hands-is a great thing. The step that EA has taken towards establishing a precedent for exploring topical subject matter in a video game may be a small one, but it's still important. But almost everything else about Medal of Honor, while enjoyable, makes it hard to shake the feeling of playing just another military shooter.
-
Oct 21, 2010The top strength of Medal of Honor is in the single-player campaign, and Danger Close has done an incredible job of putting together a tribute to the Special Forces community, honoring their many sacrifices. The same can't be said for the effort DICE has put forth with multiplayer, as it feels unpolished and in some regards unbalanced and unfinished.
-
Oct 27, 2010In the end I was satisfied, but this could have been so much more.
-
Oct 21, 2010Medal of Honor is just a copy & paste from Infinity Ward's series, both in experience and situations; maybe it's a bit more realistic, but it isn't fun like Infinity's games. You feel like you're playing the same game, and it's not a good thing. The best: the multiplayer mode, which takes the best features from Bad Company and mixes them up with those ideas that made Modern Warfare the best online game out there.
-
Oct 21, 2010It's a mostly well-built title with seemingly good intentions, but it lacks the weight -- whether it's in the narrative, campaign length, or feature set -- to seem like much more than a quality diversion.
-
Oct 21, 2010Maybe moving the Medal of Honor series to the present day is the right commercial decision, but to compete with a saga like Modern Warfare you need to develop a more compelling gameplay experience. Also the game is incredibly linear with just run and gun action for its campaign, and the multiplayer part is good, but maybe not great enough to make this a real contender for Call of Duty.
-
Oct 21, 2010Medal of Honor offers a cohesive campaign and fierce multiplayer competition for those who don't mind a little bit of tarnish on their first-person shooters.
