Jul 28, 2012Sega Studios Australia has surprised me with the depth and quality of their official London 2012 game. They seem to have really put their hearts into making it a great sports game and not just some easily forgotten mishmash, and they have succeeded with their goal.

Jul 28, 2012London 2012 is a nice step forward for Olympic games, and it's got us wondering just what Sega will do next when the 2014 Winter Olympics come about. I guess we'll find out soon enough.
-
Jul 9, 2012Overall London 2012 is one of the better official tie in games. It is easily one of the most fleshed out, with great variety. It may look a little ropey in places, but as an overall package it is a fine game in its own right.
-
Jul 11, 2012Overall, a good game, but not one you'll play for hours and hours (unless you want it as part of your exercise routine), and just tough enough that you'll feel guilty for occupying the couch while our real athletes compete in London.
-
Games Master UKJul 24, 2012Events demanding more than fast fingers make this the best Olympic game yet. [Sept 2012, p.100]
-
Jul 10, 2012So I'd venture to say that SEGA has managed to deliver a really fun, fairly precise Olympic experience this year, and if you have any sort of interest in the Olympic Games, you should probably check this out. It's definitely one of the better Olympic or Track and Field style games I've played in recent memory (outside of the mascot stuff), and is well worth your time.
-
Jul 2, 2012Is this the gold medal for Sega's Olympic venture? Not really, but it is definitely better than the Beijing predecessor.
-
X-ONE Magazine UKAug 18, 2012A very solid performance. [Issue#88, p.78]
-
Jul 31, 2012London 2012 is the first official Olympic Games videogame without button mashing gameplay, and it is also a good attempt to give back the feelings of this spectacular event.
-
Jul 2, 2012A solid sports game with wonderful presentation and superb commentary.
-
Jun 29, 2012It's still a collection of relatively shallow events competing against other sports games, such as FIFA, that have the luxury of offering vast depth within a single sport. As a result even though this is the best multi-sport game we've played in an age, it still feels more like a platter of hors d'oeuvres than a gut-filling steak dinner.
-
Jun 29, 2012There's nothing life-changing about it, but if you're looking for a compendium of sporting activities that will keep you entertained until the real thing arrives, you could – and previous years are conclusive proof of this - do an awful lot worse.
-
Jun 27, 2012Not just an Olympics tie-in but a proper sports game, with the majority of events finding a good balance between realism and enjoyment.
-
Jul 30, 2012Overall, London 2012 - The Official Video Game of the Olympic Games is the best attempt at an Olympics video game to date. There's a great range of mini-games and the title has been brilliantly developed, though is let down by general repetitiveness and the lifespan of the game isn't ideal. If you like the look of it, this is definitely worth at least a rental.
-
Jul 21, 2012While it captures the grand feel of the Games, London 2012's dull campaign stops it from taking home the gold.
-
Jul 18, 2012London 2012 represents a major step forward that makes it better than Beijing 2008, but unfortunately the technical issues don't make it one of the greatest titles of its genre.
-
Jul 17, 2012The official game of the Olympics offers exactly what to expect: lots of sports with a simple and direct gameplay. Its control has improved in comparison with previous olympic efforts, but it still has its issues, and motion controls are not that convincing. This SEGA game delivers what users want, but nothing else.
-
Jun 27, 2012London 2012: The Videogame is a classic Olympic game, with simple mechanics and repetitive situations. Not a smashing-button system, but too simple controls. Still fun with friends, four in local or eight in online modes.
-
Jul 3, 2012London 2012 offers the same levels of playability and performance found in their previous work on Beijin 2008… and that´s happened 4 years ago.
-
Jul 30, 2012London 2012 is undoubtedly one of the best Summer Olympic games, but everyone who has played a couple of those, knows that doesn't say much. Some sports impress, while others fall short. The way SEGA has handled the grand sporting event, still isn't up to par.
-
Jul 30, 2012London 2012 is a mixed bag of good and bad, just like the sports it represents. It's dull as the UK weather can be in single-player mode, with local multiplayer being the only saving grace for the game. If you're looking for some nights of local multiplayer fun then this will supply that, but no doubt you'll be done with it before the Olympics finish.
-
Jul 25, 2012Unfortunately, London 2012 is nothing more than the Olympics for button bashers. The mix of quick-time events makes it somewhat less painful, but that doesn't change the fact that it's an unpolished game. There are decent aspects to it, but there's more to gain from the world's largest sporting event.
-
Jul 21, 2012Online multiplayer and tournaments liven up the competition, but London 2012's uneven gameplay makes it more of a sampler plate than a main course.
-
Jun 27, 2012There are lots of events that can be enjoyed time and time again, although far less than the 46 advertised. Motion controls add very little, but do at least offer new ways to experience the game, alongside a plethora of game modes. While London 2012: The Game may fall short of Gold, it's certainly deserving of a respectable Bronze.
-
Jul 31, 2012Slightly better than its quadriennial predecessors, London 2012 suffers from an highly unbalanced difficulty, short longevity and the absence of real-world athletes. Mostly enjoyable in multiplayer.
-
Jul 3, 2012Honestly, London 2012 - The Official Video Game of the Olympic Games is not the blockbuster you were waiting for. This feeling is justified by bad graphics and gameplay mechanics that won't help players breaking records. So what's good in the gam ? Some events are fun to play and a pretty good game lengh could offer an interesting experience. However, after Beijing, we were clearly hoping for something better.
-
Jul 14, 2012For now the best game with the Olympic Games' licence. This one differs from the others by its audiovisual quality. In other respects it's all the same - it's unfunny, button-beating as usual that lacks any kind of passion or motivation.
-
Jul 2, 2012London 2012 has a few standouts among its 45 or so minigames, but the vast majority are far too forgettable and repetitive to keep your attention for more than a few hours.
-
Jun 29, 2012London 2012 is likely be another piece of licensed memorabilia for anyone who already has the dinnerware, tea towel, and bedspread, but it'll struggle to convince any of the Olympiad unconverted who have a picture of Sebastian Coe affixed to a dartboard in their kitchen.
-
Jun 29, 2012Overall, London 2012 is a lot better than I expected on a presentational level and in its best-realised events. But the lazy repetition of dull mechanics throughout the poorer activities (gymnastics, diving) means there's as many bores as scores.
-
Jun 26, 2012Very ordinary, even though it offers a rhythm-based gameplay with QTEs rather than the usual button mashing one, London 2012 is just another Olympic Games title without any brilliant ideas. It's not very pretty and not very well animated either. Its content isn't overwhelming either.
