With a unique tongue-in-cheek take on the Original Trilogy, LEGO Star Wars II lets you build and battle your way through your favorite film moments. From Darth Vader's pursuit of Princess Leia aboard her Blockade Runner to Luke's final confrontation with Emperor Palpatine. For the first time ever, characters can get in and out of vehicles, as well as ride creatures. Because it's LEGO style, you can also mix and match the body parts of more than 50 playable characters to create one of millions of possible LEGO Star Wars heroes. And on PS2, Xbox and Windows platforms, a game save from the first LEGO Star Wars can unlock another 50-plus additional characters for Free Play mode -- that's more than 100 total characters. Other exciting additions include free-roaming vehicle levels, the ability to switch ships at will in Free Play mode, cool new character-specific attacks and maneuvers, playable mini-kit vehicles, an adaptive difficulty option and more. 1. A wonderful game that rewards experimentation and co-operation.

Star Wars fans, LEGO fanatics or lovers of the first game will be in ecstasy. A must-buy. [Oct 2006, p.94]
  3. A good example of a developer using an excellent license (in this case, two licenses) to its advantage.

The melee is still a little simplistic and the camera can get in the way, but it really feels like you're in a Lego universe with some incredibly varied puzzles as well as some intense action.

Fans of Star Wars in general need to play this game and anyone looking for a break from all the shooters, racers, and RPGs flooding the market today owe it to themselves to check out this simple, yet highly addictive little action title.
  6. It's tough to recommend the Xbox 360 version over the much cheaper Xbox incarnation despite the enhanced graphics and performance, but Jedi Gamerscore-whores will no doubt pick it up for the fairly easy 1000 points it offers.

LSW2 is a quality title, but it suffers the same problem as the films it parodies.

Worth it for the co-op multiplayer alone. My only complaint are the lengthy cut-scenes you have to watch when replaying a level. Very, very fun.

It's the first game that my wife wants to play with me. It's cute, challenging, and definitely is entertaining. For all those games that have a huge learning curve, and super duper hard stuff, this is the anti-game. Pick it up, play it, and have fun the whole way. If you have kids, this is highly recommended, and for kids pre-teen and younger, this is a 10+. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This was one of the first games I ever had as a kid and I still enjoy it to this day even though some deaths feel unfair and it's tedious especially on the Xbox 360 when you try to go for the achievements but there's no major bugs or glitches that ruins the experience or any glitches that would ruin the fun of the game. Some kids games never quite hit the mark for adults, but this game I found just as enjoyable to play as my kids did (even my wife is trying to get the 100% complete achievement, which probably says more about the enjoyment of the game than anything else, as she normally is not interested in playing on the 360). Obviously the Star Wars theme is one the main reasons why adults will relate to the game, the fact that you get to play out your favourite parts of the movies is really fun; but if everything else was crap this would not be enough to make the game good. So why is it a good game ? ... the fact that it's Lego and the characters and the environment they are in smashes like Lego does is a big reason for it. Also the graphics are good, the sounds are fun, the controls are easy for anyone to use, and the humor in the cut scenes is a nice touch. The other big reason for it being so good is the 2 person co-op mode, which for a family game is a big plus. Replay value for this game is also good; once you have played through the story mode with the specific characters for that story you can then go back in with any character and replay the story, which you will need to do if you want to find all the secret stuff that only some characters can get to. If you have kids you would be crazy not to buy this game; and even if you don't have kids, as an adult you will find this game quite addictive. Expand

Combining Star Wars with Lego then putting it all together in a video game is just one of the best concepts ever for a video game. this game delivers on all accounts, It's funny, compelling and re playable over and over again. Taking part in all the memorable scenes from the original trilogy is a must for any Star Wars fan, And with the added humor that lucasarts has injected into the game really makes it a joy to play. with the added bonus of being able to replay the levels with unlocked characters (Being able to play the game as Darth Vader is worth the price on it's own) or Your own design of characters to unlock everything the game has to offer. The game is really worth a look. It may look like a game catering for the younger generation ( my son loved it). There is seriously enough game play elements to keep all bet the hardest of gamers satisfied. A must for all Star Wars fans and gamer's that want a satisfying gamimng experience with it's tounge firmly planted in it's cheek. Expand
