Good campaign, with metagame and 4-player online co-op giving it high longevity and replayability. Amazing mulitplayer with extras like the Forge map editor. Insane online stat-tracking. My only concern is the small number of multiplayer maps which will be remedied soon with the first of what will certainly be many map pack releases.

A run of the mill shooter inferior to just about any full priced FPS that has come out on the PC over the last 3 years. An extremely average game that while not horrible to play offers nothing of interest to anyone but FPS fans with a spare afternoon. The singleplayer is very short (5-6 hours) and the multiplayer lacks cohesion and excitement.

Best campaign ever in a game (i could care less what others think) best ending ever in a game trilogy, even though its obviously not over and of course the worlds #1 MP. best game ever created.

The best multiplayer game you'll ever play, but the campaign is a little short and unintersting... liked to see more out of the ending. Great game

Boris nailed it. Not bad just boring. No great inovation here just a rehash of H2. I hate the mucky feeling of moving around. It feels like you are moving in slow motion. I just wish that there was a space battle mission where you get to fly longswords/pelicans as you try to take down a covenant capital ship. The graphics are also great and it is good to see in the distance a battle going on. I would have gave this game a 10/10 except the medicore stortline lost me and the ability not to play as the arbiter was also a bummer. It is simply the best FPS I have ever played. Expand

The online multi-player is highly addictive and is very fun, though the 4-player online co-op doesn't work as well as you may want it to. Forge is a neat idea, but won't hold your interest for very long, but the saved films feature is very good. But, the campaign mode is very disappointing, and leaves you hanging at the end.

I saved up for months to buy XBOX 360 for one reason--Halo 3, and boy am I disappointed. The game is just extremely boring. It's seems it was just thrown together to make money. There was really no new characters or weapons, just modified old stuff. If you love Halo like me, then of course you have to beat it, but don't expect much. P.S. What happened to the Halo 1 pistol?? Best part!!

Really fun, I rarely enjoy console games. The multiplayer is about as much fun as I'm going to have with a gamepad/controller. Still, in terms of single player gameplay, it really isn't a glorious achievement in the FPS world. Solid, shiny, pretty, fun, but not really deserving of the massive hype machine that seems to have driven the series since the first title started to take off.

I had this game for a week. My time playing it went like this, Before multi player i did campaign to get some practice. The AI is good, but the story is not. Following the mistake made in Halo 2's story mode, i was hoping for a BIG improvement. I didn't get it. The story lacked any excitement or drama that Halo 1 had. Filled with annoying teenagers, kids and some mature people. The word PWN has not been used so much over chat i swear. The multi player was repetitive and bland, doing the exact same as halo 2 multi player. Basically, this is Halo 2 with polished graphics, too much advertisement for such a thing. But i guess it got them money. Graphics - 7/10, Framey and far too shiny. Gameplay - 6/10, I would rate it higher if it hadn't been done before. Story - 4/10, No dramatic changes, nothing very exciting. Poor. Multi player - 8/10, I wont base this on the 5 million people playing the game. Personally, i think its crap. Expand

Talk about over-hyped and under-delivered. I am giving it a 0 basically because I bought into all of the hype (my fault really), and expected something much more engaging, immersive, and engrossing than I ended up with. The story is trite. The AI is non-existent. The levels are uninspired. The multiplayer may be its only redeeming quality, but even that is so limiting in terms of Talk about over-hyped and under-delivered. Well the graphics were horrid compared to lets say half-life 2 which was released 3 or so years ago, the single player was so bad that I don't even know why they put it in the game, and the multiplayer was average at best, still not as good as battlefield 2142 or any of the unreal tournaments.

The last 2 levels were a joke and left a bad taste in my mouth. And what's with all of you fanboys creaming y'alls pants over the Legendary ending? If it weren't for the addicting and frenetic gameplay and the deep multiplayer, this would be just another shooter. Either way, this series is WAY overrated.

Not surprised to see all the hate by users. Dissing backtracking? Try Metroid Prime 3! Mad at the short campaign mode? Multiplayer is the main draw here! This is a decent single-player console FPS and one of the best multiplayer experiences in gaming. The feature set in Halo 3 is incredible, the graphics are sublime, and the music is epic.

I've played all 3 and this last one is the biggest letdown. Backtracking through levels, a couple of new guns and items, the last level which has no creativity. All this money spent on this and this is what we get as gamers. The Halo developers should have studied the Half-Life 2 franchise to see how a game is suppose to be.

I know it's a bit harsh to rate this game a 0, but to be honest, i got nothing out of it, it's just the same old stuff re-done with new "flashy" graphics... Some say the multiplayer is the saviour of this game, personally i do find it fun, but it gets really boring very quickly. Can you say "overhyped"? There is exactly one reason to play this game: because everyone else is. Having destroyed Halo 2's Xbox Live audience, there's only one place to go. Ask any Halo 2 and 3 player - sure, you got angry at 2 sometimes, but deep down knew you were just mad because you were losing. Not so with #3. A lot of what people complain about it is (surprisingly or not) legitimately the game's fault. The game isn't bad, per se, but for such a big-name game with such a huge budget, you think they could have gotten it together. I guess I was wrong. Go play Call of Duty 4. Expand

Halo 3 is a sequel. If you were expecting a completely new game then you are lacking in intelligence. Halo 3 does exactly what you expect from a sequel, it improves upon the formula and adds new stuff. What makes Halo 3 so good is it's action. No other shooting game does it better in my opinion and I've been playing them for years. Bioshock, The Orange Box and COD4 are all Halo 3 is a sequel. What makes Halo 3 so good is it's action. No other shooting game does it better in my opinion and I've been playing them for years. Bioshock, The Orange Box and COD4 are all excellent games for different reasons but Halo 3 just nails the formula of guns, grenades and melee. The gameplay is action packed and the online play will get your adrenaline pumping like you wouldn't believe. There's nothing like scoring a triple kill and then getting all tense and excited as you desperately try to find that overkill in time, or making a comeback from 20 points behind to take the game by one point. The multiplayer is absolutely phenomenal, it is super exciting and at times even hilarious. However, It can be very frustrating and, at times, very unforgiving but that is no fault of the game, though it is easier to blame it. The campaign is Halo 3's weakest link, it is great and is fantastic in 4 player online co op (if you've got a good internet connection) but it is graphically disappointing. The cutscenes are quite ugly and the second to last level is just awful. The game keeps a solid framerate throughout though, so it is to be commended for that. The story is terrific and the game does a good job of finishing the trilogy, whilst leaving the door open for possible expansion. Also, the music and sound effects are outstanding, the attention to detail is astonishing. The two newest additions are the Forge and Theatre modes and I could go on for hours about how ridiculously awesome they are, they do an absolutely fantastic job of adding more value to this incredible package and make for a refreshing break from all the action. All in all, if you are looking for a social gaming experience, you cannot go wrong with Halo 3 as everything about it has more than one person in mind, if you are looking for an incredible, competetitive online mode then no other game does it better, but if you are looking for a deep and involving single player experience then you would be better off with something like BioShock. 1. It's the addition of the Forge level editor and the saved films that give the game an even longer set of legs, legs that will probably keep you running at full speed until Bungie figures out where, exactly, to go from here.
  2. Halo 3 is the best Xbox 360 game to date. The single-player campaign and storyline are both very strong, but it's Forge and the Saved Films features that will likely go down in history as Bungie's crowning achievements. They've basically taken everything great about the series and improved upon it in every way, then added some amazing new features that we'll be using for years to come.

It's solid gameplay, immense replayability, online functionality and incredible production values will ensure its place in video game history, and it is, without a doubt, a satisfying and fulfilling close to the beloved trilogy[?].
