An entry to the Guitar Hero series focusing on the history of one band is a risky move, but fans of Aerosmith should enjoy this retrospective.

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is enjoyable, and it's pretty impressive as far as fan service goes, but its appeal is going to be fairly limited.

It’s a shame that only a few real hits have found their way into the game.

If you need some news tunes and enjoy Aerosmith, then it may be money well spent, otherwise save up for some licks from your favorite bands on Guitar Hero: World Tour.

As an average Guitar Hero player I did enjoy the more relaxed note streams, easier gameplay, and the substantial ego boost of actually finishing a half-dozen songs on Expert level.

New venues and motion-captured versions of the titular band look great, and the video interviews with its members are a blast for music history buffs.

Crucially, the difficulty has been adjusted: whereas GHIII wanted you to bleed, GHA simply expects that you come ready to rock.

With a lack of downloadable content and a disappointing short set list GH: Aerosmith certainly isn't for everyone.

How much you enjoy Guitar Hero: Aerosmith will be adjusted on how much you enjoy Aerosmith music.

Thankfully, the inclusion of master tracks and a slick menu interface means that this title sounds and plays exactly how it ought to.

If you're a big fan of the series you should most definitely check out this one. If you, however, are the number one groupie of the band, than go grab the bundle with the Aerosmith faceplate for the Les Gibson controller.

A flawed attempt at fixing the problems with Guitar Hero III. While vast improvements have been made to the game's look and engine, a critical mistake was made when Neversoft chose to focus on a single band. The core Guitar Hero gameplay is still there and as fun as ever, but unless you're an avid fan of Aerosmith, you probably won't be happy with constantly playing Aerosmith songs.

Neversoft and RedOctane played it safe by changing little to nothing in the Guitar Hero franchise with Guitar Hero: Aerosmith.

A decent game, though adjust the score depending on how much you like Aerosmith.

It's tough to get excited about Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. It's essentially a re-release of Guitar Hero III with a new song list and some new avatars.

With bonus songs from Perry's solo efforts and a fully animated Steven Tyler swallowing the microphone, the game's target audience is very clear -- and for them, the game's existence is justified.
