one of the best games i have ever played with a heartful story that gets you attached to the characters and excellent gameplay as the previous gears of wars and slight improvement to graphics but you really can't get the graphics much better than them. also it has amazing gameplay mechanics and even further improved multiplayer which gives this game an excellent replay value

Gears of War 3 was a super fun play. It had fantastic graphics, great mechanics, and there's a chainsaw on your gun. My issues with this game only resided in the characters and the storyline. I'm definitely not a big fan of fenix, and the story was too cheesy for me. I couldn't really handle it.

The silly narrative, childish sometimes. the completely stupid succession of events that try to driven the history, the poor characters of personality. Poor art direction some times feels like a cartoon, I was in the mood for good action game but even with all my good will wasn't possible to enjoy that silly game.

The multiplayer has been well supported so far with occasional patches, dlc and in the form of playlists. a playlist has been added which takes away the sawnoff shotgun and makes it a pickup, this is great as a hate that weapon. I had hyped myself up in the days and months prior to it's release, watching the E3 demos and teaser trailers over and over again. I am glad to say that I was not wrong. It exceeded my expectations as to how fun it would be. After the slight disappointment of Gears Of War 2, this a return to form for the series and for Epic Games.
The multiplayer is superb, bringing back a higher movement speed and sense of agility and responsiveness found in Gears 1 but sadly lost in Gears 2. The game modes are satisfactory, but I find myself mainly going for Team Deathmatch over everything else. The new ranking system is good, the weapons are more or less balanced despite people saying the sawed-off is overpowered: there are ways to counteract it.
Beast Mode is also a pretty fun experience, giving an opportunity to play as Locust monsters and crush waves of CoG. Certainly, the selection of characters is excellent but I couldn't help but think they didn't need a time limit or only have 12 waves.
Horde Mode is where I spend most of my time on Gears 3 nowadays. The mode has been completely upgraded from Gears 2. Instead of throwing you on a map with no defences against the Locust, Epic have now given the player the ability to build fortifications such as spikes, sentry turrets, gun turrets, decoys and battle-mechs to counteract the Locust Horde's menagerie of monsters. As a result, I would say the difficulty is ramped up and makes it more of a challenge to complete all 50 waves. However, even after those initial 50 waves have been completed, there are still fortifications to upgrade and achievements to earn that will keep players coming back.
I have deliberately left the story till last. As a Gears of War fan, I like to think that I have a good knowledge of the universe outside of the games. I've read the comics and the novels which cover a significant amount of time between each game. Therefore, I understood most of what was going on in Gears Of War 3's campaign. Between Gears 2 and 3, a lot happened. So much so, that three books were written to cover those events. I find the story amazing; with genuine emotional moments cropping up in between intense cinematic action sequences that makes this seem at times, like a blockbuster movie (especially ONE very emotional moment. Ahem ahem) However, I can see how people who haven't taken such an interest in the novels or comics could find this story confusing. I have a few friends who haven't read the books and asked me "Who the **** is Jace?", "Where the hell did Sam come from?" and "Why are they on a boat?"
Gears Of War 3 is a fantastic game in all respects and is worth it's money in both replay value and quality. A game that I will be playing for years.

The graphics and animation in Gears 3 have been tuned up a bit, and some of the combat has been refined, but it really doesn't offer too much that is new as far as the campaign goes. As for the multiplayer I have still been waiting for the franchise to move into the territory of customizable weapons and even vehicles, but I have to admit that those hopes may have been a little too ambitious. I HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT. It is the worst thing to have EVER touched Gears. It is an obvious attempt to get people who don't have any skill in videogames to continue playing with an odd connection to the female characters because it seems that the vast majority of sawed offs play as girls. it is the single reason i get off gears every time. I don't know how anyone thought a gun where you either sprint up to someone and shot praying that you hit someone then run away till you wait the awkward 20 second reload time to fire it again or hide behind a wall until someone runs by was a good idea. What kind of gun is it better to not aim? The gameplay and controls are flawless and the difficulty of the game is paced wonderfully. The only complaint that I have ab Gears 3 is the final boss battle, where I should have been able to kill the queen, not just the bug she rode on. Great improvements made. The biggest improvement is the online system. The servers are very consistent, the gameplay is fun, the maps are much better than Gears 2's maps. Horde is much improved. The graphics are also much better than previous Gears titles. The story was pretty well done also. Overall, a great conclusion to the trilogy.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was really expecting this game and it not let me down, despite some minor problems. If you take it for a brainless game, just for the fun of the action, you'll enjoy it, otherwise it's quite shallow and do not offer a real challenge. The game it's really short, the storytelling seems rushed and you lose all the sympathy you had to use with Marcus and company. I missed some machine using. The sub part, for example, you should drive it, as cars and maybe even motorcycles to get some action and break the liniarity of the game. In other hand, Graphics are amazing and really beautiful. At least, give you some closure for the trilogy. If you are a fan and like to play multi players online, you must have, otherwise, just rent. In a rainy Sunday you might get to end of this game. Gears has always been one of my favorite game series, if not THE favorite. It offers a fresh slap in the face to the linear "two guys shooting each other in a quasi-modern environment in a war never to be explained, all the while throwing every element of actual war out the window in order to bring out every cliché element in the book" games. The campaign and multiplayer (though, not a stick at gears, but modern multiplayer in general, developers need to do something about camping, honestly, its a cheap pain in the ass) are both enjoyable. The addition of bots for us ForeverAlone people without Xbox Live is a nice plus too.

The weapons are diverse in both styling and usage. There's the iconic Lancer chainsaw rifle, and the deadly but short ranged Sawed-Off Shotgun and even the tricky "Digger", which fires a Bouncing Betty like projectile under enemy cover. The edition of all these elements ensures that no one gun and player ever has a constant advantage. Cover, always being a Gears staple and one of my favorite elements of the game, is still well implemented. If one stands out in the open, you'll be mown down. Most games don't have well implemented cover beyond standing behind a wall, staring at it.

The characters, if not always scholarly in their speech, are relatable and are bound to get a chuckle out of you here and there. And, finally, we now have playable female characters! On that note, they are well implemented, neither of them are whiny or stereotypical female fighter like. It's clear that they are here to kick Locust ass, and they don't need help doing so.

The campaign ends on a satisfying note, if uncertain, and the story itself is laudable, fraught with twists and turns enough to keep it interesting, but not so to the point of it being melodramatic. The new Ribbons and Medals mechanic adds even more playability to any mode you choose, adding a leveling mechanic. Quite simply, the higher level you are, the more characters you get. Getting kills with a weapon will eventually unlock a unique execution for that weapon. The executions are brutal, satisfying, and PERSONAL. Nothing sends more of a message to the enemy than kicking them down and slamming a revved chainsaw into their neck. Leveling never feels like grinding, it's more like playing games, having a hell of a good time and watching your XP bar increase with a grin on your face. The Ribbons are awarded for doing a usually simple in game task, and it provides impetus for players to go beyond their usual comfort zones and try for something amazing to get points. Medals work in a similar manner, though they work by doing something several times over, and award you with unique titles behind their name. A gamertag with the title P3P3 L3 P3W P3W (Highest level "Skunk" metal) is a force to be feared.

There's a wide range of Multiplayer game types that require more than just a good aim to accomplish, they require strategy. There's the tried and true Team Deathmatch, and warzone, as well as Execution (like warzone but every enemy must be oneshotted or executed). But there's also desperate slaughter matches of King of the Hill, nerve wracking games of Capture the Leader and utter Paranoia of Wingman. No two games are the same, every one needs a little bit of a tweak in your strategy.

In summation, there's still a lot I didn't cover, like the rebuilt Horde and the new Beast mode for you to uncover, but overall, Gears is a buy that won't leave you disappointed, no matter how many ill-informed reviews from CoD fanboys there are.

P.S. if you're up for a laugh http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-3?user_review_id=1885242 MW3 currently has a 1.7 user rating. Fine job Activision... Fiiiine Job. *Clap, clap, clap*

This is how third person shooters are meant to play. As for the story of Delta Squad, Gears 3 delivers a surprisingly different tale to what we've come to expect. This is a road movie, as Delta Squad head out on one final journey to make their last stand. It's emotional and enjoyable, and the bleakness is perfectly portrayed. In the end it turns out to be the most coherent and enjoyable chapter in the already fantastically presented narrative. The multiplayer is also stellar. Epic have refined and polished the formula to a crisp sheen. Versus is incredibly well presented and enjoyable, and Horde 2.0 and the new Beast mode are incredibly fun. I've never been one to stick with Gears multiplayer for too long after release, but I can safely say Gears 3's multiplayer is so well realised, that as far as the quintessential Xbox multiplayer goes, it has taken its place alongside Halo. I will be playing this for years to come. In the end, this is the best game in one of the best franchises on consoles, and the best third person shooter there is. You owe it to yourself to play it. The graphics on Gears of War 3 are impressive. The storyline is also as heart moving as could be. Filled with all the characters you have grown to know and love, you watch and see as they go through their final hours. Making it as epic as ever could be. 9/10*

The campaign was okay, I thought 2s was better though. Other than that the new MP maps are solid, new weapons are good and I like how they tightened up gameplay even more than 2. I cant give it a better score though because I feel like Epic Games were too conservative in the development in this game, unwilling to change hardly anything.

Great graphics and art direction. Gameplay is very familiar and I enjoy the learning curve it takes to be good at this game. Only negative is the servers are not so great if you are overseas.

This game is awesome. I play it everyday! Horde mode is addicting and Beast is good, clean fun. Of course, versus is amazing. It also has the best campaign I've ever played.

Gears of War 3 was exactly what I thought it was going to be, a stellar finish to a great trilogy. This third installment included all the things that I thought the second game was missing. To break down the different modes, I will start with the Campaign. The graphics were great, and the implementation of 4 player co-op finally gave a reason for "Baird and Cole". The graphics were great, and the implementation of 4 player co-op finally gave a reason for "Baird and Cole". I love the fact that I could play the entire story mode with all of my friends instead of having to play through 3 times with different buddies. The story was a bit vague and quick and some sections leave you asking "huh?". Overall the story was action packed and fun.

Versus is a bit more fair and polished than GoW2 The weapons give balance from what was previously a gnasher fest. Even though people scream that the sawed off is cheap, it really helps balance a game that was plagued by shotgun abusers. The maps and the added modes like Team Death Match (TDM) help to strengthen the game. The ability to grace your guns with skins, and selected from a ton of characters keep the game interesting.

The bread and butter in my opinion is Horde mode. When playing GoW2's horde mode, I would get bored around wave 30. The new fortifications and boss waves keep the game very interesting. You don't just focus on staying alive and killing, but now saving your money and building up to help you against the horde.

Gears of War 3 is definitely the best out of the trilogy and reeks of polish. The singleplayer was fun and the addition of 4 player coop is awesome. The competitive multiplayer experience is also fun, there is a nice selection of deathmatch/objective modes to please most peoples needs. There have been complaints about the gameplay being the same as the first two, and that is true, Gears of War doesn't need to refine its gameplay experience. It is already a unique third person shooter franchise and I don't think it needs to borrow ideas from COD or any other big titles to be successful. It's not a perfect game but it's a damn good one with plenty of polish. Expand

You can't describe perfection, and that's what this game is to me! Some minor issues with the game, but none that effect gameplay come to mind. Best of the series so far1

The single player campaign is over the top, confusing, and goofy. However, I did not get this game for single player. Excellent game, love the multiplayer and the story. Gears are in a league of their own. Only thing i hate is the fact that when playing arcade mode palyers can come and go but when the host is finished it ends the session. Appart from that 1 thing good game.

We know that Epic Games are good at what they do.
However, I was never a huge fan och Gears of War 1-2 and the third installment doesn't change my opinion of the franchise.
Gears of war 3 is more of the same with emphasis on more. You rarely see this much content in a triple A title now a days with out having to pay for expansions. What's new in Gears 3 is the upgraded Horde mode, Beast

Beast mode lets you play as the locust and it's probably my favorite mode.

I have spent over 40 hours playing the campaign, horde and beast mode.
I'm personally not interested in the player vs player modes but if you are, get ready to spend another 40 hours in there too.

Gears of War 3 is a lot of game for its price.

Best game in the series, hands down. So much content, and I haven't even gotten bored of the game yet! Horde and Beast add in many hours of gameplay. Campaign is very long for a shooter (~12 hours). Multiplayer is a blast. With weekly events, and a weekend playlist that could be anything always makes this game interesting. Keep it up, guys!

From the dumbass Aztec design of the locust cities (that are **** empty and make no sense) to the pants-on-head-retarded worm segment, Gears of war just lacks all consecutiveness. the campaignin #3 was **** useless, a total waste time, but the graphics have improved just because Epic finally discovered the rest of the **** colour palette, and because they got multiplayer to work better, even if it is still an unbalanced mess half the time.
