Galaga Legions DX

Namco Bandai did some really good things with Galaga Legions DX. They maintained the integrity of the original game and added some fun elements, including the ability to freely move anywhere onscreen, to make the experience exciting. I wouldn't choose this over Pac-Man Championship Edition DX, but it's still mindless fun if you need an updated classic arcade shooter.

Galaga Legions DX isn't as perfect as Pac-Man CE DX, but is still a lot of fun and with beautiful visuals.

All in all, this might not be the most revolutionary Galaga to date (that credit of course belongs to the original), but it's a mighty fine diversion worth sinking your teeth into.

An old-school shoot'em up, adapted to current times. This is not a long game, but the real challenge is to beat our own scores over and over.

Galaga Legions DX is a fair game, halfway trough a shooter and an action- puzzle game. Said that it lacks in duration: the game can be completed in very few hours.

Even thought it's a frantic and hypnotic shooter, Galaga Legions DX fails to live up to the brilliance of Pac-man Championship Edition DX. It is not difficult to get through – in fact it is perhaps too easy and definately too short – but the difficulty in posting a good score makes you come back for more.

A useful fine-tuning of an already solid retro remake, that's more than a rival for Geometry Wars and other downloadable shooters.

Galaga fans won't recognize the game, shmup fans will find it too easy.

While the mesmerizing patterns and fast-paced combos provide brief bursts of excitement, Galaga Legions DX lacks the challenge and variety needed to maintain interest beyond a single play-through.

One round of Galaga Legions DX will show you about all it has to offer. It is gorgeous to behold, but there isn't much to sink your teeth into.

We like Namco's idea of remixing their classic arcade games and switching up the rules. But while Pac-Man Championship Edition DX is one of our favorites, Galaga fails to capture the same magic, as what's on offer simply isn't fun enough in the long run.

Galaga Legions DX is an easy and short game. It doesn't do anything better than its predecessor and doesn't bring something new to the table. It's fun for a while, but after an hour you realize this is a dumb and hollow 2D-shooter.
