The presentation is also given a surprising amount of attention, with impressive lighting effects, swift animation, and solid (although far from perfect) level design. Having Jack Black on board to voice Po is a smart move, too.
-
There are certainly worse movie-to-game titles, but this one does a decent job of having some fun and providing a coherent story, along with decent gameplay.
-
Overall this game is a fun experience. It is definitely one of the better games that is tied in with a movie.
-
Kung Fu Panda won't be winning any awards, and it won't be gracing any end-of-year lists, but that's not to say it doesn't deserve carefully measured praise.
-
Whilst the game is certainly not a must-purchase due to its length, it is definitely a must rent for younger and casual gamers.
-
AceGamezThe game may be over before you know it, but for as long as it lasts, it serves up an enjoyable, extremely polished adventure that younger gamers will simply adore.

Xbox World 360 Magazine UKWe don't care what the film's like, this is one of the brightest kiddie romps ever. [Sept 2008, p.73]
-
Official Xbox MagazineWhile the character selection leaves a lot to be desired, the brilliant mix of versus battles, mini-games, and co-op challenges will keep you entertained for hours. [Sept 2008, p.77]

That rare thing: a film tie-in that's not bad. [Sept 2008, p.87]

All major box office movies must be accompanied with a movie tie-in game, and usually that leads to a less than poor gaming experience. Kung Fu Panda actually manages to steer clear of that trend by offering a great and fun action experience. For the seasoned gamer this is on the easy side, but for the intended age group this is a great offering.
-
Kung Fu Panda is not really hard to play, but it is a perfect game for your leisure time. Especially younger gamers will be happy with it.
-
The difficulty is perfect for the younger crowd, but late teens on up won't find much more than a 6-hour romp here.
-
So no, developer Luxoflux didn't reinvent so much as renovate the battered and bruised movie-to-game tie-in.
-
This shallow and repetitive beat-'em-up is fun for a while, but doesn't last much longer than the movie that it's based on.
-
It’s just a shame it’s all over so quickly as a more epic adventure with Po and friends would have been most welcome.
