Superb game, how can anyone rate this low? Gorgeous visuals, massive world, loads to see and do etc etc etc A few technical issues, but otherwise solid.

By far better than Dragon Age 2, and a step itself up from Origins. At first it was full of bugs, But with the latest patch, The bugs are gone. This game takes the best of Origins, and the best of Dragon Age 2, and tells a story that is actually quite interesting. This is easily the game of the year for me. It actually has taken me away from Shadows of Mordor, which I LOVED immensely, but I have had a hard time putting it down, I am over 100+ hours into the game, and I still haven't completed the main story-line (Granted I am a sucker for side-quests)

Whatever you do, DO NOT stay in the hinterlands for long, The game is better if you progress a bit, then do side-quests, then progress the story some more, And do not forsake the Realtime War-Table missions. If you are playing another game, or leaving for a while, pop it in run some missions, you can get good bonuses, and free gold/materials for upgrading. You wont lose a side-quest just because you progress a bit in the game.

Honestly this is probably the greatest RPG I've ever played! I don't really get the naysayers but its just simply wonderful. From the awesome and very fleshed out companions to the beautiful spell effects this game is an absolute masterpiece in my book. Bio ware truly made up for DA2.

About 20 hours in, and I'm enjoying this game so much I'm losing sleep over it! The story immediately pulled me in, though I had to laugh when I played over an hour just to see the title screen finally show up. (I like to do side quests and explore in my RPGs).

It's graphically quite beautiful, and the exploration plus both forms of combat really open the game up. I like using both combat systems, and while the level designs were lacking on DA:2, I was one of the people that loved that game (so you know where I'm coming from), mostly because the combat for playing a rogue was much improved upon Origins' terrible AI movement.

I was actually surprised by how quickly the story and motivations pulled me into this game. I shouldn't have been; BioWare is fantastic when it comes to characterization and story. Regardless, this game achieves one of those very hard things to do that so many other games I play fail at: it makes me forget I'm playing a game. I'm so absorbed in every aspect of it. It's completely engrossing, and transports me into the world of Thedas. This is, quite frankly, an RPG after my own heart. It's easily the best installment in the Dragon Age franchise, and one I'm far more likely to replay for that very same reason.

If you are an RPG fan, you owe it to yourself to give this game a real shot. I honestly can't believe why there are so many negative user reviews. People are too angry and bitter and their venom shows. 0/10? Really? That is not an honest assessment.

Inquisition easily makes it into my top three RPG video games of all time, and for that reason I'm confident to give it 10/10. Not to 'balance the negative reviews', and not to say that any game is ever truly perfect (there's always room for improvement), but because it delivers in spades everything I love about RPG games and rich storytelling.

Negate the hate! Do what you love.

Ok, so I had to make an account to fix this BS. This isn't a 10/10 game, but you guys don't seem to understand how to rate a game. The bad: It was clearly designed for a better console than the 360. Some far away objects are straight up pixelated. The textures are a little sluggish to load, and the load screens...well, it's not uncommon to wait 2 or 3 minutes.
Essentially,I'm such a fan that I went back to play DA2. Not as good, but it should give you an idea of how impactful this game was.

I am reading some of these reviews with my mouth hanging open because I just cannot fathom a gamer that would not enjoy this game fully and wholeheartedly. So this will be more a review rebutting the things that have been used against the game to justify a bad rating.

Graphics - So, I am definitely not going to delude myself or anyone else that this port does not have graphic and audio issues, because it does, sometimes a lot and sometimes causing unexpected laughs ( why your hair so shiny!? ). But you know what? That's okay because I am just happy that I get to venture back to Thedas without needing a brand new console if I do not want one. Plus there will be a point of awesomeness that will be felt when I do finally get a next gen console and go back through DA:I and see all the differences. In my mind that's awesome and gives me one more reason to play through more than once.

Combat/Potions - Does exactly what it tries to do. Make a functioning and engaging hybrid of DA:O and DA:II combat systems. Anyone who has an issue with this is apparently not playing the game right. I agree to some extent that the new potion system has somethings to be desired, but it is no way it is as broken and a pain in the butt that some describe. It makes the game more challenging.Cause come on lets be honest with ourselves, how many of us only killed the Archdemon because we made like 400 Potions before going into combat, talk about potion spamming. I keep seeing people saying 8 Max Health Potions but with a simple Perk you can get up to 12 ( possibly higher as perhaps there is an agent out there to modify it higher ) plus you have these crazy things call regeneration potions and the new guard and barrier mechanics. Come on people, adapt! There is a crazy amount of strategy to the combat and potion systems, find it and use it. You DO NOT have to backtrack and teleport back as much as some people want you to think, if you are actually using strategy. I play on hard and have very rarely died or needed to teleport back from and area to replenish. The developers even planned to minimize this issue by force by adding replenishment crates (depending on area and difficulty) to longer quests/story missions. You have to also think about how to tackle a new area so this is even further minimized. Combat is fluid, and everything has it's purpose. Is it more the MMO style, with Tank, DPS etc. Yes but it works well and I love it. Plus with Vulnerabilities of enemies it really encourages you to use more of your party members as a whole and not just one set. ( You'll need different element mages for Dragons especially ). The Tactical Camera can be admittedly wonky at times but nothing so terrible. The combat system really makes it easy and encourages you to use every asset you have. Until this game I never bothered with Tonics or Grenades. As a whole it is well done. Now with all that said, there is a part of combat that I am furious they "dumbed down" and that is the Tactics for your party. Gone are the highly customizable action slots, the do this, if this happens slots. Why Bioware Why!? I understand having this easy AI options as an option for difficultly but to strip it out completely!? And I understand that leaving it out encourages players to utilize the tactical camera but still why can't we have it all and make playing the game as customizable as our Dragon Keep Stories? Thank the Maker that when it is needed at least this simplified AI is competent!

Attributes/Talent Trees - Yes, you cannot directly assign attribute points but this does not take much away from anything in my opinion, it causes less tedious leveling up. You will need to view the trees as what they are, ways to play a class. This system will not work with a couple Points spent in this tree and a couple in this in one etc. The trees are designed for you to unlock it entirely for the best results with playing like the tree suggests which is why abilities will have increases to relavant attributes. Now not to say there aren't exceptions. Plus the trees are relatively short meaning there will be enough points to usually have two trees plus your specialization. Also with the comeback of "Andraste's Grace" from DA:II in the form of once equip necklaces you will be able to change up your play style within your class whenever you want!

Crafting - I have a lot to say about the system but due to the character limit of the review I will boil it down to one word : Perfect.

Companions - I guess this is the area that personal preferences will be the most profound. I personally found all of the companions intriguing and well thought out. I struggled to form my "base group" because I wanted them all.

So to all who complained about this game to some extent, I get some of what you say but some other things you say make you sound like whiny brats. Evolve your gameplay to match the evolution of the game. So all in all a solid and insanely fun 9/10.

I quite enjoy that they have a whole other story while keeping in line with the previous stories of the previous games. That way we aren't playing the same game over and over. I.E (HALO!) The only thing that I didn't like was that it is buggy and glitchy, but there is so much in the game that you have to expect it. Also, the graphics aren't next gen, but i'm on the 360 so i'm not complaining.

In terms of flaws, they are few and far between. The ending feels kind of rushed, the first area you visit (the Hinterlands) is pretty boring, and the Xbox 360 version has quite a lot of texture pop-in and audio bugs. However, the game plays smoothly, and I never got major crashes or lag.
In conclusion, BUY THIS GAME. If you can, get it on a next-gen console or on a good PC, but it's not game-breakingly bad on the PS3 or 360.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There were many improvements in this game as well as things that could be worked on in the future but other than that I thought they added some very interesting choices that were very different from the previous games. I liked that there were more opportunities to explore the world and there weren't a lot of boundaries which I both liked and disliked. I liked it because you could jump up mountains and climb up and ladders and such. I disliked it because sometimes you would get stuck in a tricky spot to get out of and then you would have to load the game again and have to start over from there.

It was an interesting choice for them to add horses to the game and it also made it easier to explore the gigantic world. There were also a lot of mini quests and objects to collect to help with the inquisition that made it longer to complete the game which was different compared to the previous games in which it didn't take you too long to complete a mission as long as you kept eyes open during your quest and made such to pick certain things up and compete certain things at a certain time. It was the same way in inquisition but it just took a bit longer in my opinion.

Another thing I found interesting was how they did the companions. There were companions that fought along side with you and then there were three companions that did other stuff for the inquisition. Such as Leliana was the spymaster, Josephine was the ambassador, and Cullen was the commander of the army. You could also develop a romantic relationship with them; at least with Josephine and Cullen.

There were things I liked and disliked about how they did the romance with the companions. I liked how they gave you more options as to how to gain romance status with another companions but I thought it was confusing as to how you got it. Such as in the first game, it was all in the points, in the second game you had the choice to have two different types of romances (friendship or rivalry), while in this game there wasn't any clear rules except the companion approves or disapproves. It was also interesting that they had more limitations as to who could romance who. For example certain characters only preferred a certain sex or class. I understood why they did it that way but it made the romance options very limited. I was disappointed that Varric wasn't a romance option because I wanted to created a dwarf and have a romance with him. I was kind of hoping that this would be the first game in which you could romance a dwarf.

Another criticism about this game was that it was a little glitchy. Sometimes the graphics would be off or the game would get stuck or lag. I've read other reviews and some said that it might be due the fact that this is the Xbox 360 version and not the Xbox One.

Overall, I thought the game was very unique compared to the previous games and it showed promise.

While gamers might be better off playing it on Xbox One or PS4, the 360 version is in no way broken. It's still a perfectly viable way of experiencing the latest chapter in the Dragon Age series. Just know there are some extra issues that rear their ugly heads from time to time.

Bioware has crafted a massive experience. It is bursting at the seams with content. The game is comprised of multiple wide-open areas to explore. Each act as their own sandbox world with a unique theme. When exploring them it is hard to not stumble upon a new objective at every turn. The game will keep you hooked for hours if you truly want to see everything. The great thing about all of this side-content is that it feels meaningful enough to tie-in with the your quest of growing the Inquisition and shaping the game's world.

No matter what you do in the game it all goes back the inquisition somehow. Whether you are establishing your presence in a new area or simply growing your influence with the people of Thedas, every action feels meaningful and significant to your overall goal. That's an impressive feat. The game also does a lot to make you feel like you are actually managing a powerful and influential force. The new "war table" missions have you interacting with various individuals, problems, and factions all around Thedas. How you choose to deal with these situations actually feels like you are impacting the world in the process. It ends up feeling better to choose the solution you feel is the best, instead of just choosing the one that is the fastest (the war table missions act on timers).

As far as the story goes, it's solidly written and features some meaningful choices to make, but ultimately parts of it get lost among all of the content. You'll spend so many hours exploring worlds and knocking off quests from your ever growing to do list that you'll for get parts of the game's core conflict. Especially since so much of the villains main goal is tied into some deep and slightly confusing lore that can get hard to put together among all of the action. Still, the writing is solid and it has a lot of great moments.

While Bioware doesn't deliver as strongly in the story department as their previous offerings, the character interactions are as strong as ever. You truly feel like you are building real relationships with your companions, each of whom has a unique personality. It took me a while to like some of these characters, but before long I found myself thinking of them as real friends. The romance element of the series often makes it feel like you are actually romancing someone. You still have the wham, bam, thank you mam characters who are just a little to easy to bed, but there is some genuine romance here like back in the first Dragon Age.

The combat does a great job of combining the two styles from the previous Dragon Age games. The tactical style of Origins and the more directly involving nature of 2 are combined here to create an experience that keeps you right in the center of the action while allowing for plenty of strategic freedom. Some light issues with camera and stuff make using the game's tactic's mode a pain at times, but overall it's freedom is satisfying. You can also create any kind of character you want. Various crafting options allow you to take the gear you want into combat. The game also allows for options that simplify the experience like auto-leveling that make it easier for those who just don't want to dive into the game's deeper systems and mechanics. No matter which way you choose to play the experience is still satisfying.

In a first for the series there is also multiplayer. It's a cooperative dungeon-crawling experience. There's really not too much else to say about it. It has no ties to the main-quest like ME 3's did, so no worries there. It's just a mode that's there if you need it. Bioware has expanded upon it in interesting ways, but I personally didn't find it interesting enough to keep me coming back. There's nothing wrong with it though.

Bioware delivers a huge experience. While the story might not be as strong as their other offerings, the amount of gameplay they have to offer here has rarely been stronger. If you can forgive some technical issues and dated graphics the 360 is still a fine way to experience it. It's a wholly satisfying package that can keep you hooked for hours. With satisfying character interactions, a large amount of enjoyable content, and plenty of reasons to keep coming back it's an RPG worth playing. Especially for fans of the series. What it does it does mostly well. It also sets up the series for some great things to come.

I give the game an 8.5/10.

Dragon Age Inquisition is a vast game, I just spent the last 15 hours running around the Hinterlands and can attest to the sheer size of the maps. Overall the outdoor areas look good (better than DA2) and the graphics come alive when you enter a dungeon that loads up independent of the outside world. The story has sucked me right in and the game play is great.

So here is the bad... random graphic pop-ins... some random sounds sync issues... and no manual for a game that has a bit of a learning curve (only an online manual).

With that said, if you can get past the IMO minor issues this will be one of the best RPG's that you have ever played. I take issue with those who score the game low singularly on graphics as the XBOX 360 is a last gen console but none the less the graphics are much better than DA2 in which Dragon Age Inquisition is more comparable to rather than the small and over uses areas in DA2.

If you have played the older DA games then this is a must buy!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Bioware rightfully made the best fantasy game only beat by Skyrim. The real draw of this game is Character customization, choices, and discovery. I always love creating a female character and this game doesn't disappoint in that respect unlike Fallout 4 for example. Inquisition still has the best dialogue system and the most decisions out of modern games. So the only competition in that respect is between well, previous Bioware titles and Telltale Games. However, most choices don't have a big enough impact. No matter who you choose, Templars or Mages, you'll still have to defend Haven from the forgettable villain. I understand that part is critical to the story but Bioware has given much more weight to choices in the Mass Effect series
. But Skyhold really is a big improvement over the Normandy. The world is plenty big and the highlights visually are the houses in the Emerald Graves, the Eleven temple in the end, and the sand dunes of the Western Approach(beat Elder Scrolls to the punch). Due to the leveling and weapon damage system, enemies had to have large health bars to make the former mechanics work. There is no point in getting a better weapon if the Red Templars succumb to one or two hits. This makes encounters long and less fun. Dragons take so long to kill.
Only at the end does the story get intriguing. This is mostly thanks to Morigan(who I kept thinking was the villain due to the reveal trailer) and the Elvin lore.Since that I was eager to make progress in the game, I skipped most of the cutscenes, dialogue, and books;something I usually don't do.It ended up cutting my playthrough in half(about 50 hours instead of the average 100+)
In a world where Gods and magic exist, religion stills gets thing wrong. Something I only realized towards the end. Not that they were morally wrong(the chantry is clearly the old christian church and a lot of it draws inspiration from the real world) but that it's not certain who these gods were as Mythal turns out not to be an Elvin god but Morigan's Immortal human mother. And there isn't proof of the maker or the Old Gods existence. The only interesting part of Coryriphius (spelled wrong) was when he mentions that the thrones in the heavens were empty. That mystery definitely will be explained in future games.
The end seems to point towards a Grey Warden civil war being a plot point for DAV. It really sucks that EA most likely took the real ending and released it as the Trespasser DLC only for current-gen. That will probably stop me from playing it as I played it on the 360 and will likely get a PS4.
So the near future for Bioware is Andromeda. Something that is taking far too long to make. Is it going through development hell? Almost. Bioware is trying to make a far more ambitious game than Mass Effect 3. But here's the problem. This is in terms of content, not substance. Clearly the scale of this game is whats being built upon. And in my opinion thats a bad thing. Inquisition would have been significantly better in terms of story, pacing, and level design if Bioware didn't try to compete with the sheer size of Skyrim. Either way, I'm almost certain that Andromeda will be a great game:)

It took me a while to decide if I would get this game for my 360 because of the bad user reviews that I've read.
Some of those were pretty horrific, stating that graphics were terrible and the game being riddled by bugs and such.
They really had me doubting. And I'm glad that I did not listen. I'm thinking they tried to play it on an old Pentium 2 computer or something like that.

Because I am playing this on my 360, and yes the game is not perfect, but it still is Awesome with a capital A!
Beautiful surroundings, awesome storytelling, sweet gameplay and yes a few little bugs.

But still a solid 8 from me so far and enjoying every bit of it.
Bioware has learned from part two and made up for it bigtime!
    They really delivered.
Get it, try it, love it.

This game started out horribly, poor story line and tons of glitches. However, once you progress in the game (and download the patches) it is actually fantastic. I'm glad I stuck with it because the first two hours made me want to throw it in the trash.

The romances and friendship sidequests are also just as amazing. Bioware have managed to get the perfect balance between action and character development. The party banter - where characters (which you have chosen) in your questing party make casual chitchat between eachother - is one of my favourite little elements in the Dragon Age games, and in this one has expanded on that beautifully.

    GRAPHICS
The scenery is so bright and luxurious, with whole ranges of different landscapes from desert to oasis to forest to marsh to glacier and even the beautiful Cal Royeaux. Enough to compete with skyrim's landscapes. The only complaint about graphics is that the hair was almost TOO shiny, and would occasionally look somewhat glitchy with the character's ears or armour. (But this could be down to the gamer's own ability to create - as my later created characters were less so) I imagine this may also improve with patches.

    STORYLINE
The Inquistor's Path (the main story line) is cleverly slowed by the need for 'power'. This means that the inquistor has to earn power by doing side quests, closing rifts and earning trust, in order to continue the main storyline. However, I still felt that in my first playtrough the main storyline felt too short. And that they only used the power tactic in order to extend gameplay time. I enjoyed the new combat thoroughly, as ordinarily I've found playing as a ranged character, whether that be an archer or a mage quite frustrating or boring. However, because of the new imaginative 'tactics' mode, being a ranged character gave more room for tactical gameplay. A beautiful game, I only wanted more of it! But you can't pause cutscenes.... that's BS.

The game feels like playing a MMOG by yourself in that it is full of cumbersome fetch quests and the game isn't really difficult at all either, but there's a lot to do and while the storyline isn't as good as the first, it is somewhat engaging and full of some very unique sequences. The online multiplayer part isn't great so if you're think of getting it for that I would say not to, but as a single player RPG, I thought it was very enjoyable. Expand

After spending over 200 hours with this game I want to give it a 10, but sadly I cannot, because for every step forward that BioWare took with this game they took one or two steps back.

The cutscenes are a ugly mess due to pop-in. BioWare was obviously focusing more on new generation consoles, but considering that the pricing for the 360/PS3 versions is the same I feel that they should have put the same effort into all versions.

The main story is wonderful, even brought tears to my eyes a couple of times, however it felt very short, and somewhat disconnected from the rest of the game. Side quests and exploration make up the bulk of this game, and while a handful of the side quests are very enjoyable, the majority of them amount to boring fetch quests, and item collecting which is a bit disappointing.

The world itself is gorgeous, and looks surprisingly lovely even on 360, and I enjoyed visiting the various areas during my first playthrough, but unfortunately the fact that each area is filled with pretty much the same boring side quests kind of killed my desire for exploration or replay. I think exploration would have been a lot more fun if BioWare would have populated more of these areas with characters I was familiar with instead of random NPCs. For example Isabella would have fit in perfectly on the Storm Coast, Merrill could have been hanging with the elves in the Exalted Plains, Justice could have been someone we were forced to battle if we sided with the Templars, and Fenris could have been the one we had to fight if we sided with the mages. Maybe it's just me, but I really feel that BioWare dropped the ball a little in this area, I mean at the very least they could have included Sandal. The absence of Sandal and Bodahn was pretty disappointing actually.

Bugs... this game is so buggy, and although the patch has fixed a few things I was still getting tons of sound bugs and freezing even after the patch. Hopefully BioWare will fix this in future patches.

Some of the new Characters are amazing. Iron Bull, Cole, Solas, Cass, and Dorian are this games saving grace, however I could have lived without Viv, Sera, and Leliana who I found a bit off putting. I have never been a big fan of Leliana, but in this game she has become rather cold and it really doesn't suit her at all.

Combat is clunky, and takes a very long time to master. It's a messy combination of what we got in DAO and DA2, it does get easier after a while, but it never really feels right. The only battles that I truly enjoyed were the Dragon fights, those were outstanding.

Skyhold was a nice touch, much nicer than a campsite of mansion, but many of the rooms and areas proved to be wasted space. My bedroom could have used a dressing room where you could change your appearance and the lack of any storage chest in the game made inventory management a pain.

Crafting is really fun, but the inventory interface made the process a lot more time consuming than it needed to be.

Loading times are outrageously long on 360, and there are a lot of loading screens.

    Music is very nice.

So bottom line, I had a lot of fun with DAI, and I really wanted to give it a 10, because I honestly did enjoy my first playthrough a lot. Unfortunately, the second playthrough stopped being fun halfway through, because I couldn't bring myself to replay most of the areas. I rushed through my second playthrough and discovered that skipping half of the games content didn't change a single thing in the end, and that was kinda disappointing.
