Oct 29, 2012You get a straight port of Doom and Doom II, a nicely polished up HD version of Doom 3, and a chance to send a whole lot of monsters to hell. It's Doom. Marine, grab the biggest freakin' gun you can find and follow me.
-
Oct 28, 2012Doom 3 still manages to give us some great emotions, but it didn't age too well and the always present flashlight just worsens the general feeling.
-
Oct 23, 2012An interesting remake of the classic shooter with added content and remodeled graphics.
-
Oct 22, 2012Doom 3 has aged fantastically well. Provided you haven't already played the games in this collection, BFG Edition is also a solid value.
-
Nov 26, 2012An homage to the well-known and groundbreaking shooter franchise. The excellent lighting, the atmosphere and the great use of sound are, like in the old days, top-notch. The other parts of the game have all been improved by other games by now. Doom 3 is an aged game, but still an awesome one.
-
Oct 25, 2012Doom 3: BFG Edition is still an enjoyable romp through armies of hellspawn, and if you've yet to play the Doom series, there's a lot to like here. Just be prepared for plenty of repetitive strafing and hours of fragging ugly demon ass. This is quite clearly the devil's work.
-
Oct 25, 2012The star of this show is the new Lost Mission expansion for Doom 3. You'll tear through its mild terrors and pedestrian repair and retrieval errands in under three hours, but the final 45-minute trek through a bloody, lava-strewn outpost in hell is the prettiest and most entertaining part of the package. It's not enough to make the BFG Edition feel like a true bargain.
-
Oct 24, 2012Ultimately, this Doom 3 redux reveals a game that conjures the same tricks as its predecessors, but without the humor or flair.
-
Oct 22, 2012The BFG Edition is the best you're going to do right now if you want to buy a new copy of a shooter that, for better or worse, ranks among the most hyped video game releases of all time.
-
Oct 22, 2012Eight years have passed since the original Doom 3 debuted in the world of high-end PC gaming. Meanwhile, FPS have evolved so much that this glorious title shows all the time that has passed.
-
Oct 22, 2012id Software's take on hell might be a little two-dimensional, but if you don't have the patience for the likes of Dead Space, this should scratch your diabolical itch.
-
Oct 19, 2012Doom 3 has flaws that have only become more obvious with time, and tweaking a few gameplay mechanics isn't enough to rectify them.
-
Oct 19, 2012Doom 3 is an old game, and making the graphics high definition can't hide that simple fact. It just doesn't feel fresh and not even the first two Doom games thrown in as a bonus can change that simple fact.
-
Oct 19, 2012For an eight year old game, this action classic has aged well. But nonetheless this seemingly complete package is disappointing, mainly because id decided to improve most of its content to the worse.
-
Oct 30, 2012Doom 3 BFG Edition is an expensive game that won't easily find buyers. Admittedly, the pack proposes a lot of stuff such as Doom 3, Resurrection of Evil, The Lost Mission, Doom et Doom II. However, the "enhanced" part is not as good as it should be. The original game and its expansions did get really old despite their new support for 3D and the introduction of a checkpoint save system that won't revolutionize the gameplay.
-
Oct 25, 2012If you need a fix of some classic run-and-gun action, both of the original Dooms are available for pretty cheap, $15 together (a fiver for the original, tenner for the sequel). If you still want the third, this will do, but you'd be better off buying an original Xbox copy. These three games for forty bucks? No frills or "making of" videos, no concept art or anything behind the scenes? For a poop-ton of extras I could see a full release, but this simply reeks of the combination of "let's fix minor prior mistakes", like the flashlight with a weapon and some other lighting bits, and cashing in on a 20th anniversary, minus any… you know, history. Wait for the price for this to drop, or just save your cash.
-
Oct 19, 2012It's a game that can startle you, for sure, but one that more often bores, the gunplay a low thrumming drone rather than a high-pitched screech of rage.
