  1. I loved the small hidden references throughout the title that made be just laugh to myself or in one case tell by friends about.

The wait to live as a dragon has been worth.
  3. Strong narrative and open-ended design are the highlights of this fantasy experience. Divinity II: Ego Draconis will likely be overlooked by many due to the timing of its release, but it offers a genuinely engrossing world for RPG buffs to wallow in.
  4. Divinity is a game that really gives back what you put in but if all you have is a few hours spare, it will slap you in the face and tell you to return to your hussy, Modern Warfare 2, before telling you it didn't know what it was doing with you anyway and that all its friends had been telling it you were no good.
  5. The inability to roast anything on two legs from an overpowering distance away aside, Divinity 2 is a solid RPG if you are looking for a nice real-time romp though a fleshed out fantasy world.
  6. Divinity 2 is a pleasant surprise also in Xbox 360. Is a solid RPG with a funny gameplay and a nice and genuine proposal.
  7. It may not be the most original RPG game on the market or attempt to add a curve ball into the future of the RPG market but at the end of the day, it's competent on most levels.
  8. The strongest aspects of Divinity II are the excellent story, so long as you are willing to dig it out, and the incredibly open-ended character skills customization. While this game certainly has its flaws, the pros far outweigh the cons, and it is a game that cannot be sipped but must be gulped or possibly even quaffed!

Divinity II genuinely surprised me; loathe as I am to admit it, I may have entertained the slightest of preconceived notions about the quality of the game, but Divinity II totally shattered them. It may not be ready to take on BioWare's finest, but if you're feeling an RPG (or dragon-riding) jones, you could come up with helluva worse ways to spend your coin.

The pacing is poor and it's a technical wreck. [Feb 2010, p.82]
  11. From a casual gamer's view, I really wanted to like this game more then I did but I found it difficult to hold my attention to it. That being said, fans of the series may have a little more patience for it then I did but I just can't help but think but nothing can hide the inventible issues one may come across.
  12. Nothing game-breaking, but there's so many oddities, annoyances and moments of utter frustration that keep this game from being as great as it could have been. Nevertheless, there's plenty here to entertain, and it's not every day that a game can stand up against Bioware and not be utterly crushed.

Divinity II: Ego Draconis is not going to change the genre with its new elements, but it is worth checking out if you really are a fan of the genre.
  14. For adventurous players willing to remain undeterred by warts and wrong turns, Divinity II is something quite special—an RPG with a flavor all its own, and one not to be missed.
  15. After a while, it all turns into a dull routine, with precious little replay value. For an RPG, this is not good.
  16. Divinity II is the kind of game that falls neatly into the category of "guilty pleasure" for me. It's an RPG that doesn't really break new ground, but plays well enough and provides a challenge.
  17. If you can put up with its flaws and want to lose yourself playing a game for hours then this is for you but if your the kind of person who gets annoyed easily and who wants a truly immersive RPG then stay well away.

Yes, it's pretty rough around the edges and yes, it can be frustrating to interface with. What it is, however, is a very good story with an engaging combat engine, lots of content and a good bias towards action.
  19. Divinity II isn't without its charms, but weak game design sullies the thrill of digging into the many secrets of its outstanding world.

Diluted by hours of confusing side quests and repetitive battles, these original moments don't shine as brightly as they should. [Mar 2010, p.78]
  21. Divine 2 is quite a disappointing RPG, there is no real feel of progression for your character and the presentation is quite poor. RPG fans may like it, but there are better games out there.
  22. The story is compelling and well told, and there's certainly enough flow to put it in the category of "just ten more minutes" games - but you'll need a lot of patience to get the most out of Ego Draconis.

Divinity II aspires to be so much, but unfortunately its shortcomings overshadow what positive points this game has.

    Grab a shovel. [Feb 2010, p.91]
  25. There is plenty to do in Divinity II, and if you don't mind putting up with the poor visuals or combat, there are plenty of side-quests to take on to extend your experience.
  26. Something that could have otherwise been a surprise hit ends up beings a problematic mess.
  27. Divinity II: Ego Draconis left us with a bitter taste: while being a quite good PC game, the console porting leaves much to desire. The charm of being able to transform into a dragon and the nice plot aren't enough to save the game, undermined by a shoddy technical side and a frustrating gameplay.

    A dreadful port. [Issue#54, p.92]

It promises you the world, but never delivers, which is a shame, because, with some polish and some elbow grease, it could've been a spectacular RPG on the order of a BioWare classic. As is, though, I simply cannot recommend it.
  30. All in all, if you have the time, patience, and the will to endure the technical issues, you may find the bits of this game that makes it unique from games like it. Divinity II isn't going to set the world on fire, no matter how many dragons you can transform into, but it is a worthy look if you enjoy quest oriented RPGs.

Creative, but a long way from divine. [Feb 2010, p.102]

Divinity 2 proves to be a lacklustre by-the-numbers fantasy title marred by a host of technical hiccups on the Xbox 360.

I can’t recommend the Xbox 360 version of this product to anyone. The occasionally glitchiness of the PC version was much more pronounced on the console, particularly when it came to enemies getting stuck in the environment.
  34. Divinity 2 isn't a bad game solely because of its throwaway writing and the unfortunate game engine, but because it suffuses every design with hate for the player.
  35. I can only recommend this title to the most patience of the hardcore and even then only after there has been a patch to fix lingering technical issues.
  36. It's slow to get moving, it's nothing like what a console gamer is expecting in an action game or a “normal” RPG, and with the noticeable graphical problems it feels half-way done. It's a real shame, because it's a fun twist on the “hero vs. dragon” story with some neat ideas that just don't make it to fruition.
  37. 40
Divinity II: Ego Draconis is an enjoyable and nice game when you play it on the PC. However, the Xbox 360 port of this game turned out so poorly, that playing as a dragon is the only thing that can make you smile a little bit.

Good graphics, sound and voice acting, sufficient depth. From reading reviews, I believe it must have been patched- I am 4 hours into it and have not experienced any glitches. This is the game to fill the gap until Skyrim comes out. Seems more like a Bioware or Bethesda release. Bravo Atlus! Keep it up- you could be a contender! Full Review »
