May 29, 2012It is great to see more games of this quality appearing on download services such as Xbox Live Arcade, as it shows that those platforms are viable for bigger and better games. Deep Black Episode 1 may miss step in a couple of places and have an extremely abrupt ending, but it is a competent shooter that is defiantly worth a look, if you enjoy the genre. Just don't expect anything ground breaking in terms of story.

Apr 27, 2012Deep Black: Episode One is an interesting game. It doesn't do anything outstanding, nor does it do anything offensive. If you like third-person shooters, you will probably find some enjoyment here. I won't say it is really worth the price tag, but if you see it on sale for $10, I definitely recommend picking it up. The core game is a decent length, and the mechanics work. I actually really enjoyed the underwater segments. If you have a hankering for some underwater cover shooting, then Deep Black is easily worth checking out.

Games Master UKJun 25, 2012It can be frustratingly hard too: slog. [Aug 2012, p.77]

May 17, 2012I can think of so many other things I'd rather be doing than playing Deep Black: Episode 1, things such as having brain surgery, or for instance, going to jail. Both these options are more enjoyable and they'll save you Microsoft Points, or you could do the logical choice and just not buy it.

Official Xbox Magazine UKJun 20, 2012It's a waste of some fairly pleasant graphics. [July 2012, p.105]

May 8, 2012The cheapest of leveldesigns, an impact detection from hell, a meaningless underwater gimmick, an online mode bordering on being defective, a demented storyline – badly told too. It´s just the recycling of some leftovers and a waste of your time.

Apr 26, 2012It's a joyless, grace-free slog dominated by repetitive stop-and-pop shootouts, lifeless linear environments, and inconsistent weapon physics, not to mention full-stop gameplay pauses during certain actions (like detonating a robot with an EMP grenade), obnoxiously tacky dialogue, missed audio cues, and overwrought enemy death screams that replay incessantly.
