Death Tank is one of my favourite retro game remakes in quite some time and you would do well to pick it up. The price is slightly steep considering the lack of single player content, but you do get a polished and incredibly fun multiplayer experience which deserves to be played.
-
One of the most enjoyable experiences I have had on Microsoft’s Live service. Games are usually full of accidental hilarity punctuated with the odd showcase of raw skill.
-
It’s fantastic fun for a same-screen multiplayer game, and could foster the kind of trash talk we like our games like that to elicit.
-
Forget Worms and all the rest, when it comes to parabola-judging multiplayer mayhem this is the best.
-
A fun title that epitomises XBLA's theme - quick arcade action for minimal outlay.
-
There’s not a ton of depth in the package, and the $15 price tag seems steep, but frantically blowing away opponents is addictive enough to elicit numerous return trips to the mountains for more carnage.
-
Death Tank is a fun little game that's best experienced with a bunch of friends, because blowing them up is always a good time.
-
X-ONE Magazine UKAhh, good times. [Issue#39]
-
The biggest knock against Death Tank is the price. As one of the more expensive titles on the Xbox Live Arcade service, it provides less than half of the gameplay of R-Type Dimensions.
-
At $15, Death Tank is ludicrously overpriced. [Feb 2009, p.85]
-
Death Tank offers an exciting twist on tactical action, but its price tag will leave you feeling robbed.
-
Death Tank is a well made game but does not offer any mind blowing features. At the current overpriced price point, Death Tank is tough to recommend.
-
Death Tank belongs to a genre not so popular and common. Even if it is enjoyable and it has simple mechanics, the price is too much onerous. You can find, on the marketplace, a masterpiece of the category (Worms) for many dollars less.
-
Xbox World 360 Magazine UKAt 800 points this would be essential - but the extra three quid is a no-no. [May 2009, p.105]
-
games(TM)There's no question that Death Tank has the potential to be a lot of fun. It's just a pity Worms has already done it better and for a third of the cost. [May 2009, p.131]
-
There’s a lot of fun to be had here against human players but the lack of single player variety is a real weak point – particularly during those inevitable moments when very few or no online games are available.
-
The game’s soul that leaves plenty to be desired. The weapons are too run of the mill and the structure of both the single and multiplayer portions is unimaginative.
-
When you consider that a fully fledged version of Battlefield 1943 will cost exactly the same as this when it releases later on in the year, Death Tank feels even more like it’s royally taking the mirth.
-
Death Tank is essentially a mad version of Worms, but there is a reason why games of this nature tend to be turn based, the action is so frantic that it is down to complete luck whether you survive rather than skill.
