Jan 14, 2011Case Zero doesn't add much to the Dead Rising 2 experience, but it's cheap and offers lots of fun and replayability.
-
Jan 1, 2011As a Dead Rising fan I appreciate the basics of exploring and messing around with different weapons and just having fun. And while the conclusion isn't really satisfying the enjoyment getting there lets me give Case West a recommendation.
-
Dec 28, 2010Dead Rising 2: Case West is great. It runs well, bends what you'd expect from a Dead Rising game, and offers a fun co-op experience for you and a pal.
-
Jan 25, 2011The game is fun while it lasts, but it is quite short, even for a downloadable title. No real reason to re-play.
-
Jan 4, 2011Case West remains an interesting add-on every fan of the franchise needs to own. I do have an issue with the fact that the price point has been doubled compared to Case Zero.
-
Xbox World 360 Magazine UKMar 1, 2011Excellent value standalone game - best played by Dead Rising fans (new and old) in co-op. [Apr 2011, p.121]
-
Jan 28, 2011You can't get enough of zombie-smashing and this expansion is well worth your money.
-
Jan 24, 2011Playing this short and sweet game makes you wonder whether they couldn't construct the next title in such a way so that co-op can play a larger part, because if Dead Rising 2's co-op was anywhere near as much fun as Case West's, I doubt I'd want to play it solo more than once.
-
Jan 16, 2011Apart from the main story missions, of which there are only three, and the handful of survivors that need your help, there's not a lot else to do apart from slaughter as many zombies and bad guys as you can.
-
Game InformerJan 14, 2011For diehard fans of the series, this one's a must-play. For everyone else, Case West is fun, but hardly essential. [Feb 2011, p.95]
-
Jan 10, 2011Dead Rising 2: Case West is a good stand-alone co-op zombie slayer and definite for all 360 fans of the franchise. Just don't expect too many answers.
-
Jan 10, 2011Dead Rising fans will enjoy it most, but even carnage-craving newbies will easily get their money's worth. [Feb 2011, p.73]
-
Jan 5, 2011It's funny, challenging, and easily worth replaying a few times; there are only two endings this time around, but you're unlikely to see everything the Phenotrans lab has to offer in a single outing.
-
Jan 4, 2011For a downloadable title this is one polished experience.
-
Jan 3, 2011A cynical and frustratingly abrupt ending that quite deliberately leaves too many unanswered questions and story threads dangling is about the only real sour note struck by another accomplished downloadable release from Capcom.
-
Dec 29, 2010Considering its excellent quality/price ratio as well as the new weapons, items, enemies and vehicles, Case West proves to be a quality purchase for any fans of the franchise.
-
Jan 8, 2011The appeal of creatively eradicating the undead remains undeniable. Drab environment and co-op hiccups aside, there's plenty to enjoy in the three-hour campaign to make it worth the $10 asking price.
-
Jan 31, 2011This new DLC does not succeed in becoming a must have for every gamer out there and case west ends up being reccomended just to Dead Rising hardcore fans.
-
Jan 25, 2011For 360 owners, Case West is worth a couple of playthroughs, but it's just not as fun as the main game. The only real reason it has to exist is to please fans by bringing Frank back, and that by itself isn't enough to justify getting shot for two hours straight.
-
Jan 24, 2011The Xbox 360 exclusive add-ons in the Case Zero prequel, and here in the Case West finale give the game a fitting introduction and end.
-
Jan 1, 2011The game is still very fun to play and worth the 800 points on the marketplace if you're a fan of Dead Rising, but it doesn't offer as good of an experience as Case Zero or Dead Rising 2 did.
-
Dec 28, 2010Overall, Case West is a good game, with a great gameplay, good visuals and an incredible cooperative play. It feels more of the same and it lacks the tension of previous entries, as it is mainly a presentation of the plot that, surely, we will see in Dead Rising 3. Highly recommended for fans of the franchise.
-
Dec 27, 2010Case Zero was great because it was just $5 and was an excellent prologue to DR2, while Case West doesn't bring about quite as much for twice the price. Sure, it's a bit longer and has co-op, but it is far less intriguing than Case Zero and the added content such as the camera feels half-baked.
-
Jan 10, 2011The hack and slash excellence of Dead Rising 2 returns with the added flavor of photography. It is a win/win situation.
-
Jan 10, 2011There's a moderately satisfying amount of entertainment to be found in Dead Rising 2: Case West, but the $10 cost seems high for the 2.5 hour play time.
-
Jan 6, 2011Case West picks up right where Dead Rising 2 left off, with Frank West making a comeback from the first game in the series. You can immediately tell that the game is built for co-op, and is a blast with a friend over Xbox Live. Playing on your own is a different story, as the AI controlled Frank is so efficient at killing zombies that you often feel like a useless hang-around. Still, if you liked Dead Rising 2, you will like this as well.
-
Jan 6, 2011Case West is not as good as Case Zero. It costs twice as much as its predecessor and the changes it has undergone don't go along with the series' roots, even though it's still a great pleasure to slaughter hundreds of zombies. If you've enjoyed Case Zero and Dead Rising 2, you will also enjoy Case West. Just not as much.
-
Jan 4, 2011Another excellent download that's arguably more entertaining than the main game, with an improved co-op mode and a more focused adventure.
-
Jan 4, 2011Not as good as Capcom promised, as Case Zero was much better, but you'll have to pay for it if you want to enjoy the true ending for Dead Rising 2.
-
Jan 4, 2011This is a must-buy for series followers, but for no one else. It's a really short game, although faithful to Dead Rising 2, but we miss any new feature to justify shipping it separately, and also more options in the cooperative mode, its main new feature.
-
Jan 4, 2011A lack of core changes means this loses some of Dead Rising's novel excitement, but there is still plenty of zombie-smashing fun to be had in this downloadable offering.
-
Dec 27, 2010For Dead Rising's last chapter we would have expected a higher challenge level, however this problem doesn't affect the basic gameplay completely, due to the good amount of new weapons that still brings a lot o fun.
-
Jan 1, 2011Dead Rising 2: Case West is a fun game, but the dull setting and lack of shopping makes this my least favorite installment yet.
-
Jan 9, 2011At any rate, Dead Rising 2: Case West should please gamers who haven't grown tired of Dead Rising 2's incessant zombie slaying. It's puzzling as to why Capcom feels this DLC is worth $10 when Case Zero was more fun (and half the price...), but fans of zombie games and Frank West will probably feel right at home here.
-
Jan 5, 2011As a standalone XBLA offering, Case West is technically a decent value, a bite-sized slice of Dead Rising 2 with online co-op, but the game it's wrapped around is nothing special.
-
Jan 19, 2011Case West will satisfy those who haven't sold their copy of Dead Rising 2, otherwise I would hold off until the next installment of zombie-bashing from Blue Castle.
-
Jan 19, 2011If you loved Dead Rising 2, then there's no reason you shouldn't continue the story with Case West. There are some disappointments, but it's good, gory, Dead Rising fun.
-
Jan 4, 2011This isn't a particularly inventive release, and while having Frank West is certainly cool; his presence alone isn't enough to atone for some of the flaws I have issues with. I was really hoping for a bit more here, but overall I feel kind of let down by what Case West has to offer.
-
Jan 7, 2011While there's still fun to be had in slicing, bludgeoning, and shooting zombies, the surrounding elements in Case West are far less conducive to amplifying it. Die-hard Dead Rising completionists need only apply.
