    Inferior to the PS3 version, but both versions are not worth it. Really old and been there, done that.. If you have played MW2, don't bother with this, buy Uncharted 3 or something worthwhile instead., don't waste your money on this game, it's simply not worth it.

    More re-hashed crap, it's sad and very disheartening when companies such as this are so blatently obvious in their scramble to make cash. The game is just about identical to MW2 and Black Ops, hell it even uses the same game engine!

    I love the genre, and I've spent alot of hours playing the COD franchise over the years and sadly I just can't do it again. The game is solid, the multiplayer is there like always but it's just that. I wanted to be blown away, I wanted to have those solid moments and I do when i'm running with the old COD team and yet.. something's missing.     Basically the Modern Warfare 2 with a horde mode
    The story is nonsensical (something about Russians blowing up kids) Multiplayer is copy and paste from MW2
    We can't let big developers get away with this lazy game design any more
    I want some bloody originality!

I would rather go to sleep at the steering wheel then to play another 5 minutes of this game, constant bugs and glitches, no innovative gameplay, at all, just a different way of accessing your killstreaks and perks and weapons, but overall the game feels cliched, and exactly like MW2 except more like an expansion pack. But the thing I hate the most, all these pro critics sitsimply boring. Its starting to become about money and not quality when it comes to Activision, Infinity Ward and Treyarch.

    Who ever buys this game and like it, is a very generic human being and has to be put down at once. Way to sad to see peoples lifes rot away as they play MW3    … Expand

    Where to start? I have been playing COD since the very first game on PC, and IMO Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is the best COD game in the entire franchise. What happened Infinity Ward? Modern Warfare 3 is the same as Black Ops / Modern Warfare 2....it's just more of the same. This game really could have been released as a $30 expansion (or something like that). To give Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games credit, they did do a remarkable job with the graphics (this is at least a four year old engine), and you can tell they worked extremely hard to deliver this.

    Bottom line, buy this, yes or no?: No - Save your money and play COD: Modern Warfare if you need your "war" game fix.    … Expand

    Same usual crappy game just like Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. Call of Duty needs to get some serious changes and fixes to it because I'm sick and tired of the same gameplay. A proper Call of Duty needs to be built ground up, with a proper non-over-the-top storyline and balanced, skill-requiring multiplayer.

    Dear Christ get real. Anyhoo, dear discerning readers and prospective buyers, all one has to do is simply READ the reviews. So far I haven't seen a single super-negative review that doesn't list off their points for rating this game as such. Not a single negative review I've seen even makes mention of BF. The only times BF gets mentioned is when the super fanboys (and no I don't arbitrarily consider one who simply enjoys COD to be a "fanboy" -- I'm referring to, as I mentioned earlier: the ones who put this game on a pedestal simply because of what it's called and spend more time on the internet trolling sales figures than providing valid points for what actually makes this game anything good... damn that was a long parenthetical eh?) come on here, see the negatives and make such baseless claims. Be warned people: If you are on the fence about it and haven't bought it yet, it literally is not worth the full price. I can't stress this enough. This game is, at best, a $19.99 expansion. Failing that, a 1200 microsoft point DLC pack. People ARE NOT exaggerating when they label this game as such. Of course the die hards making twenty accounts to label this game a perfect 10 are going to take offense to this.... but take a look at their responses (for a little fun in sociological study):

    Unfortunately, the days of the old Infinity Ward were over about a year ago. Now theyre picking up the pieces and putting a mediocre game together that will only progress further and further until it becomes a "Madden" like situation... RIP Pre 2009 Infinity Ward

    It looks, feels and plays almost exactly like MW3. And not in 'MW3 reminds me of MW2' but in a 'What exactly is the difference between these two games?' way. Save yourself 60 bucks and just keep playing Black Ops.

"Delta Force: Extreme" was a better sequel than this. multiplayer is exactly the same and still lacks the same problems
    singleplayer is average .. the parts where u are actually able to play is just the same, because the AI is still really bad and their behaviour is already known
    co-op is worse then in black ops
    no innovations, no improvements i dont recommend buying this game    … Expand

    This game suffers from digital schizophrenia. On the one hand you have truly brilliant set pieces in tight controlled environments against intelligent enemies, and on the other MUCH larger hand you have monotonous fire fight campaigns where you repeatedly shoot the same combat armour clad bad guys who respawn just off of screen. As a headline that sums this game up quite well.

    I should stop at this point to say that I was a massive fan of the original MW. It came out at a time when 99% of big name console FPS releases were set squarely in WW2, it broke a trend that had led me to stop buying first person shooters because I had pretty much seen it all before. Cod4 for me revolutionised how stories were told in gaming from the opening sequence where you took the role of Yasir Al-Fulani being bundled into a car, with the player having no real idea of where you were going but having no doubt that it would be bad, to playing Sgt Paul Jackson for a fair portion of the game only to end up crawling out of a downed chinook after a nuclear strike and inevitably dying in the street, it shook up the tired formula that had persisted to that point. In MW2 these devices were evolved continued to be used with great effect. Very few of us saw our eventual betrayal at the hands of Gen Shepherd coming, I know it annoyed me when Roach was killed (in a good way) and for a game to actually raise some sort of emotion in a 'meh' generation gamer was quite an achievement. I make these points because they show how great the series has been, and they best illustrate how poor a successor MW3 really is. To get the most grating bit for me out of the way first, the story is a mish-mash at best, you find yourself jumping from body to body so frequently you never really have the time to learn the characters name, let alone care about them. As mentioned when Roach was shot and set on fire I was physically annoyed as it was my character that I'd plodded through the story with and started to identify. This time round within an hour a Russian body guard you've played as for all of five minutes cops a bullet in the chest and you barely blink. I personally couldn't care because I had no attachment to this faceless, voiceless and might as well be nameless bodyguard, for all I knew he could be a kitten strangler and being wasted was just karma catching up with him. As a side note these twist are a double edged sword, why am I forced to keep a guy alive if he's just going to die in 5 minutes anyway? In MW2 and MW3 both times this happens there are plenty of other NPC's who could complete the objective for me so why is it so important that I make it to the precise point death is waiting for me? Anyhow...

    Another character I couldn't care less about is Yuri, another faceless, voiceless nobody who you play through the (let's face it, better) task force 141 campaign. It seems like a real mis-step after having played the brilliantly paced back end of MW2 as Soap, to dump you in the body of someone else to view him from afar. It's not that I'm in love with Soap, I just admire the budding bro-mance between him and Price, and to have to sit as the third wheel watching that manly love blossom kills me. So that's a some of the bad out of the way (I can't be bothered to point out the obvious that killing wave after wave of identi-kit bad guys until you reach the checkpoint that magically halts their spawn gets real boring real quick) I'll move on to the good, and that is the set pieces. They are parts of this game that still have some magic left. A personal favourite was scuttling and hijacking a Russian nuclear sub, using it's missiles to sink the rest of the Russian fleet and then escaping on a Zodiac and driving (do you drive a boat?) right into the loading bay of a waiting helicopter. It was a spectacle and handled in a way that made you feel pretty bad ass, but that was ten bright, shiny minutes from an hours grey and boring gameplay. And that's why this game deserves such a low score, for every stand out moment there's 5 dull missions you drudge through as quickly as you can to try to get to them. This game isn't a revolution, it isn't even a evolution of the previous titles, it's emulation of MW's much earlier greats and that's why those calling it Modern Warfare 2.5 have summed this game up better than I ever could.    … Expand

    Only a few months ago I told myself and others that talked to me about MW3 that there was no way I would buy the game this year.     So, where do I start? Well, let's be honest, COD is a multiplayer game, we all know the campaign is always incredibly average and so it's no surprise that in that respect that is again the case this year, but when a game that leans so heavily towards it's multiplayer starts to fail in that area too, well, then you've got real problems.

    The guns, attachments, perks and kill streaks all remain largely exactly the same as MW2, and I can live with that, but the maps are just truly and utterly ABYSMAL. I have put quite a few hours into the multiplayer so far and I can honestly say I haven't come across one single map that I've found remotely interesting or fun, the lack of effort and imagination is quite disgraceful. Everything looks a shade grey, there's far too much debris and **** everywhere breaking up the play, there's a ridiculous amount of pointless corridors on every map meaning there's very little space (as with the unbelievable amounts of debris), too many needless height levels break up the flow of the game and as a general package the maps just seem like an awful re-hash of a number of older maps poorly squashed together with minimal to no effort.

    At the end of the day, MW3 has and will do it's job - make a **** load of money, but I find it sad that a company and a franchise that rakes in as much cash as it does, is so happy to completely rest on their laurels and sell the game purely off of the brand name and the hype, rather than even make the slightest effort to show some imagination and effort to innovate or even just advance the game a little bit and actually achieve something that they can genuinely be proud of.

    I just hope to god that other gaming companies and franchises don't start to follow suite with the lack of ambition and laziness that the once great COD franchise has.    … Expand

    Man, do I feel cheated. I bought this for PC (for multiplayer) and Xbox 360 (for single player) and got a tweeked version of MW2 :( Activision, give me back my money! That said, the single player campaign is not bad and perfect for a relaxed gaming session. Like all COD games you just run along a predestined course with pretty easy resistance so it does not require your undividedMan, do I feel cheated. I bought this for PC (for multiplayer) and Xbox 360 (for single player) and got a tweeked version of MW2 :( Activision, give me back my money! That said, the single player campaign is not bad and perfect for a relaxed gaming session. Play it on Xbox and you dont even need fast reflexes som anybody can play, even old farts like me. The PC version thought, reguire that you are young or have an extraordinary nervous system och great eye-hand coordination. But then again, most multiplayer console titles are better suited for elder gamers like me who is "reflex and precision impaired by age" :) Overall multiplayer is great fun, but not suited for competetive gaming.… Expand

    Seriously it didn't take more than a few minutes of gameplay to see this that this is the same exact stuff that we have been fed for a while. The running makes me sick, it is just dumb gameplay. Thank god for Skyrim coming out in two days, i will never put this in my console again. I really hope this is the last of the series and it will try to reinvent itself again in the future.

    I honestly enjoyed MW2, but MW3 is absolutely horrible. The campaign is the only good part about this game. Multiplayer on the other hand just ruined this game. I won't even give it the name of MW2.5 it is more like MW2.01.

There are areas where it tries to be original (the plane scene, I use the term scene because the entire game is more equivalent to a Michael Bay movie) but it fails to be interesting in the gameplay. I mean, we did this in 2007, what the hell have they done since that makes it any more engaging? Cinematic? Cool, but if I wanted cinematics I'd watch a movie or a heap of game trailers for a fraction of the price.

    Now - multiplayer. The level 'design' is piss weak which has obviously only been designed for a 360 controller, which isn't bad, but anyone that is half decent with one will find it boring after an hour or two. You can get away with just running around aiming only on a horizontal axis.

    This is a joke. IW are a joke. It seems only Treyarch can create a semi-decent COD now, and even then...

    What gets me the most is that this is what sells. Judging by the user score, it might not be the case next year, unless the developers pull their #*(@!ing fingers out.    … Expand

    I remember playing COD4 and even MW2 and everyone ran different guns, different styles of play and used different strategies for every map. Above it all the maps made it fun. They didn't try to be anything in particular, they were just the perfect basis for diverse gameplay. Above it all the maps made it fun. They didn't try to be anything in particular, they were just the perfect basis for diverse gameplay. It was fun to be different and see the results in trying new things and/or trying what others did and listening to the banter it created. Now I feel locked into a simple run and gun game that stifles creativity and makes what looks (graphically) the same as the last 2 COD games feel tired and boring. It feels like whoever made this game took the original IW team's hard work and listened to the biggest whiners and crybaby players and turned what used to be a diverse game into a vanilla shooter with a few new gimmicks thrown in to try to satisfy us. I remember watching the Robert Bowling hype videos on XBL and listening to him talk about "listening to the community" and taking out the most annoying aspects out of the game. To this end they have but have allowed a whole other of contingent of annoying aspects to thrive. This game, like most things made by a commitee, in a community people pissing and moaning and yelling in the annonyimty of the internet has produced a substandard product.… Expand

    This is game is awesome,a great multiplexer a satisfying ending to the Modern Warfare story and funny at some points,BUT : it didn't bring anything new to the table it is more of the same as before and as a game I feel betrayed by this I was expecting some dramatic changes like light sabers and grenades made of fruit, because when life gives u Lemons.....U make LEMONGRANDE!

You can find screenshots on the internet showing you the exact same buildings and etc in the older games all they have done is placed them in different locations on a map.     I just couldn't grasp the what was happening when I read the articles, for other games that have come out recently you could read the reviews and feel the excitement in the article about how awesome the game really is (Arkham City, Uncharted 3) but for MW3 it almost feels like reviews are saying "Its the same game you have been playing since 2005, so why wouldn't we give it a very high score?" That is just totally acceptable and just lazy.

    Sure people are going to buy it, enjoy it and play it for months to come. But I certainly won't. MW2 was the last COD I played for an extensive period. Black Ops I played for all of 2 weeks then sold it back to gamestop. And I am going to do the same with MW3 this weekend, I would have done it earlier but I have too much work and school.I might as well get as much of my money back as I can because I literally got bored within 3 hours of playing it (Some campaign, mostly multi-player)

    The biggest change/addition this game received cost an extra $50 a year, COD Elite. I don't know that much about it at all but from what I am seeing it seems like it is nearly the same as what Bungie did for FREE for Halo 3 and Reach on their website. The ability to look up personal trackers for yourself, # of kills with X weapon, where you kill/die the most on maps etc. I don't know too much more than that.    … Expand

    This game is great if you're 12. It's been nothing but a bunch of little kids running around no-scoping for 3 days now. The graphics are terrible and the maps are tiny mazes of hallways and corridors. The campaign is short and too over the top. I don't recommend.

    Look at the sounds in multiplayer, WTF, each gun with a sliencer sounds almost same. M4A1 sounds like heavy machine gun. maps are so small, narrow, u just like a rat running in the street, it's full of crap and useless garbage. However, MW2's map are elaborately designed.

Now to the bad side, the campain ending is really predictable and unfinished, they didnt even talk about where did nikolai or the others goes or what happens afterwards. Everything in the campain feels the same as MW and MW2, fighting russians, fighting terriost, terriost attacks/bombs, its just like they are reusing the same killing russians and chasing makarov idea over and over again which leads to an really expected storyline, it feels unfinished considering its the last of the triology, spec ops is really, and when i say really, i mean REALLY boring when you play alone even with a stranger, your partner runs everywhere leading to fails and frustration really messes up the whole spec ops experience. The multiplayer does have a great variety of customization but it lacks a great variety of new, refreshing gameplay experience, anyone who play any COD have already player MW3, still the run and gun experience, still alot of campers, alot of people frequenly quiting games in the middle of a match, and alot more. The maps are really the same maps from MW2 but repositioned and remodelled, you will find all the maps really similar to the maps in MW2. MW3 still have the one-sided feeling for every match, the team that wins one game, most of the time will keep winning untill someone left or someone joined. What really brings MW3 down to a 4 and not a 5 or 6 is that when i search for a game such as TDM, i see more than 100 thousand player that specific gametype and it can tell me no game are avaliable, then i try kill comfirmed, domination, and other gametypes, none, i can search no games at all, not even one, that is really dissapointing. Well if you are a fan of the COD series and feels like nothing needs to be changed from before, than you will find much satisfation out of MW3 but if you feels MW3 is a quntity over quality, then you should pass.… Expand

    Mechanically, the game is as sound as ever. If something is shot it dies, if something is caught in an explosion it dies, if something is hurt and stays out of danger for a few moments it chalks up the injury as a lesson learned and gets back into the game that much more competent.

    The story, a lacklustre affair, is half of the deal-breaker. Playing through on 'Regular' difficulty (the average setting for those unfamiliar with in-game terminology) I was able to complete the campaign in five hours. Even though multiplayer as always been the most important component for the majority of players, this doesn't excuse how shockingly short the single player portion is. Put simply, the single player would be fairly priced at a quarter of its current level.

    The multiplayer also utterly fails to stand up to its ancestry. The core gameplay mechanics are almost completely unaltered from previous games, and even then draws upon the worst the series has offered. The inadequate weaponry system from Black Ops makes a wholly unwanted return, and idle sway on weaponry, rightly criticised in the first Modern Warfare and therefore dropped to universal praise, has returned. Many weapons still feature glaring inconsistencies with their real-world counterparts, and as often as not the newly introduced ordinance comes across as older weapons physically remodelled but functionally unaltered. The issues with hitboxes seem unresolved, and the problems with spawning and balancing of teams have clearly had no attention, despite being some of the most popular criticisms of the series as a whole. In short, the game is mechanically IDENTICAL to its immediate predecessor, Modern Warfare 2, with newly introduced weaponry having nothing to distinguish it from older weapons save new models.

    The multiplayer maps themselves feel uninspired and unbalanced, with poor flow and confusing, unintuitive layouts and reference points, although this seems part of the long-term strategy to force players into buying expensive map pack DLC in order to actually enjoy the multiplayer experience they paid so much for to begin with.

    This is the real deal-breaker: Black Ops, a game released barely a year ago, has pumped out four DLC map packs at a price of £10 each, pushing many players to part with up to £100 for a complete experience - a hefty price for a multiplayer-only game in anyone's book. Within two months a new DLC map pack WILL have been released for this game, meaning that in a year the Call of Duty series could have soaked up £170 of your money, without even going into special edition prices. That is, put simply, a lot of money for something that is almost functionally identical to something that most players already purchased two years ago.

    A final gripe is the graphics. This should never be something that influences the purchase of a game, and yet here it does. The engine seems to have remained fundamentally unaltered since the first Modern Warfare four years ago, and put simply, it is badly showing its age. General texturing quality actually seems to have DECREASED in some areas, something which should not be happening in any series, ever. One can only presume makers Infinity Ward spent the last two years deciding on how to make the launch multiplayer maps so poor in quality that purchasers would be forced to buy their exorbitantly priced DLC.

    In short, the Call of Duty series releases a new game every year, and this seems to prevent enough time being taken to actually fully pad out the final product. The single player feels rushed and cut-down, the engine seems to be unaltered, and overall the multiplayer seems to consist of a gimmicky DLC set of games and a poor-quality map pack. Most of what's new is just older code with a new coat of paint, and what's genuinely new is stolen from other, better-made games. If you have a previous instalment of the Call of Duty series, there is literally nothing to recommend this game for anything beyond a rental.    … Expand

The game is basically a copy of Mw2 with new maps and guns, plus a subscription fee for something that should be considered free. The DLC is always overpriced.

It's the same game! the only big innovation the series has under it's belt is the perk system which made cod 4 one of the best multiplayer games i have ever played. zombies was introduced with waw but it isn't an innovation because it came out the same year that gears introduced horde mode. weapon customization also came with cod 4 but there have been other older franchises to use that in their games (example: socom series) once i got bored of multiplayer my friend and i played survival mode, which i really enjoyed. i feel like they did a good job on that, not an innovation but they definitely refined the horde gametype. there was some disappointment that came with survival mode though. i didn't understand why it was only 2 player, even on online co-op. zombies was 4 player, how come survival can't be 4 player as well? i wasn't a big fan of spec ops on mw 2, and they seemed very similar in mw 3. the last thing i was disappointed with was how short the campaign was, we beat in like 5 hours. we didn't even try to rush through it I'm sure someone could beat it under 5 hours which is sad. with how short the campaign was i feel like they should have cut it completely, along with the spec ops missions. instead they should have had a major focus on multiplayer. makes sense right? i mean they just came out with the elite service to track your stats. why even make singleplayer options? anyways i feel like with the focus on multiplayer they could have made survival 4 player co-op, and they could have added more multiplayer options such as guns, maps, camo, etc. but they will just make you spend $15 on that later. the only thing about this game that saved it from getting anything lower than a 4 is the fact that survival was fun. i think there needs to be a change in the cod formula. if activision read this they would think i'm crazy because economically it does not make sense, why change the formula for something that makes you billions of dollars? all i have to say is that they have lost my business and i will not buy another call of duty until they make some innovations. the only thing that can make that happen is competition. competition is excellent for the gaming industry, because it makes the consumer happy because developers are constantly trying to out due their counterpart. this leads to great games for consumers, and money circulating in the industry. every great dynasty has to fall, and eventually people will realize that $60 is a waste of money if it's basically the same game as last year. the same problem is happening with madden, people are starting to realize that there is no innovation with that game, and the game critics are finally showing it with their scores, and yet critics still rate call of duty games high...hmm. the last thing i will say is for the call of duty fanboys. insanity- when someone does the same thing over and over while expecting a different result.… Expand

I had rented this game for a month to try it out, I thought i might ask friends and family for it for Christmas because i wasn't willing to spend my own money for it, but now I don't think its worth their money either. For anyone that is going to buy it for the campaign, just watch the videos on youtube or rent it because $60 for a campaign isn't worth it. Now some people defend Call of Duty not having a new game engine because it is in a contract with Activision to release a game every year. That is completely absurd because if they don't realize it, the game switches developers every other year so two or three years is plenty of time to develop a better game engine, considering they say that the game engine has been updated, but is just isn't seen, I feel i am playing Call of Duty 4. This is just blended **** of the same thing. Sound quality is still poor and the guns sound like stuff out of Star Trek. There were no memorable moments in the campaign. The multiplayer is boring since I already played MW2. The best thing they could think of was "Kill Confirmed" which isn't even Team Deathmatch with a twist (as they advertise) it's just team deathmatch. It's the same guns, the same campers. The only thing they've added is just more ways to get killed and more reasons to get frustrated with the game just as they did with MW2. And I can't get over the fact that the graphics and visuals are all the same! Explosions look and sound the same, guns look and sound the same, basically every animation that they have is just a copy MW2. The storyline in campaign is just a bunch of random events tied together with sketchy transitions. It's impossible to get attached to characters even though we've had them for three full games so any death in the characters is no where near as emotional as they expect it to be. If you want to get MW3, just keep playing MW2 because it really is just the same goddamn thing. I would think that because BF3 had just come out, that Infinity Ward would be doing their best to innovate and update rather than repackaging the same stuff. It's kind of like the iPhone 4s, change a bit here and there, slap an new title on it and call it the best thing on the market. Hopefully I can sell my copy to Infinity Ward's next victim on EBay. The campaign is utter **** It's too short to be a good campaign, and the fact that they removed stealth missions (Not stealth segments, I mean balls-to-the-walls stealth missions, like All Ghillied Up, Cliffhanger, and Vendetta) is just sad. Now all there is is just straight up enemy grinding. That's not what I want to see in a campaign, I want these grind missions, because every FPS pretty much needs them, but I also want the epic stealth that Call of Duty has done so well before.

    And... I don't think I even need to touch on the multiplayer. It's pretty much just Modern Warfare 2.5 with a few new guns and even ****tier maps. I mean, sure, the killstreak setups were nice, with the assault, support, and specialist, yeah, and it was fun using some of the new guns, like the PP90-M1, despite it being very OP, but really? Recycling the same Modern Warfare 2 engine, making the maps even WORSE, and overall just completely ruining the multiplayer? Really, Infinity Ward?     Biggest disappointment since Star Wars: Phantom Menace. After 2 years of development game looks exactly the same as MW2. I expected at least same difference that CoD4 and 6 had. Nothing like it. Perks are unbalanced AGAIN. Assassin and Blind Eye make killstreaks useless. Tube is powerful AGAIN. Money Wasted 3th time.

Problem is that this should have been done before MW2 was released--they let a game go two years with the most ridiculous imbalanced **** I have ever seen, and then they charge me $60 for the same game, but with the bull**** removed? This game is what MW2 should have been--plain and simple. The graphics aren't bad or anything, but they do feel dated now, as the engine is now 4 years old without any major improvements. Again, nothing horrible, but for this game I expected much more for my $60 considering the gameplay is a carbon copy of the previous entry in the MW series. Gameplay is again the same as before, however, I'm not sure if it's just me, but the quality of online play has seemed to decrease in every MW entry. Hit detection is at an all time low in terms of quality, and you'll find yourself many of times shooting ghosts that just won't die, but kill you in a single bullet. Then you watch the kill-cam only to find out that you weren't even shooting, or no one was there and the person that killed you with one bullet actually layed a half a clip into you. I'm not saying this hasn't happened in past games, but it just seems to be more frequent in this game--much more frequent.

    The maps are an absolute disaster--this causes other issues as well (I'll get to that in a bit). The maps feel like a giant circle filled with objects--after the initial spawn, there is no sense of helping my team push forward, there are just people everywhere and massive amounts of spawn killing. This is partly due to the map design having no sides--it's constant shooting in the back and side. Not that this shouldn't happen from flanking, but the spawning coupled with map design causes it to happen far too frequently. The maps overall feel like a cluster **** There are a couple of gems in there like Bakaara, but a large percentage of maps are garbage.

    ELITE was a great idea, but most of those statistics were available in Black Ops, so pitching it with the DLC as a pay service is a little offensive--it doesn't help that for the first couple of weeks that the service wasn't available. You didn't know how many people were going to log in? Really? Because you seem to make announcements about breaking pre-order records and such, so it's pretty obvious you have some idea of the number of players you'll have.

    Matchmaking hasn't been a problem for me, so no real complaints there, but I do have a small beef with them including the modes Gun Game and One in the Chamber, but only making them available for a private match--I mean, what the **** good is that? Yeah, I have 8 friends available all of the time to play COD, so I can enjoy these two incredibly good game modes....nope I don't, and what a shame that I can't enjoy these modes online with other player not on my friends list.

    Finally, I'll close out with the biggest issue with COD--not just MW3, but with the series in general: the community. The COD community are vile, ignorant, hateful excuses for human beings. There, of course, are normal players out there, but I've never seen such attention starved losers in my entire life. My favorites are the people who just make random annoying noises in the mic for the entire game. I truly hate interacting with most of these people--U MAD BRO?? lowlslzzz Seriously, the lack of sportsmanship is disgraceful--I remember playing MW1 and people saying "good game" to the other team. Nothing like that here--a bunch of raging, cheating, losers that enjoy attempting to make other people miserable, it really is pathetic.

    In closing, if you have been a Modern Warfare fan from the start, at least pick it up for the campaign. For new players, tred lightly as the series is at an all time low, in my opinion.

    If this game wasn't the sequel to the sequel of one of my favorite games of all time, I would give it a 5-6, but since it is I give it a 0 to display my disatification with the way Activision has handled this once glorious IP.    … Expand

The story should have ended in mw2 instead of side tracking just to say Hey there is going to be modern warfare 3 in two years. After the fall and decline of Cod3, Cod4 Mw came out and perfected the series and gave it a new life. Now after 4 or 5 years they are still trying to ride that train. Since mw2,call of duty has become the madden and dynasty warriors of games. One of the biggest issues was discovering the youtube video that shows buildings from previous Cod games placed into mw3. Now I find out that Modern Warfare 3 Developer Begs for Good Reviews. Are you serious? If you wanted good user reviews you shouldn't have made the same game over and over. If assassin's creed can come out every year with a compelling story added content and new things than why can't Call of Duty. It seems we are back into the Cod 3 phase where people were done and bored with it. I hope 2012 brings a new engine and a new game that does something different instead of the copy paste its been known for. Even the box art looks similar to mw2. You changed the color and turned his head. I really wanted to enjoy mw3 but I couldn't. There was nothing i haven't seen or done before. The first mission is suppose to be what sets you up for the entire game but it was boring and dull. I think its time to put an end to this very disturbing reality where developers get away with things like these, so please think twice before buying rehashed crap that will only lead to more abusive companies.

    Actually Impressed! It was better than i though it would be, really! Obviously it still sucks, no real destruction or vehicles. The graphics are not bad, but it still feels like Modern Warfare 2 :( The only reason it has awesome sales is cause there's tons of little 10 year old kids who are just followers and want to be really bad ass playing Cod.. makes me never want to buy another one!

    Should be called Modern Warfare 2.00001. Graphics are same as they were for MW2, the gun customization and call signs seem smaller and worse than MW2. Maps also seem smaller and uninspired, and there is evidence that they have recycled buildings from previous COD's. Feel like I wasted 60 dollars on what should have been a DLC. I guess i just expected more from it.

    Total rehash of an older game that's still running on an outdated engine. It's not even like they tried to hide it either: the main menu is even unchanged! Total lack of effort. Sad to think this is what people expect from an AAA title, rubbish! On the bright side will make a nice down payment on Skyrim come Friday when I trade it in.

    Game is just MW2 in a different wrapper. There is no innovation in this game, and is completely stale. I must say they really dropped the ball. The fact that people are willing to buy this game just shows that we are all ok with settling for mediocrity in our first person shooters.

Single-player is the exact same thing as before. The one, very short experience up in the AC-130 was the most enjoyable thing in the game, and it was nowhere near as fun as in MW2. Outside of that, you're basically jumping between random characters in different countries doing whatever is necessary to make the story appear to move forward. I enjoyed the way things progressed through MW2, because there were some neat aspects to it in addition to the AC-130 mission, like the Zahkaev sniping mission where you're in a very tall building a long way off, or when you had to protect your sniper buddy in Chernobyl, or storming an enemy compound with Soap during a snowstorm. MW3 is not innovative like this in any way. It brings absolutely ZERO newness to the table. Like everyone has said, they basically copied what they did with MW2, threw a low-budget, cookie cutter movie sequel story line on it, stole some multiplayer aspects from other games, made them all worse, and renamed them so they would appear fresh and new.

    My advice? If you haven't yet bought this atrocity, buy Skyrim on 11/11/11 and enjoy what will surely be countless hours of actual innovation and gameplay.    … Expand

    Rehashed Garbage!! I mean come on. If you are going to spend 100 Mil on advertising a steaming pile, at least spend a significant proportion on the actual technology. BF3 really makes this garbage stand out even more. I have had it with these big companies squeezing the last drop of blood from us consumers by selling and hyping junk like this. truly disappointed.

    Sure the single-player is fun. Its a Shooter and you are shooting stuff all the time, no? But then again, I find myself on the 3rd game of the series asking who the **** these characters are and why should I care about them. Annoying **** kill streaks and noobs that think they're badass playing with aim assist and UMP. The only decent thing in the game is the Team Defender which is just oddball from halo but with a flag. I broke my **** of doody disk.     played this game at my buddies house the other day... What can I say, I guess their going the way of Madden titles now. Just give people the same old thing, slap the current year on it and Profit$$$. By the looks of these scores though, looks like people are starting to catch on. Better come up with a new game plan Call of Duty before people start calling this Madden Warfare 2011...

    Should have been a DLC in all honesty only entertaining part is Spec Ops and survival. Thoroughly disappointing and will be trading this in and getting Skyrim.

    Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

    I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
