Also the multiplayer kill streak rewards are much more ground focused and realistic than the last couple of CODS. The watch dog kill streak is awesome!

Overall Ghosts is a great COD and in my opinion the best one to date. I never thought I'd see a COD beat COD4, but I must admit it has now happened. If you like the COD's before this, it's a must own!

I would've rated the game higher, but I'm a bit upset that demolition and headquarters wasn't included in the multiplayer game modes.

Hands down the worst installment of COD. The problem is that the game is almost solely connection based. But in Ghosts (to save money) it's more based on who has the better connection then who is the more skilled player. Similar to it's predecessors you can clearly see this in kill cams. When watching the kill cam from your opponents perspective you can see it looks nothing like what you experienced. For example if you fired at the opponent before losing the battle and it doesn't show you firing in the kill cam for his perspective. That shows a clear connection advantage that the other player has to the game. This is something completely controllable by infinity ward/activision but it's all based on how much money they are willing to spend on the experience. I for one will not be purchasing another product based on their cheapness in this instance. I hope that more gamers will chose to look to other developers/publishers (Respawn/Bethesda/Ubisoft) who are more geared towards the gamer experience. Expand

This is a standard CoD game with some useful updates and innovations. Better than both Black Ops games in my opinion. The campaign was forgettable.

In my opinion, CoD has diluted the experience that used to be so fun back in the MW2 days when killstreaks were actually worth getting, your skill with the sniper was unlimited, and map design was at an all time best. Everybody may have been "overpowered" in that game, but it made it so much more enjoyable. I had some fun with my friends playing this game but ultimately the way the game played was not fun enough to keep me coming back.

Call of Duty: Ghosts is a game that you can have fun and play with your friends, but it gets old quickly. The campaign is one that actually keeps you on your seat with the fun interactive, stealth missions, and its entertaining although it gets dangerously similar to its predecessors.

But that is what Infinity Ward and Treyarch are good at... remaking each and every one of their games.

But that is what Infinity Ward and Treyarch are good at... remaking each and every one of their games. Especially when it comes to Multiplayer. Every Call of Duty game since Modern Warfare has the same structure. Guns are extremely similar, killstreaks change but are still quite the same (How many times has a predator missile type killstreak been in the game?), the maps always consist of run down buildings, malls, villages, cities, etc. The clever, crafty thing they do is name the guns, killstreaks, maps, attachments, different! Clever, clever. Buying this game and any future Call of Duty game would be like buying a remake with a campaign with different people. I begin to wonder if they just copy and paste their code.

On that note, you can also customize your character, from the face down to the boots, which is pretty neat. Also, the connection, hit detection, and knifing all feel a lot more satisfying to me. However, I feel that you die way too fast, The spawn system is worse than ever(even though the maps are huge), and they put in a dog that will make you rage every time it kills you(it has like 5x more health than you). Extinction mode is cool. Killing aliens feels a lot cooler to me than zombies and it's also harder since there are a variety of aliens, but if you're not playing with a good team, you're going to have a bad time. The gameplay is what you would expect, the multiplayer feels like a tweaked DLC for MW3, and the immense extremely amazing graphics we were promised are lackluster at best, even on PS4. There are no real game breaking glitches or bugs, but that doesn't make up for the obvious lack of creativity seen in practically every aspect of this game. Even the Extinction mode is based off of the zombies idea Treyarch made famous 5 years ago...

Honestly, I don't even understand why people pay money for this anymore. Is it fun? Yes... for a while. Not the campaign, I wouldn't even recommend that. But the multiplayer is the same kind of fast paced, arcade-ish deal you all know and love/hate. Eventually, it just turns into the same game you paid $60 for the previous year.

Infinity Ward and Treyarch really need to either start thinking of different ideas, or fire their creative team, because this one-trick pony "if it ain't broke don't fix it" business plan may fool some of the more simple minded gamers, but its worn off with me...

My biggest complaint about the game is actually the soundwhoreing, I don't think that what headset you own should affect how good you are at the game, I felt like Black Ops 2 did the soundwhoreing right, it was harder to hear people and you could only hear people who were very close and what they were walking on depicted how loud they were (such as walking on metal you could hear them easily but hearing someone walking on grass was a little bit harder/impossible) I'm not saying soundwhoreing was good in Black Ops 2 because it wasn't i think footsteps should of been boosted up a little bit louder but not by much compared to Ghosts where you can hear people 10 to 15 ft away from you which is absolutely stupid and just causes people to corner camp a lot more because they know if they move someone will hear them. Also Dead Silence is practically useless since it can be cancelled out by Amplify, so if your playing against a soundwhore then there's really nothing you can do, especially since I've seen a lot of people running Amplify.

So I'm past the bad and now on to the "good". The story is good not the best story i felt but good, The last 2 Call of Duty's Black Ops 2 and now Ghosts have had story's worth playing through at least once, The story is also very easy on Veteran probably the easiest it's ever been in any other Call of Duty, I'm not sure to mark that as good or bad but i wish it was a little bit harder considering i usually ran through most of the levels with only 1 death or not dying at all on Veteran. Also the story lacks choice something that Black Ops 2 introduced to the single player of Call of Duty, Although i miss being able to make choices like in Black Ops 2 it's not that big of a deal and something most people will overlook anyways with that aside the story is not going to amaze you but if your bored and have nothing to do it will keep you busy for a couple hours.

Let's move on to what i like about the Multiplayer of Ghosts. The new class system is quite nice even though its it's a bit confusing at first. Now you can pick from a huge list of perks which is pretty cool even if some of them are not the most useful perks such as being able to "reload while running" but still cool, I found myself having trouble figuring out what perks to use and what not to use since there is a lot of them. The guns are pretty good but also very powerful you die very fast and I'm pretty indifferent on it since all of the guns are pretty overpowered it sort of balances it out but since you die so fast good luck turning on someone who is shooting you in the back. So lets talk about the maps that you probably see a lot of people complaining about, Some of the maps are pretty big but there are some that are really really small also and i like the bigger maps in the game also. Some of the smaller maps like Strikezone, Octane, Sovereign, Warhawk, Freight, Tremor, Flooded and Chasm some of these maps you can be within the middle of the map in 5 seconds of spawning and some of these feel a bit bigger mostly because of how many routes you can take within the maps, I'm not a big fan of these maps mostly because of the spawns and they are a bit chaotic. There are some truly bigger maps in the game such as Stonehaven, Overlord, Siege, Stormfront, Whiteout and Prison Break(Kind of smaller but has long routes that stretch around the map), These maps are actually pretty big and it can be hard to find people sometimes. I personally like the bigger maps because the spawns are better and i haven't been spawned near or in front of a person as much as i have in the smaller maps and they are a lot less chaotic.

Ghosts is not my favorite Call of Duty far from it but it's not that bad either. There are a couple things about the game that drive me nuts and other things i felt like they did right but overall I'm giving it a 7/10 for a few reasons the spawns on the smaller maps can be really bad sometimes and need to be reworked, There are so many different routes on the maps that there seems to be no real flow to the map and instead it's just complete chaos.

Call of Duty: Ghosts is, at its core, another Call of Duty game, but this is not a bad thing. As such, it has kept most features of the franchise while attempting to breath new life into the series, with mixed results.

First, the campaign. CoD: Ghosts campaign is relatively average for the series. Unlike Black Ops 2, it forgoes branching path and choice for the more standard linear structure. Missions are generally short, but most try something new to the series, such as space/ underwater combat and a full-fledged rappelling section, as well as standard features like a stealth mission and vehicle control segments. While it is a valiant effort, bland story and shaky execution of these new features keep it from the greatness of its previous entries.

Next, the multiplayer. CoD is renowned for its multiplayer and this game is no different. Once again, the developers try some new things, most notably soldier customization and smaller additions like the knee slide. Hit detection and guns are a bit shaky, but it's nothing the series hasn't seen before, and it won't be the last. The prestige system also sees an overhaul in the form of "squad members." Incidentally, these squad members, which are purchased by the new squad points, can each by customized individually and sent out to be challenged by other player's squads. Clans have also been changed from the Elite service, and the promised clan wars starts this weekend on the 23rd. Time will tell if this feature will be a success.

Finally is the addition of the new game mode "Extinction." The "Horde" game mode of CoD: Ghosts pits you and a maximum of three others against aliens which have erupted from the depths of the earth. Gameplay primarily features using a laser drill to destroy "hives" while fending off waves of aliens, purchasing weapons, finding attachments and other bonuses in piles. It's no secret this is an attempt to duplicate the Zombies mode of Treyarch's CoD installments, but it's a fun addition nonetheless, definitely worthy of a look.

In short, Call of Duty: Ghosts is a solid entry in a solid series. The game doesn't take a lot of huge risks in favor of smaller deviations, but most of these pay off. it's not the next greatest shooter, or even the best CoD game to date, but it is worth a try.

Terrible graphics make FPSsses feel like you're not actually there. Good video games immerse you in the action. Ghosts makes a feeble attempt to revitalize the genre but comes no where near.

    ==POSSIBLE SPOILERS IN THIS PARAGRAPH==
Extinction mode however is fantastic. An FPS turned arcade mode. Skill Trees. Freeking Skill Trees. I love Skill Trees. It's a wonderful blend of different genres. Real-Time Strategy, First Person Shooter, Co-Op Survival and a few more. I love it. There are some decisions I don't agree with, like the fact that the helicopter takes absolutely ages to destroy a barrier hive without your help, and the fact that it feels like Left-4-Dead but with aliens instead of zombies. But I can overlook those small details.

    TL;DR
    Single Player: Bad
    Multiplayer: Worse
Squads: Not terrible but could do with a little work
    Extinction: Pretty good.
Not worth the price considering only one aspect of it is good. Buying it second-hand is advised.

However this is where my accolades for the latest COD game cease. Rather than listen to the majority of voices who are tired of morons running around with sniper rifles as assault weapons and getting one shot kills Activision made the situation worse. With the inclusion of quick draw and the thermal scope pretty much from day 1 of your multiplayer experience the game has devolved into a camp fest Core is damn near impossible to enjoy on TDM and Hardcore is barely tolerable. Why have the developers not learned their lesson yet. STOP MAKING SNIPERS SO POWERFUL. Most of us would rather actually run and gun since the COD franchise is not a squad or team based game for the most part. Making the maps bigger did not alleviate the problem of earlier titles, but managed to take every bad element from previous games and roll them all into one.

There are some legitimately good features. The level up system and ability to attain any weapon early on is great, except for the over the top nature of the sniper rifles. A few actual realistic tweaks and this game could have been great, but the continued failure of the developers to embrace reality relegates this one to the trash pile. I have completed the campaign and will be returning the game for BF4 tomorrow.

On the other hand call of duty ghosts gets rid of as much as it adds (no zombies) and makes 1/3 of its game squads mode a complete waste of time. Honestly I have never been a huge C.O.D fan but this is sad considering that this game is the start of the next generation of call of duty. From the previous paragraph this game deserves about a 5 considering it still delivers a passable amount of content. The reason I'm giving it a 4 is because they refuse to address previous C.O.D game's weapon balance issues which effectively makes multiplayer broken. Overall don't buy this game because friends have it and if you do wait for the price to drop 60$ is far to much to pay for this slightly tweaked remake of Call of duty black ops 2. Expand

It's bad. It's really bad. There are a number of serious issues in MP that ruins the game. The maps are the worst they've ever been in the CoD series, for starters. They're huge and has no flow to them what-so-ever. On top that you have the horribly balanced spawns which somehow makes you spawn on top of your enemy even though the maps are about the size of the Earth.

One of the devs, Mark Rubin, confirmed pre-release that quickscoping was taken out of the game. Well, I have no clue what he meant by that because sniping is more overpowered than ever. If a sniper spots you, you're dead. No skill involved you just die.

Then you have the MSBS which is a 55-20 damage burst AR, and it's lethal to say the least. It consistently one bursts enemies from short range to mid range. It's a joke of a gun. Almost as overpowered as snipers and that says a lot!

IEDs, a combination between C4 and Claymore and almost impossible to spot unless you're using SitRep. You're lucky if you're getting from an IED with your life in hand. Ridiculous piece of gamebreaking equipment right there.

Support streaks. What were they thinking bringing Support streaks back and even buffing them further?! Everyone runs Satcom, Ballistic Vests and Oracles with IEDs. To counter that you need to run 7 points worth of perks and use the FMJ attachment on your gun. The Oracle is basically a wallhack and quite possibly the stupidest thing IW has ever come up with. Seriously, what in the world were they thinking?!

They brought the panic knife back. Need I say more...

On the upside, the connection seems to be really good, so does the hit detection, but I'm struggling to see what they were trying to do with this game. With CoD4 they revolutionise the FPS genre, with MW2 they did it again, with MW3 they focused solely on gun-on-gun gameplay, and then you have the Treyarch games which focused more on the competitive aspect of the game, but with Ghosts there seems to be no clear idea of what they were trying to do. I find myself saying "What am I playing right now? What is this?" a lot. I don't get it. I don't get this game or why it was made for campers and slow players. It's honestly a joke of a game, and that's sad, because this could have been the best CoD ever. We finally have good online connections again, but at what cost? This game is definitely not worth your hard earned money.

Fail of the year goes to Infinity Ward with this sorry excuse for an online MP game.

With that said, The story is rushed through by being just a few hours long. It starts out great, but dissolves into a series of missions with a thin plot behind it pretty quickly, that are predictable and forgettable. This, however, isn't really an issue sense it is the industry standard for most online shooters(Halo seems to have evolved out of that). The story mode serves more as a long tutorial than a story.

If an original online experience is what you're buying it for, don't. This marks the 6th straight time they released a variant of the first MW's online game play.

Paying $60 a year for a slight change in weapons, perks and graphics and a bland story isn't worth it. There is no way to innovate in the confines of the Call Of Duty franchise and I say it's time to stop beating the dead horse. I don't care how great the critics think of the next one, I'm not buying another CoD game.

Generally when I get a new COD I spend the first 24 hours learning the maps, exploring whatever new features or game modes they have included and I generally end up getting killed a lot. 48 hours in and I'm usually beginning to get annoyed at the game and I have been known to send the developers to odd strongly worded email telling them what a rubbish job they've done.
Usually after about 2 weeks of perserverence I am well into the game and am usually really enjoying it (with the odd rant and rave when stupid things happen).

It is now 5 weeks down the line since this abomination was released and I find myself growing to hate it more and more as the weeks go by, to the point where I've now actually packed it away and have been researching what trade in value I am going to get for it.
I can't speak for the campaign as I never play them but the multiplayer is the biggest pile of steaming dog faeces that I've ever had the misfortune of spending £40 on. It's a laggy, unresponsive mess of a game and the developers should be ashamed of themselves. they have take out so much and put nothing worthwhile in and I am truely gtted that a franchise that has brought me so much enjoyment over the years has subnk this low. One of my biggest problems is that in the previous games, you had a chance to retaliate when someone saw you first, but this game will rarely give you the chance. It is a game of whoever sees the other person first, and I do not like it. I am not sure if this is true, but it FEELS like they changed the amount of bullets to kill someone and it ruined the game. I haven't really cared much for extinction, not really interested in it but never the less i had a go, it was quite impressive, something a little different, i found it extremely hard even with 4 people. Online so far has been a moderate yet fun experience (despite not being able to play it much). Apart from spawn points being a joke, S&D being removed (which is back in now i believe), the ability to see who is chatting in your games by removing the mic icons and also the fact that the barracks have been roomed and in order to do a challenge for an unlock etc you have to select it in the operations screen, i preferred it where once i hit certain levels i unlocked the challenges myself and could do them whenever i please. I don't see any greatly overused guns and the majority of games i have been in have been quite balanced. The good selection is very nice with a variety of guns in each category. In conclusion i this the 2.3 user score that this game has gotten is from users that are either bad at the game or are getting beaten. Especially when it got a 7.4 off critics. Yet, there are still improvements in the game, the graphics are decent, extinction mode is fun (not as fun as zombies) and the game has arguably the best campaign level where you climb the walls of a skyscraper in Caracas, Venezuela. The campaign is great and prepare to be wowed when you reach the snow fortress. Still, the campaign lacks gameplay variety, sure, you get to pilot a helicopter briefly, but besides that and controlling the dog Riley for a little bit all the missions are familiar point the gun and pull the trigger shooting. The new Squads mode in multiplayer is okay and the multiplayer is the same as any CoD game but with new maps, guns, and kill streaks. (plus you can devastate one map with an explosion!) Ghosts can't quite match Battlefield 4's 24 player matches (64 on Xbox One), but still the nine game modes are terrific. Ghosts is by no means flawless, yet is very fun nonetheless. Expand

From outer space, to beneath the sea, to the jungle, to the beach, to the oil rig, to the baseball stadium, the story bounced around and around keeping me thoroughly entertained, and the gameplay is ahead of its time. I was truly impressed, and after completing the GHOSTS campaign (in about three hours) I can say confidently that this is by far my single favorite campaign of the C.O.D. series. Multiplayer has improved, and the maps are by far the best yet. I haven't wrapped my head around the squad options yet, but for the FPS fan this is a MUST HAVE. I rate the game 9/10... Expand

I'll give IW props for trying to create an entirely new physics setup, but clearly there is an issue with how they thought this through. When every map in multiplayer is the same "all-is-medium-ranged" layout where assault rifles dominate all, along with every other weapon class watered down in the area of being unique. The ability to create a soldier is just spectacular, but the modified Pick-10 System is slightly off. Breaking up all abilities from perks into seperate perks makes selection difficult when you never feel like you have all that you need. The system was moderately confusing as well. I won't fully detail the aspects of the gameplay mechanics due to how complicated it is, but I will say that gameplay is frustrating with the poor lag compensation, mediocre kill-cams, and the lighting system (light seen through walls). I see potential in this game, if I absolutely wanted to play on the same kinds of maps all day long. DLC, which will have to be payed for, will probably be entirely a rip-off considering that every COD game's map type remains the same throughout the game, DLC or not, generating little variety.

The campaign was worthwhile, however. The storyline was somewhat unique, even if unexplained in some areas, such as why South America has capabilities beyond the U.S. Military's, how did South American combatants get into space when currently there are enough problems as is, even if in the future, and other areas. On a better note, there is an interesting ending to the campaign, and there is that tactical feel to the whole gameplay within campaign.

I've not played enough of Extinction mode to know where it could go to better itself, that is if there is much to be bettered othere than the lack of map availability. Perhaps it's just me being used to Black Ops 2, but I prefer having interesting weapons and different ways to go in a map, not being forced to play a certain way. I also thought IW was just trying to replicate Treyarch's Zombies idea, but with their own twist, causing distortions in design, like the modified Pick-10 System. In general, I believe Extinction is respectable, but not exactly superb in any way whatsoever.

In summary, this game has some good ideas to present, but you simply can't polish a blemish and expect it to win hearts. There are plenty of problems to iron out, and I hope they do iron them out, but the issues are simply unbearable to play on, so I will give this game a lower score for now.

The campaign was rather fun, but the multiplayer is a buggy, rushed piece of trash. It has about 4 guns per category instead of the usual 6 or 7, and is prone to skipping frames, especially when you are in a combat situation. To be brutally honest Infinity Ward should have stuck with making what they already are good at: Modern Warfare.

I have been a fan of Call of Duty for a while now, since BLOPS1 to be exact. But this game was a slight dissapointment. It felt unchanged. If Infinity ward had spent more time on this game, there could have been much more to it. The campaign had a ridiculous ending, Rorke is somehow alive after being SHOT and left UNDERWATER to DROWN. That doesn't make sense! The multiplayer, while somewhat of an improvement (I personally enjoyed Cranked to some degree, as well as Search and Rescue do to the one life thing from Search and Destroy), has its cons. The maps are enormous, that's no exaggeration. I remember reading somewhere that the smallest map in Ghosts, (I believe it's freefall, I don't know) is the same size as the largest map in Black Ops 2. It's also noticeably easier to die in multiplayer matches. By that, I mean that from personal experience, I have died without so much as a hit marker on my screen. I literally dropped dead as soon as the other player starts shooting. Plus, the explosion physics seem to be bipolar on how they work. I toss a C4 charge at one person, it's 2 feet in front of his face, he only gets hurt. He throws a C4 charge at me, it's 2 feet in front of MY face, I die. Don't get me started on the spawns either. Overall, the game had potential, but it was thrown away in favor of pretty pictures, dogs, and fish A.I.

COD games a generally fun for a while until it becomes that one game that sits in the corner until you buy the next game in the series next year. Alot of people hate COD because the dev's keep making the same game every year and asking for $60 even though it hasn't changed that much. I completely agree with this statement because its true. I generally wait 2-3 years before i buy a COD game again instead of throwing money away. The COD games are good games you can't deny that. The multiplayer is strong, lots of different play styles and the co-op is so damn fun when you and a bunch of friends team up and play it. This year the maps are larger which sucks because it has only 12 or 18 player slots because it was meant for next-gen. If you have Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 do your self a favor and just play that because i found the kill-streaks more fun in that game, the maps were smaller so you never went long times without finding people and the entire setting of the future was more interesting than the somewhat gloomy presence of Ghosts. Camping is at an all time high due to big maps and the gameplay trailers were misleading because they did not AT ALL show the spawning disaster that ruins multiplayer, having people spawn right beside you or on an ied. Also, for a game that is supposed to be advancing why did it go from useful uav to a backtracking sat com? You need several to do anything or make them useful. Sure campaign is fun but people buy it for the multiplayer, and they pretty much ruined that by removing game modes and using ridiculous maps. They also removed the crossbow that was the only useful counter weapon to the all annoying riot shield. Not surprised that the user rating is at 2.3 and that people are turning to bop II or battlefield. If you're a camper or a marksman class whore then you probably enjoy the endless camping spots and it is harder to see you when sitting stationary for whatever reason. But for others it is torture. To fix camping, they should put in an activity percentage, which would be a stat that shows how long your player is moving which would reveal how much you camp, and maybe weed out some campers. Just a thought. Also, I don't know what the deal is wtith the servers or something but it seems so laggy nearly half the time and no this is not due to a walmart connection mine is fine and I can play all other cod games online no problem, something about this game just doesn't work and lags easily and often. But that said, I was not really bothered too much by these flaws. I had a good time shooting the baddies. There are lots of weapons to use, and play with, and you get to do a variety of things. You can drive a tank, a helicopter, command a dog (really!), go scuba diving, and even visit outerspace.

Pick this up if you can get it for a fair price.

P.S. Since I came so late to the party, I played this with all the updates, and bug fixes. So my review is not the same as the people who bought into this early.

Worst COD title I have ever played. I have been a major player sense COD 4 and this is by far the worst. I have expected them them to just re-release the same game with new maps and A new feature. Just don't buy the game and go out and get bf4 it is soooo much better and well worth your time. Expand

Call of Duty Ghosts does a lot right and wrong. I completed most of the campaign and it really is standard Call of Duty fare. If you enjoy that you will probably like the campaign. I think it's fine. The biggest positive for me the buttery smooth hit detection. It is really satisfying and the best I have experienced in potentially any shooter. I also think the killstreaks are good and love the inclusion of perk streaks for those who want to feel like a super soldier and not bother with killstreaks. I also generally like the selection of guns in the game, though sadly some of them are easy to abuse due to certain attachments and maps, which leads me to the biggest issues with the game by far. The map pool is probably the worst I have experienced in any shooter. There are a couple decent maps that I would not mind seeing again in future COD games as bonus maps, but most are awful. They are just huge, meaning you spend forever looking for people and when you do find them it's because they killed you with a ACOG LMG while camping. Camping is a massive issue in this game (far more than any other COD) and the rather dull colors make ACOG even more effective to distinguish targets from environment. My biggest pet peeve is how you can equip a Ghillie suit which makes you even harder to spot, it is a nightmare. You can be unable to see campers right in front of you.
In summary; Great gunplay, good killstreaks, decent campaign, encourages awful playstyles, mostly bad maps. This all means that you can have amazing games if you end up with the right players, but for the most part you will want to tear your hair out.

Now lets get into multiplayer which is the core of the game, now I will say that Call of Duty Ghost is way better than Modern warfare 3 in terms of map size, customization and game mechanics, and it even surpasses some of Black ops 2 gameplay. On next generation this game looks stunning, however on current gen it almost seems like they made it look terrible on purpose to make next gen look better. Now this game is not as terrible as people make it out to be, however it is not really up to expectations for next gen conversion. So I would personally just wait for the next game by treyarch to come out and hopefully that should be up to standards. Expand

Ghosts is a complete let down for Call of Duty games, they've tried too hard in trying to make it better by only making it worse. Adding things in from other games such as Battlefield, Gears of War and Left for Dead-Soon they'll be adding a bit of FIFA in there. The whole idea of extinction i think is a bit pointless and could be improved massively, at least with zombies in other Call ofGhosts is a complete let down for Call of Duty games, they've tried too hard in trying to make it better by only making it worse. The whole idea of extinction i think is a bit pointless and could be improved massively, at least with zombies in other Call of Duty games had a connection with the campaign and have many maps giving you more to do, whereas with extinction I don't understand why or what the story behind it is? I also think machine guns are completely over powering the game, it might not be a very bad thing, but with Modern Warfare 2 (Being my favourite CoD so far) your able to use snipers which makes the game more fun for people that enjoy sniping. Removing search and destroy, I think that was a very stupid idea because it's a widely favoured game mode. Finally the whole set up of the game, for example customising classes I found quite confusing before getting used to it. Expand

the best description for this game is "disappointing". the campaign is forgettable and repetitive, but that is to be expected from a Call of Duty game because, to be honest, they are all more or less the same. i feel like most people would agree that the big draw for these newer games is the multiplayer. therein lies one of the most disappointing experiences i've had with a game. what itthe best description for this game is "disappointing". the campaign is forgettable and repetitive, but that is to be expected from a Call of Duty game because, to be honest, they are all more or less the same. i feel like most people would agree that the big draw for these newer games is the multiplayer. therein lies one of the most disappointing experiences i've had with a game. what it ultimately boils down to is that the multiplayer is just not very enjoyable, at least in my experience. I've always been more of a "run n' gun" kind of player; I do not enjoy spending my time in matches hiding in spots, waiting for people to walk by. this game does not lend itself to how i would like to play. this is not coming from a few bad games. this is coming from me putting time into the multiplayer, trying out each gun, reading the forums, watching the youtube videos, trying to figure out what the best guns and class setups for my playing style are. the first horrible aspect is the way you setup classes. at first, i thought it was cool that you could purchase some of the "better" guns by playing a few rounds, instead of grinding out challenges to level up quicker. however, after realizing how few of these credits you earn after each game, how much even the smallest attachments cost, and the downright RIDICULOUS cost of purchasing a fourth or fifth class was, i began to realize that this was a rather poor, and crippling, way to approach the multiplayer. this structure really did not allow for players to try out each gun as they progressed through the game, it was either spend points on gun A or gun B, and if you don't happen to like the gun you purchased, than god have mercy on your poor soul. overall, as stated before, every aspect of the multiplayer was disappointing. with each new map, it felt like the game rewarded the players that would just camp in spots the entire game, while punishing players like me, who preferred running around. even for maps where i had gotten a good feel for where i should go, and how to approach the map that fit my style, it was still a struggle. an endless source of frustration was the I.E.D., which to me was a certain kill, regardless of whether or not you were anywhere near it when it detonated. hell, there were times i saw these items kill players through walls and around corners, but it just wouldn't be a CoD multiplayer if the laws of physics weren't totally trampled. bottom line: the campaign was, by and far, the only part of the game that approached the realm of "fun", and for a game that puts all of its eggs in the multiplayer basket, that is not a good sign. avoid this game at all costs, it is just no good Expand

Extinction mode was my favourite, thanks to the awesome "Spray and Prey" feel, mixed in with some objectives. I enjoyed playing Extinction and would recommend it over campaign and multiplayer.

I have been a COD player sense World at War and have found that through out all of the games in the series this has been by far the worst. With a formulaic multiplayer, an over all forgettable campaign, and a stale extinction mode this game is an over all waste of money. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS BROKEN GAME!!!

It's just not that much fun. As another reviewer so correctly pointed out, you just don't get immersed in the game. I've been a big fan of the Modern Warfare series and didn't enjoy Black Ops quite as much, but with all the hype and granted amazing advertisements for it, I was hoping "Ghosts" would be something special. How naive. My biggest mistake was purchasing it as a download on sale...as I would've taken it to GameStop as a trade by now. I've only had it for about three weeks. I started the campaign and quickly became bored, so I went to the "Squads" mode to develop my skills and slowly improve my equipment options. This is a painfully slow process. It takes FOREVER to continually earn "squad points" that you can spend for simple upgrades. And you need them for virtually everything. There's no more of the standard leveling up of a weapon. But here's the thing. You never really feel like you need a launcher, or additional explosives, or tactical gear. They're seemingly pointless in how the game modes play out. One of my personal favorites of MW3 was Special Ops, playing alone or with a friend in survival mode. This was a great mode that did NOT need fixing. Now its "infected" hoards coming at you with random support being dropped around you. You no longer earn points to select how you want to defend yourself. Just pick up a sentry gun. Place it. Now watch as it "expires" after a certain amount of time. That's right, it just "expires", you lose it for no reason. It wasn't destroyed. I'm just not a fan of random aid being dropped from the sky. It eliminates the fun of actually establishing a strategy. And don't think you can setup in any decent defensive position. The maps are so open that nearly every time you think that you may have a decent defensive position it's probably compromised at some angle. Oh, Capture the Flag is gone (one of my personal multi-player favorites). I could go on and on. I keep wasting my life playing a bit more to see if anything grabs me. How can such a great title go down like this? Did they even beta test it. Did people really think it was that much fun? I need to find another source of entertainment as this game has now taken even more time from me in the form of a ranting review. Expand

It's strange for Call of Duty: Ghosts to be released so close to the next-gen console launches, and in a way, it feels like it was rushed to the finish line.
