    A reskinned Borderlands 2, this is the first game in the Borderlands series that I didn't play nonstop and it took me awhile to haul myself through this game.

    So far (incomplete review) the game is just the same-o same-o. True, there are some new 'features,' if you can even call it that, such as gravity (which in a way seems to just slow the frantic shoot and loot of borderlands down), oxygen (again, who needs to be worrying about finding air when the fun is in finding your next weapon?), main characters who are more involved in the storySo far (incomplete review) the game is just the same-o same-o. If all of this doesn't sound all that new and exciting to you, it doesn't seem new and exciting to me either. Borderlands 2 will always be one of my favorite games and Gearbox knows how to crank out the goodies, DLC, and extra content almost up until the point of this game's release, which leaves them quite a bit of room for improvement, which I hope they will utilize.… Expand

    As a big Borderlands fan, I just had to get this game. And it was good, I feel satisfied but was disappointed in the fact that with not very much playing i've completed it within just over 2 weeks of it being released. With BL2 it took me A LOT longer, well over a year of coming back and forth in phases of playing it. This game isn't even the quarter of the size of BL2. But it is worthAs a big Borderlands fan, I just had to get this game. And it was good, I feel satisfied but was disappointed in the fact that with not very much playing i've completed it within just over 2 weeks of it being released. With BL2 it took me A LOT longer, well over a year of coming back and forth in phases of playing it. This game isn't even the quarter of the size of BL2. But it is worth playing. Perhaps wait for the price to drop a little and it'll just be like buying a large expansion pack, which is really what this is. I can't fault this game dramatically because it was fun to play, and it is a good game. But I can't give it a great score because of the size (both length of the game and map sizes).… Expand

    From a story line perspective, if you have played Borderlands, you know what to expect; story is definitely not their forte, but it is serviceable and always humorous (especially TVHM when Tina gets in on it).     Gunplay remains the strength; and they have added lasers to the mix; which is good as, IMO, they nerfed the Assault Rifle...literally didn't find a good one through 2+ playthroughs.

    Skill trees are all new and there are some really great ones there...definitely added to the game.

    As always, for me, the loot system is broken. I get that some people just love new loot, but as all new weapons scale to your level, you never keep a weapon more than 1/2 hour.....the Legendary you got at level 10 is worse than a White 5 levels later. Ridonkulous. Grinder is a worthless concept and even worse in practice.

    My last gripe with this company is their Achievements; there are always 2 or 3 mp Achievements thrown in to what is a single player game; they take, literally 15 minutes, to pop all 3...so what's the point??? You have to form a Boosting party to get them as, just 3 months after launch there is no one on....sloppy thinking.....leave that junk for DLC devoted to it.

    ....and stop forcing us to play all characters for several hours or more simply to 100% the game!!!

    Unlike AC, I am not looking forward to the next addition of BL....burnt-out at this point and they would need to something drastically different to rope me back in.    … Expand

    I'm giving the game an 8. It deserves a 7, but for fans of the series this is a fresh update on the combat. I think it's more worth 40 dollars than 60, but its still a good ride. Chest time players should check out the Borderlands 2 dlc bundle first.

    BL The Pre-Sequel isn't a bad game, it's just not what we wanted. If you never played BL 2 you'll like this game. If you have, this game is nothing new and a bad setting.

    I give this game a 5 because its basically Borderlands 2 but done by 2k Australia and although Borderlands 2 was an amazing game i did want a change not the same game. I've played through the campaign and ts pretty much Borderlands 2 so it's not that enjoyable, the characters aren't as good as they were in Borderlands 2, this game all together was an decent game but not worth the money.

    They tried to do too much with this game and they sorta failed. I loved the first Borderlands and the second one was good too. This game... it puts shame on the series.

Whilst some new concepts have been introduced, It essentially runs like a big DLC for Borderlands 2, which may please some and disappoint others. I personally am fairly satisfied with this mentality of "If it ain't broke don't fix it", however I willIf you've been a fan of the Borderlands series, then odds are you're sill going to love this one. However, don't expect any big changes. Whilst some new concepts have been introduced, It essentially runs like a big DLC for Borderlands 2, which may please some and disappoint others. Sure, it has quite a few gimmicky features to try to squeeze new life into the matra of fighting on the **** moon, but it all in all still feels like you are paying for a overpriced DLC of Borderlands 2. The main hype ofWhile Borderlands 1 from Borderlands 2 felt like the difference between night and day, Borderlands 2 to the Pre Sequel feels like the difference between High Noon and 1PM. Sure, it has quite a few gimmicky features to try to squeeze new life into the matra of fighting on the **** moon, but it all in all still feels like you are paying for a overpriced DLC of Borderlands 2. The main hype of this new game was the low gravity, oxygen survival, cryo, and more intimate class character responses related to the quest that they were doing. It does offer all of those things, with some pretty hilarious responses from many of the new classes in regards to their mission, but oxygen ultimately fails at being a prior necessity nor being substantial towards your survival experience, as there are way too many cycle pools, oxygen pits and enemies with oxygen tanks (not that I wouldn't expect that) to actually warrant your concerns for oxygen. As for the story, we get to see the more sympathetic and potentially hero-eclipsing side of "Jack" become the known snarky, sadistic dictator from the Borderlands sequel we all loved to hate, with some surprising amount of subtlety to how Jack became so engrossed in killing the vault hunters as well as how the power got the better of his good intentions. As for the creativity of the classes, this time the classes actually feel like they are in a act of their own, rather than being just major improvements from the previous classes. Nisha's "showdown" action skill will probably be most useful as you can deal massive amounts of damage quite quickly, accurately and with force, but Athena's "Aspis" ability is also useful if you understand the aspects. Wilhelm's dual surveyor bots are helpful, but somewhat echo towards Roland's or Axton's turret like action skills, but Claptrap will no doubt be the most played because of how inexplicably unpredictable his action skill is, as he assumes the role of all other vault hunters up to this point based on the situation around him, which is sometimes not always the good route (I cooped with my friend who got the Psycho die of the action skill when we were primarily shooting at enemies from a distance). Raid Bosses and most enemies seem significantly easier to kill (but still challenging), so if you want to try to go kill some mysterious raid boss it won't be absolutely impossible without a full team to do it and some selective skill point managing. Lazer Weapons are by far going to also be the most used weapon type, as they deal a lot more damage more significantly, especially with how Cryo can render most of your opponents sticks in the mud with sufficient damage. Enemy types are extremely variant, apart from the occasional Stalker and Thresher fights, with even better emphasis on new enemy types than the Big Game Hunt DLC for the previous installment. While I can't say that I didn't get a lot of fun and mileage out of this game, I am definitely aware that the 'new' engine for Borderlands 2 is already starting to show it's age despite only having two installments inheriting it. But perhaps my biggest concern with this game is the noticable attitude of social structures and how most of the characters are blatantly diverse in their sexual orientation. I thought of this as noble in the previous borderlands, but now it's starting to get pretentious in this light. Sure, the game is just poking fun at it because the game is supposed to be silly, but if you make your characters be transsexual or lesbian because you want to give yourself a morality autofellatio because you didn't include any straightforward heterosexual characters, that is undeniably pretentious and the good intentions fly out of the window, much like with Jack's rise to power. not that I don't mind having characters with a rainbow of sexual orientations, but when it's done to the point that they want attention from it, it does become vain and vapid. Apart from that, while I did certainly enjoy the Pre-Sequel of Borderlands, it does have a noticable itch of "still borderlands 2" rather than being a new game in it's own right.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Rushed, bugged, flawed. Terrible game in comparison to it's predecessor BL2 much smaller in duration, generically mostly the same but on a much smaller scale. Typically that freemium game, or a (baelzeebutt game), charging for endless DLC's, or content that should have accompanied that naff original release.

    This time around so many bugged flawed challenges cult of the vault symbols that don't register, encounters don't trip the power cores in lunar landing, boss fights which when played correct for their challenge, don't award Deadlift, Felicity. Grouping is plain awful never for specific quests which require groups, like, as in criteria achievements, always only for the general story mission. A lottery in how the groups progression will affect your own game, taking you to places of where am I skipping content prior etc. Loot was given little thought often so underpowered when progressing and hoping to find items, the quest rewards are for the most part entirely crap. Within group never really gaining uber awards for the same level of accomplishment but just the same crap. Then there is a naff grinder that sometimes puts buttshine on weapons making them mostly worse. Also anybody can duplicate items from glitch at least then gaining legendary items that have been duplicated passed around. They won't help much when one, or single shot to death from grouping with a few others.. None of the vehicle jumps were given any thought they often kill, because they can be air boosted from the jumping player, without the vehicle hitting some insignificantly elevated lump of terrain prior to the point of jump as the vehicle boosts, then it falling into oblivion.

    I had to restart two whole characters because of game error. First time playing around solo killing the story all the way up to Zarpedon the boss dropped only blue items, and the purples were skins, so I decide to group knowing near the end of the game hoping to get something more for my effort. I quick group and some buttwipe is handing in the last boss the sentinel quest as soon as entering group. Restart! Second character creation I spend about half a million credits on a legendary item the only one apart from so naff quest crap I have seen, I group and this item has been deleted from my inventory and was replaced by pre-ordered bonus, starting magnum. My 3rd character creation came across 4 glitched challenges that simply cannot be completed due to game error the rest were completed.

    Athena is probably the only character I enjoyed, having played the other 4, **** was simply annoying, the other 2 were generic tosh, no I'm not buying Jack.

    BL2 was a much better game, this time around as a game it is a generically, pathetic, rushed, air boosted comparison.

    Having 1k' achieved this game now, I knew it was mediocre so my fault for wasting my time with it, but I was playing to pass the time when awaiting a proper game, Inquisition, that is worth it's money.    … Expand

    This is borderlands 2, plain and simple. There are a few tweaks but that is it. If you liked borderlands 2 you will love it! If you hated borderlands 2 you will hate it, it is more of a gigantic uber-DLC than anything!

It still a decently fun experience to be had, but it's too often that you are hearing the same 'trying to be funny' lines over and over again which cuts into what makes these games fun.     1. The graphics are below average for a game released in late 2014. There is no excuse for such poor graphics this late in a consoles life-cycle. They look about the same as Borderlands 2 which was released in 2012. You can tell no effort went into them.
    2. The characters all get on your nerves after spending a little time with them, they all seem to try too hard to be funny and it doesn't really pay off.
    3. The audio is almost identical to Borderlands 2, very little effort has gone into making guns sound different and the soundtrack is forgettable.
    4. Speaking of forgettable, the story is below average as well. Borderlands has never had an amazing story, the first ones was almost non existent while the second really improved the story but it still wasn't amazing. Now we have the Pre-Sequels which is worse than the seconds and only slightly better than the first.
    5. The environments get boring really quick, they are forgettable like the rest of this game. Nothing really blows your mind or makes you say "ooooh that's pretty cool".
    6. The introduction of O2 kits and Oxygen is the worst addition to any game in a long time. It is nothing more than a waste of time to have to worry about your oxygen running out and having to run to a refueling station. The O2 kits are a waste of space in your inventory as well, something much better could have been added with little effort.
    7. The new "butt-slam" feature isn't fun or funny. It is near useless, it often gets you killed in many situations as you are helpless while preforming it and it doesn't do very much damage. Borderlands was better before it had butt-slams.
    8. The game itself has a decent amount of content but compared to the first and second there is a laughable amount of missions. This game is so much shorter than either of the others and has far less to do in it.
    9. The new enemies aren't very original or fun to fight, most are just a nuisance.
    10. All of the new vault hunters have pretty useless action skills, none of them do much that can benefit you. In fact, some of the action skills actually harm you. For example, when playing as Claptrap, don't you dare use his action skill around enemies as you will more than likely get the "funzerker". The funzerker is definitely not fun, it just burns your ammo as you can't stop shooting. I quickly run out of ammo after using it and I stopped using Claptraps action skill mid-game as it did more harm than good.

    If you are new to the Borderlands series, don't start it by buying this one. Start with the first or second as both are much more enjoyable games. This personally is a disgrace to the series and I will most likely never go back to it. I wish it were better as I am a huge Borderlands fan but it's not. If you enjoy the Borderlands series than you might like this one but i'm nearly sure that you won't find it as good as the first or second. It is basically the same as the second one only worse somehow.    … Expand

    Guns - A lot more guns. Lasers have been added which are a nice change. I like that they made Hyperion sniper rifles less difficult to control. The amount of loot to gain is absolutely insane. Thing is, for me, this point is bleh. I don't care about loot as much as I care about skill development, but if you're a loot junkie, this game delivers BIG time. And since that's one of the game's major draws, you should, most likely, be happy with this part. Caveat: A lot of the weapons are the same, snipers, pistols, shotguns etc. So you will be getting a lot of the same too.

    Skills Customization: Better in my opinion. In BL2 I played quite a bit as Zero before having to turn over to other characters because he was a lot more work and time than I had to put into the game. This time I went with Athena cause I like swords and she's a lot better than Zero, and from I've experienced online, even Claptrap's power adds something to the game. Over all I think they did a solid job here. If skill customization was your thing, they made a definite improvement here.

    Gameplay: They added the space jump, which makes the game a little more dynamic, HOWEVER, because they didn't change how you interact with the environment, you may get frustrated with it. Depends on your game play. I do a lot of guerrilla style tactics, and your character still doesn't slide around obstacles easily, so it's EXTREMELY annoying when I'm trying to outmaneuver my enemy and I get stuck by a slight change in elevation and have to jump (and keep in mind you have to moon jump now and butt slam if you want to hurry to the ground and keep from being a floating bullseye). They idn't change a single thing in missions. That can be okay or bad (definitely isn't good as some of the missions make you literal traverse the entire span of a convoluted map to get one thing only to have that thing not be the thing you need and so you have to traverse all that terrain again to finally get what you need) They DID change the speed of your down scope movement, and it's really, really slooooowwww. So if you play the game looking through your weapon sites like me, you'll find yourself heaving your controller up and down and all around to get it to move fast. Most frustrating thing I've ever experienced in a game. Anyone know how to speed it up?

    Story: Like Pirates of the Caribean you shouldn't expect a deep logical storyline. You expect funny dialogue and interaction. Your characters do speak, but their dialogue is poorly done and add to the story in some instance and subtract in others. Each player will decide.

    Combat: For some reasons, it seems like the number of enemies and the rate at which they spawn makes coop almost a necessity if you don't want to feel like you're being punished for daring to be a Lone Wolf. Areas that you killed long ago will suddenly spas enemies while you're fighting a new wave and you'll get killed. So watch your back.

    Score. This game got the score I gave it because a lot of the fixes should have been no brainers, but they chose not to fix them and instead expected gamers to "get over it." Good thing for them my score means JACK SQUAT!!! But at least I get to air my opinion.    … Expand

    More Borderlands for those who want it. It's that simple. It won't be changing anyone's mind on the franchise, but it delivers what it promises to pre-existing fans. I had it pre-ordered, and I am happy with my purchase. Also, the scaling is a major improvement over Borderlands 2, so that's good.

    Gameplay: it's all Borderlands with randomized loot and carnage. With the inclusion of laser weapons, the light show will sometimes occlude the action, but it's usually over before it becomes a annoyance, which sadly is part of the annoyance. While it's nice that the light show doesn't make it impossible to play, for the most part battles will be over rather quickly and seem sparse compared to BL2 action.

    BL1 was able to get away with the desolate atmosphere by having interesting platforming areas that encouraged exploration to find out of the way chests. BL2 had some of this, but usually you were taking fire from 3 sources as you were hunting, while BLPS is a lot of space with few enemies and a system by which the player is discouraged from hunting with a oxygen resource that depletes. To combat this and ensure I wouldn't spite the game for this alone, I played as Clap-Trap's character.

    Unfortunately free exploration without the oxygen bother just exhibits how empty the world is. To that end, the game is less rpg than it's predecessors and would be hard to suggest to any single players out there. Thus if you're not continuously connected to the internet on your console, I'd say BL1 or BL2: GOtY would be a much better investment.

    If you're playing co-op, however, note that this game includes much more co-op friendly skills for your teams to build around, thus it might be a even better time had than the actual sequel. I've read that many players forsake the ground pounding and jumping in favor of using cover, so in this regard co-op plays like BL2 once in a fight.

    Some reviews seemed to have issue with the accents or some of the openly gay characters, but to be honest it didn't even come to my notice. If you've ever watched House and were able to deal with the occasional Aussie slips from one of the characters, you'll hardly notice these in game. As to the relations of the characters, you'll here maybe 3 or 4 lines, but I think they were trying for a joke that I didn't get, either way it's hardly a reason to avoid getting the game.

    Especially when there's a real reason like having to run through entire areas, made desolate by your first pass though, on your way to a out of the way fast travel station. Seriously, 3 loading screens and 5 minutes on a vehicle just to fast travel back to the city is a bit much, repeating it a couple times any you'll just want to quit playing.

    I'd say rent or borrow as you might find yourself wishing you'd invested the $50-60 on the previous titles.    … Expand

    Great game! More borderlands at a good price. Glad it's on the 360 as I haven't upgraded yet. Still loads of 360 games to complete. Been playing Sherlock Holmes, risen 3 and fallout 3 again (for the 3rd time it's that good!) love everything about borderlands universe. Think reviews have been harsher cos there's not a 3 after it.

    this game is awesome, i really enjoy playing this game its borderlands in space! but the game play is what really shines out i thought the low gravity would be a pain turns out it fits the game perfect i love butt slamming guys next is the cast of the game is great i mean there all well written and its always enjoyable to hear

    Ok, maybe not quite as good as Borderlands 2, but a worthy successor nonetheless. The added variety of low gravity and the Oz kits makes for some really interesting battles. Like all the Borderlands series, the game becomes very different with each character you use for playthrough and the skill tree you pursue. That alone will keep me busy until the next DLC comes around. Definitely aOk, maybe not quite as good as Borderlands 2, but a worthy successor nonetheless. The added variety of low gravity and the Oz kits makes for some really interesting battles. Like all the Borderlands series, the game becomes very different with each character you use for playthrough and the skill tree you pursue. That alone will keep me busy until the next DLC comes around. Definitely a "Must Have" game in my opinion. Although I really would have liked this on my new PS4 system.… Expand

    Everyone on the moon is literally gay, the dialogue is so poorly written I cringed through half of it, the enemies seem much less imaginative than Borderlands 2's, and there are a tremendous amount of bugs and glitches that take away what little enjoyment that I had from playing this game. I got my money back.

I can understand an 8, or the critic score of 7.6. That's totally justifiable. However, a 6 is too low, not to mention the 3 and lower scores.     Anyway, this game is just as good as BL2, although in different ways. I'll just list the pros and cons instead of a traditional review.

    Pros:
    -The playable characters are actually part of the story this time. No longer do they remain silent throughout the entire game. They have genuine personalities, shown through cutscenes, banter, comments and by actually responding to NPCs. It adds a whole new depth to the story.
    -Interesting story. Seeing Jack's transformation from the anti-hero to insane villain was great.
    -Better gameplay. Tons of improvements have been made to the Borderlands formula. Front and foremost is the low gravity and oz kits, which adds a whole new dimension to combat. Other improvements include useful vending machines, the grinder, cryo and laser guns, fun boss fights (especially the last one), and fantastic characters and skill-trees. Nisha has been my favorite Vault Hunter from all three games.
    -Music. Very well done, possibly the best in the series (besides Dragon Keep, of course).
    -Hovering vehicles!
    -Well designed and fun environments.

    Cons:
    -New characters are mostly uninteresting or forgettable. That being said, most important characters are returning from older games.
    -Turning quests in is still a thing. Just give us the rewards when we complete the task. No wasting time running mindlessly around a huge map.
    -Second Wind system still exists. No one has ever liked it. We need a new solution for self-reviving.
    -That damn jet boss fight near the end is horribly designed and very frustrating.
    -Pay-wall for Shift features. This is extremely stupid.

    Despite the few flaws, this game is essentially a full game sized expansion. Which, contrary to beliefs of trolls on the internet, is still high quality and worth full price. There's so much new content here that I'll be playing this one for 300+ hours, just like I did with BL2.    … Expand

Fun shooter with a lot more Humor than the previous games, and some people call it a "dlc", though i, after doing all of the side quests on the first play through, logged 42 hours in.     I have been playing borderlands since the first one came out and haven't been disappointed since. With the third instalment into the series i have noticed some significant changes and i think 2k Australia has really convinced me that they can make an awesome borderlands game.

    This is essentially borderlands 2, with new characters and story. it wraps up a lot of questions from borderlands 2. it is still a very deep and fun rpg/fps, it does occasionally get a little repetitive but over all its fun game, fans of the series will feel right at home.

    Borderlands the pre sequel I found to be an enjoyable game, the shooting is wonderful, the loot is vast, and all around I loved the story which tells how the villain of borderlands 2 (handsome jack) came to power, it's got comedy in its writing that had me laugh quiet a few times, and the new weapon element (cryo or freeze weapons) and laser weapons were great additions to the series. I also loved the addition of the oz kit's, since you're on pandora's moon, elpis, there's no oxygen to breath, so your character must use oz kits to breath and perform new actions such as the double jump and "butt" slam. The four new character classes that released with the game are all unique enough from each other to give fans of the game a reason to play through more than once, and for those that want to beat the game with an old character again, there's always new game plus, a second play through with all your gear and skills kept from the previous play through, also it incorporates better loot and some new enemy varieties. The games music is decent, there were a couple good tracks, but largely I found it unmemorable in the sound department (besides the good voice acting). Finally I found a few flaws with the game, for one, a new addition to the game, the grinder machine, I found to be a smaller part of the experience than I would have hoped. Also among the games flaws are a couple glitches here and there, my game froze once or twice forcing me to reset, and I once butt slammed an enemy through the ground, where I couldn't kill him, but he could still hurt me, now these glitches really didn't deteriate from my experience, they were more of minor annoyances. Over all if you're a fan of the borderlands franchise then I'd highly recommend getting this game, if you've never played borderlands before, it's still a fun shooter worth your time, if you didn't like borderlands in the first place, then this will not change your mind, so don't bother.… Expand

    From what I've played I've enjoyed it. Story isn't anything that deep, but has lots of exciting explosions. I tend to just play it and turn off, picking random quests and unwinding in some good old fashion killing. Plus who doesn't like a bit of 0 g's.

    If you like the series, you'll enjoy this title. Where it's nothing new, it still gets everything right in all the good spots.

Un jeu passablement divertissant ou moyennement relou, un jeu passable en somme auquel on a juste envie de dire : "t'es gentil le petit nouveau, mais les pieds-tendres dans ton genre, il faudrait pas qu'ils s'éternisent en ville... c'est mauvais pour les affaires."

    Mais au lieu de se carapater gentiment et de plus y revenir, le Berdel-lands est revenu régulièrement avec ses copains et ses suites... et même la pré-suite d'avant ! qui se passe ici sur une lune à faible gravité (ololol saute, saute Forrest !) et surtout sans oxygène juste pour te casser les... pieds. La mobilité s'en trouve du coup très altérée et fort désagréable, de refuge en refuge et ainsi de suite...

    Le ton général est encore plus débilos que d'habitude et le farmage à prevoir encore plus inquiétant... c'est aussi dans l'ensemble plus moche que de coutume, la faute à un manque de goût très constant. Bref, ce méchant Bordel nous les casse donc beaucoup trop pour qu'on ne s'en débarrasse pas illico presto d'un bon coup de pied au cul pour le satelliser en orbite basse... où, on s'en doute, il n'arrêtera pas de tourner...    … Expand

    We expect good gunplay and loot from a Borderlands game, and we still got that with The Pre-Sequel. But by expecting a little more, we seem to have set ourselves up for disappointment. Strewth.
