Continuum Shift provides a seamless fighting game experience by offering excellent Tutorial and Training Modes to help you learn your character before testing their skills in the game's near-flawless online mode.
-
An excellent fighter for both fighting amateurs and steeled veterans. The numerous tutorials, challenges, and inclusion of the Beginner's Mode will help newcomers, while the deep fighting system will keep fighting fans busy.
-
Jan 5, 2011One of the absolute best fighting games on the market, catering to button-mashers and league competitors alike.
-
Dec 22, 2010If you liked Calamity Trigger, Continuum Shift offers the same style, but polished to the extreme refinement.
-
Jan 10, 2011Continuum Shift shows all the great experience of Arc System Works in the beat'em'up genre. New fighters in a well designed roster, new modes, new locations and useful options for beginners add new weapon to a brand with solid, deep and satisfiing gameplay. One of the best bidimensional beat'em'up of all times.

games(TM)Jan 20, 2011It's only let down by a lack of fresh blood, but in terms of where the hammer falls, it still bangs the nail in cleanly. [Issue#102, p.117]
-
Dec 29, 2010BlazBlue: Continuum Shift is a great fighting game. Arc System Works did a great job to resolve all the Calamity Trigger's problems, and the result is a perfect game for those loving complex mechanics and fast paced combats.
-
X-ONE Magazine UKDec 24, 2010It's a sublime alternative to Street Fighter and worth investing in even if you've got the original. [Issue#65, p.90]
-
Xbox World 360 Magazine UKDec 24, 2010This is hardcore fighting perfection, given a light polish. One for Fighter fans bored of SFIV. [Issue#98, p.88]
-
Dec 22, 2010It'll teach you things, broaden your horizons, and give you a damn good time; think of it as the Mrs Robinson to your brawling Benjamin Braddock. As Taokaka might say, meow can you resist?
-
If you loved the original there is enough here to replace your copy of the first game, and if you passed the first time around there has never been a better time to dive in.
-
Continuum Shift improves on Calamity Trigger in every way, and it's undoubtedly one of the best fighting games available; it oozes style, incorporates some truly radical ideas into its gameplay and sports a level of polish not always seen in fighting games.
-
At only $40, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift offers an astonishingly deep fighting experience and a huge amount of content.
-
Feb 23, 2011An argument could be made that Continuum Shift only offers true value to those who missed out on the 360 release of BlazBlue the first time around.
-
Dec 22, 2010BlazBlue: Continuum Shift is a fantastic sequel to BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, and it's easily one of the best fighting games of this console generation.
-
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift is a worthy upgrade from Calamity Trigger, and is probably the best fighter on the market for catering to casual and competitive players alike. Here's hoping a new version isn't announced in two months.
-
New characters, stages, modes, and story are just some of the reasons why BlazBlue fans should consider dropping the money on this "sequel."
-
Games Master UKDec 24, 2010A fine fighter but with few new features you'd be forgiven for experiencing deja vu. [Issue#232, p.76]
-
The forty-plus hour new story mode, plus the new bonus modes and characters give fans a lot to play with. Beginner mode makes it easy for newcomers to jump right into BlazBlue.
-
Continuum Shift is certainly a superior version of Calamity Trigger. It's a unique fighting game.
-
In the end, the biggest strike against Continuum Shift is that it remains in the shadow of Super Street Fighter IV, much as its predecessor did last year in relation to that game's initial release.
-
Jan 6, 2011While it may initially feel wildly different than other stables in the genre, the combat system of Blazblue: Continuum Shift quickly reveals itself to be logical, intuitive and in possesion of enormous depth. The mix of 2D fighters and 3D backgrounds is a little jarring, but otherwise Blazblue is a rock-solid fighter that plays as well as the household names.
-
Dec 24, 2010No need to Argue, Continuum Shift is a real gem, like its predecessor was. Its 2D visuals are more impressive than ever, is gameplay modes comprehensive, its characters unique and the changes they went through balanced the game enough to make it one of the top fighting games on HD consoles. Even the Online Versus play has been enhanced, and is now more comfortable, with solo play in-between duels like in SSFIV. Last but not least, BBCS has tutorial modes and a system to ease some combos, to ease in newcomers and make it more accessible.
-
Official Xbox Magazine UKDec 24, 2010It's not as technically demanding as Street Fighter IV, and feels like a more free-flowing, mobile, nimble fighter in comparison. [Issue#66, p.99]
-
For established players, the additional characters will likely be the main draw, but Continuum Shift's greatest strength lies in its ability to teach newcomers the ropes through its wealth of applicable tutorials that go way beyond what I've seen in other fighters.
-
New characters, modes, and gameplay refinements make Continuum Shift the best version of this great 2D fighting game.
-
A fantastic and fun fighter this is, anyone looking for a distinctly Japanese and over-the-top fighting game will want to check this out.
-
Though there aren't that many new characters, they're a worthy addition to the lineup. Many of the new ideas and modes outside of the core gameplay fall flat - Tutorial is a great idea with some presentation issues - but the refinements to the combat ensure that BlazBlue is the slickest hyper-kinetic 2D fighter this side of Marvel vs. Capcom 3. And yes, the music is still awesome.
-
Official Xbox MagazineNevertheless, at it's reduced price, Continuum Shift is undoubtedly the definitive version for newbies and vets alike. [Oct 2010, p.77]
-
As a follow-up to one of the most innovative and accomplished 2D fighters in recent years, Continuum Shift is a worthy successor which refines the BlazBlue formula.
-
Apr 25, 2011The plot is thinly spread like a small knob of butter over a whole loaf of bread and the rigorous tedium of slaving through hours on end would drive the best of us to an enraged psychosis. Local multiplayer, however, is always a nice touch and if you've got some friends who are fans of virtual brawling, slip in the disk and prepare for a more subdued form of Fight Club to make its nest in your front room.
-
Everyeye.itJan 3, 2011Contiinum Shift is what BlazBlue had to be since its release: well balanced, equipped with a full scale roster and with an enhanced move set. Unfortunately there's a lot of deja vu in playing the game that can't figure this second iteration as one of the best fight games of this gen.
