May 13, 2011Taken in the recommended small doses, there's tons of play value in this 800 MS point title. Fans of classic shooters shouldn't pass up this opportunity to play one of the looniest and best examples of the genre.
-
Jun 29, 2011Another classic from Treasure and a game that hardcore fans shouldn't miss at any cost.
-
May 5, 2011Absolutely. Bangai-O is similar, but not quite like a typical arcade-style "bullet hell" shooter, since you have more effective ways of fighting back. So if that brand of insanity doesn't appeal to you, perhaps Bangai-O's will. Not to mention that it's better and cheaper than its DS predecessor.
-
May 5, 2011A superb action puzzle hybrid that works much better on the Xbox 360 than it did on the DS, making it one of Treasure's best ever games.
-
May 13, 2011A bullet-hell shooter for those who really love bullet-hell shooters, and even more so for those who can enjoy a good one on occasion.
-
May 30, 2011At 800 Microsoft points, Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury is an absolute steal, and anyone looking for a solid action-packed shmup, or just a good time filled to the brim with explosions, would be remiss to not give it a good, hard look.
-
May 16, 2011A hell of bullets and perfect old style gameplay that for 800 MS Points you don't want to miss.
-
May 12, 2011One of the best shooters available on XBLA, by far.
-
May 5, 2011The game is confusing, and hectic, more so than other Treasure shooters, but it's also one of the funnest bullet hell (missile hell? Laser hell? Soccer ball hell?) shoots I've ever played.
-
May 11, 2011The challenge is pretty high, but the sense of accomplishment you get from finally figuring out a level is great.
-
Jul 3, 2011Reveals that the series can be both a chaotic toy box and a lattice of fantastical set-pieces that unfold meaningfully. [July 2011, p.126]
-
Jun 1, 2011Bangai-o HD: Missile Fury is the best version of the Treasure classic. The combination of perfect controls and awesome gameplay creates a fantastic experience for every hardcore gamers out there. The lack of the offline multiplayer and the problems of the net-code during the online co-op are a shame, and partially ruin this masterpiece.
-
May 27, 2011This is a great shoot'em up but only recommended for hardcore fans of the genre. Its difficulty is insane, and although very satisfying when we overcome a level, it is frustrating most of the time.
-
May 26, 2011Even with the occasional framerate drops(particularly in co-op games), the sheer number of levels plus a deep level editor will keep hardcore shmup fans puzzling their way through for ages. [July 2011, p.79]
-
May 25, 2011Shmups are hardcore enough, but Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury somehow feels like a niche unto itself. At least death is served up à la carte, so you can move between stages at will if you die three times.
-
May 6, 2011Offers a smorgasbord of treats to delight and infuriate in almost equal measure. The mean, almost contemptuous difficulty curve is something that shouldn't be celebrated, but almost everything else is golden.
-
May 11, 2011Bangai-O superfans have a lot to chew on here and should enjoy the many challenges, but others should think twice.
-
May 26, 2011Calling this game difficult is a massive understatement. But that doesn't mean you should pass this one up. Anyone looking for a challenge will not be disappointed with Bangai-O HD: Missle Fury.
-
May 10, 2011Bangai-O's transition to HD results in a frantic, challenging shooter with an agreeable price.
-
May 12, 2011Despite a few drawbacks Bangai-O HD is a fun, chaotic experience that is aimed at the hardcore shooter crowd.

X-ONE Magazine UKJul 25, 2011It's one original offering. [Issue#74, p.100]
-
Jul 20, 2011Treasure offers another Xbox Live Arcade remake of one of its former glory, after Ikaruga and waiting Radiant Silvergun. Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury adds some interesting options such as co-op, revise the control system experiencing Geometry Wars double-stick and enhances the level editor. On balance, however, this remake proves difficult for novices with its rather steep difficulty curve, while those who have already fleeced on Dreamcast or Nintendo DS will hardly muster the impetus necessary for another take.
-
games(TM)Jul 3, 2011A patchy but occasionally outstanding oddity. [Issue#110, p.132]
-
Jun 13, 2011Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury is colorful, loud and fast-paced. Either you love this kind of game or you hate it. Very nice to see an editor in such a game.
-
May 12, 2011If videogames are systems of learning, then Bangai-O is a scatterbrained professor teaching advanced calculus.
-
May 6, 2011Quotation forthcoming.
-
Jun 28, 2011Difficulty levels will turn away nearly everyone.
