Jul 8, 2011Backbreaker Vengeance is so far from a sim, it's hard to say any given gamer couldn't enjoy it, no matter their tastes.
-
Xbox World 360 Magazine UKAug 15, 2011Like Burnout with balls, it's a blast. [Oct 2011, p.105]
-
Jul 12, 2011It's the perfect arcade title – quick gameplay, insta-restarts and fun multiplayer. When it's showing you failure in slow motion, you can't help but laugh. Squeezing through a gap, dodging multiple people only to showboat across the line, is a fantastic feeling.
-
Jul 5, 2011While it's a bit pricey for what it offers, Backbreaker Vengeance is football at its most enjoyable, basic level. If you're a football fan who can accept this game for what it is as opposed to what it's not, you're sure to have fun with it.
-
Jul 24, 2011At 1200 Microsoft points, though, Backbreaker Vengeance feels a little pricey for what's offered. Give the free demo a shot, but don't be surprised if you end up purchasing it later.
-
Jul 13, 2011Visually, the game packs a solid punch with the Euphoria physics engine as the highlight of the package.
-
Jul 11, 2011The American football game for those who don't like American football, as it rules out simulation in favor of an arcade obstacle course. Its price might be a bit too high considering its roots as an iPhone game, but this is pure fun while it lasts.
-
Jul 10, 2011To only play the game on your own would be dull, and at best somewhat tiresome. Playing with another person comes recommended; it's much more fun.
-
Jul 7, 2011In this arcade iteration of the brand, Backbreaker works better than in the previous retail version. Reinventing itself (starting from some peculiar game modes) the title can be a good way to cheer up this poor gaming summer.
-
Jul 3, 2011Backbreaker doesn't do anything wrong as such and it seems to tick all the right boxes, it just feels a little flat as a package, it will be played for a good solid period then will likely be forgotten about as newer titles come out. You'd be foolish to not even give this game look though.
-
Jul 1, 2011A step in the right direction. The first Backbreaker struggled with the central mechanics (although a post-release patch worked wonders). The second game only really struggles with the over-optimistic pricing... Next time out, then, we should be in for something special.
-
Jul 6, 2011A frenetic, simple and very arcadey simulation of american football. Price could be more affordable, and the package is pretty limited.
-
Jun 30, 2011Realistic animations and a satisfying two-player mode make Backbreaker: Vengeance fun for a while, but that quickly fades away.
-
Jul 29, 2011Backbreaker Vengeance is very entertaining and lasts quite a while, but is far too lacking in content for a game that costs 1200 MS Points.
-
Jul 12, 2011Although a bit expensive, it is a fun and addictive game, although it can get repetitive soon.
-
Jul 11, 2011It's fun as a distraction for a while, and there's a lot of content, but $15 is too much to pay for a simple minigame collection.
-
Jul 11, 2011Backbreaker Vengeance has interesting ideas, but problems are bigger than the good things. The awful lag during the online matches and the slow controls are quite a problem for such a good arcade gameplay.
-
Jun 30, 2011Provides a few rounds of fun, but the control problems, price point, and lack of variety and real football stand as glaring indicators that this experience probably should have stayed on a mobile platform.
-
Jun 23, 2011As a cheap, on-the-go timewaster, this game might work. But at $1[5], forget it. [Aug 2011, p.83]
