Jun 22, 2012Babel Rising is a solid buy, through and through...as long as you're not expecting a solid Kinect experience.
-
Jun 17, 2012This isn't a bad game at all, but its relatively low score is more a reflection of how much gaming bang you get for your buck. It's just not quite worth the ten dollars it costs on XBLA-especially considering you can get pretty much the same game for five on Google Play. Babel Rising is mostly saved by its multiplayer options.
-
Jun 15, 2012Cool concept and good ideas, but Babel Rising doesn't deliver any long-term enjoyment.
-
X-ONE Magazine UKJul 26, 2012A short-lived blast that doesn't quite get to grips with Microsoft's Kinect sensor. [Issue#87, p.89]
-
Jul 5, 2012At $10, the price is fine, but if you enjoyed the demo, it would be best to wait for this to go on sale.
-
Jun 27, 2012If a game works on the phone it doesn't have to work on console, and this is a good example of that. It still gets repetitive and monotonous, and doesn't offer anything really exciting.
-
Jun 13, 2012Babel Rising doesn't rise to the level that you might hope for from a game with such a cool concept.
-
Jun 18, 2012Overall this game is a great concept, but considering it is supposed to be Kinect focused it did not succeed. The majority of the time I spent playing was with a controller. The motion controls did not work well enough, and no doubt if they were more precise, I would be giving it a better score. Perhaps with a future update, the game will function as intended, be less frustrating and more fun.

Jun 14, 2012There aren't many God simulators out on the market anymore, and the simplistic nature of the game easily could have swayed a ton of new potential fans. Unfortunately, the package is fairly bare bones, and doesn't really deliver any long-term enjoyment. If you buy this, be prepared to turn the other cheek.
-
Jun 13, 2012A lightly entertaining diversion - but only when played with a controller. The optional Kinect controls can be extremely fussy: using your right hand to aim the reticle works okay, but triggering spells with your left hand often requires multiple exaggerated movements. Having to flail around to launch even the simplest attack is the very opposite of god-like.
-
Games Master UKJul 24, 2012Incredibly simplistic, it works poorly with a pad and grows tiresome all too quickly. [Sept 2012, p.101]
-
Oct 9, 2012Not everything turns out to be as good it should: Babel Rising is a really good game on the iOS/Mobile environment, but loses part of its spirit in its consoles version. With a boring and linear gameplay and an insufficient Kinect control-schema, it represents a missed chance in XBLA market.
-
Aug 20, 2012Babel Rising is a way too short and repetitive, with little to offer to the gamer.
-
Jul 3, 2012Babel Rising has an interesting concept that never really comes to fruition. With only fifteen levels and a lack of online play, Babel Rising never even comes close to reaching the heavens.
-
Jun 20, 2012Ultimately, Babel Rising is an interesting concept that will fail to hold your interest for very long. It is a game that is a small package without much to offer, and it doesn't really deliver any long-term enjoyment.
-
Jun 14, 2012As a creative take on the "Tower Defense" principle, this "Tower Prevention" simply doesn't work out.
-
Jun 15, 2012Babel Rising is an unfortunate mix of interesting mechanics and poor design. It's fun in fits and starts, but finishing a level yields a sense of relief rather than achievement. Count us among the non-believers.
-
Jun 19, 2012The game feels more like a web browser game than a console feature.
-
Jun 17, 2012Babel Rising may have a following on mobile devices, but the gameplay and presentation just don't translate well to a gaming console.
-
Jun 13, 2012Babel Rising has a seed of a good idea, but someone got the wrong element, and instead of watering that seed, they blew it.
-
Jun 18, 2012Even though I saw serious potential for the game to be fun, I lost interest with it barely a half hour in.
-
Jun 21, 2012Sadly, too often your powers feel anything but godly.
