Its a cool game...just too slow and linear...too much fetch questing between dungeons...but other than that pretty good.
Motion controls are great, unlike the general consensus that they're crap because the E3 demo screwed up...

The motion controls work, the story is good, and the dungeons are good. The sky could have had more things to do in it, and some of the islands should have been in Skyloft (The pumpkin area and the Bamboo cutting mini game) and Fi could have been less annoying. She also could have had more personality.

The games feel, graphics and design is just beautiful to play it feels so fresh and vibrant as if it where a HD game. Such a relaxing feeling i have when walking in skyloft. The soundtrack throughout the whole game is just amazing leading me to go watch a live orchestra of Zelda. Great game to the series hope to see other unique Zelda games in the future.

Definitely my favorite game of all time. Probably the best example of the Wii's motion controls (It sometimes didn't work when I was randomly thrashing my remote around). The art style is beautiful, a cross between the realistic style of Twilight Princess and the Toon style of Wind Waker, making its own unique art style in which the surroundings can make you feel emotions, not only happiness, but also when it comes to it genuine fear. However, the game has some flaws. You can not explore any part of the world other than Skyloft at night and there is no Daylight Cycle as a result of this. Also the three regions feel disconnected from each other and the sky feels very empty and lonesome. Apart from this, this is one of the best titles in the series and although the story and gameplay feel a bit more guided than other entries it is a fantastic game which marks a turning point in the Zelda series and shows that Nintendo are not afraid to stray from tradition and this will help to keep the Zelda franchise as good as it is today. Nintendo tried something new with Zelda, and sometimes it worked out great, but other times, it came out a little clunky.

This breaks the ethereal experience of the game. Flying high through the clouds, diving into the unknown and conquering the challenges you face.

The game's design is as many critics have noted, like watercolors. I especially loved the desert and forest regions of the game and the way water shimmered. I didn't really enjoy the near-sightedness of the game though. I can understand why, but there's a reason why I wear contacts.

Furthermore, using Fi as a tracker for treasures and goodies, feels like a cheap cut around for exploration. Still, it's a great game, and hopefully, Nintendo can take the lessons and move forward on the Wii U.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. WARNING: OPINIONS INBOUND!!!!!
I feel that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, is a game that is underrated by the community, but I can see where they're coming from, I admit that Fi got on my nerves at points, I admit that the game held my hand a little too much throughout, etc. etc. But, I still felt that I went on a grand adventure. First off, the art style, I think that, for the Wii, this game is gorgeous, though there are some little issues, such as the 2D leaves in the Faron Woods, and some low-quality textures here and there, but with those issues aside, this game looks great, the art style is rich and full of colour, I feel that it gives the game personality that some Zelda games lack, now on to something that equates to little more that a nice visual touch; The facial animations on the characters. These facial animations give the characters far more personality than most Zelda games give them, I have not seen Link have so much personality since Majora's Mask...
Without spoiling too much, the story is coherent enough for it to work, but it is unbelievably simple, even though the typical "Princess is Kidnapped" storyline doesn't kick in until near the end game, it still is something that is far too overdone.
Now on to the most important aspect of the game; The gameplay, the gameplay is great, but not everything that Nintendo promised (Lesson learnt; Don't raise your expectations). Ground movement works fine, if a bit clunky at points, the flight, on the other hand... I don't know if my WiiMote Plus was misaligned, but I found the Loftwing insanely difficult to control, diving when I was pinting directly at the screen, turning to the left when I was tilting to the right, the boost makes it insanely hard to steer etc. In short, flawed, almost to the point where I would consider it broken. Skydiving is clunky, I don't see why Nintendo would push motion controls so far into our faces that our skulls burst out through the back of our heads, when they are rarely good, having to tilt the WiiMote to shift your weight when skydiving does not work as well as one would expect, the first skydiving mission was a pain because of this. Every item in this game uses the Wii's motion controls in one way or another, some better than others, but they are all fairly solid. Swordplay and general combat are easily the most polished parts of this game,in previous titles, all you had to do was walk up to an enemy and hit it before it hit you, in Skyward Sword, most enemies have a way of defending themselves, turning %75 of enemy encounters into short little puzzles, though this can get repetitive.
In short, this is not my favourite Zelda game, but it is a close second, being beaten out by Twilight Princess, but that is for another time.
Gamers, critics and other users of the internet, I bid you farewell.
(P.S. I do not agree with rating systems, I am only giving this game a rating because Metacritic won't let me leave this review unless I give it a review, I feel rating systems are generally useless, and I feel that the text I have put before you will be sufficient, unless you are an illiterate cretin, in which case: GAME GOOD, GET GAME, GOOD TIME)

First of all, let me talk about the controls. They are just awesome, immersive and create a lot of possibilites. But they aren't flawless. It's stressfull the number of times the control fails when trying to do a Skyward Strike and some normal strikes also are performed in a different direction than they are supposed. But the second happens only a few times. So, for this individual section, I give a 9/10. because even with the flaws, the control scheme adds TOO MUCH for the overall experience.

Now, the graphics: Innovative, just awesome, fit perfectly the gameplay and control schemes and the wii capacities. Skyloft is gorgeous, Zelda is cute and characters are very expressive. 10/10.

The music is awesome, nice to who likes to "trip" while playing, the song from Isle of Songs and Fi's theme, when played at it's original environment, just really move with your mental state. 10/10.

Gameplay: The dungeons are incredible and open areas look like biggest dungeons. The flow of the game is awesome, and it has some "different" parts to break the repetition. The upgrade system with treasure and bugs near doubled the experience. It have some sidequests, but it lacks a lot on exploration. 9,5/10.

Story: Beautiful, made me cry. Full of details and deep charachters. 10/10

Overall 10/10. Awesome, one of the best games on the series. I preffer a darker atmosphere on a Zelda game, and I like the exploration of game's like ALTTP (which is the best game on the series, and the best game I ever played so far), but this games brings SO MUCH in gameplay, music, graphics and story, that combined they make the greatest experience I ever had in a post SNES console. The second greatest game I EVER played.

Skyward Sword has a really good story that explains the origins of Link, Zelda and Ganondorf and has probably one of the best ensemble of characters in a Zelda game. The game also has the most like-able Zelda in a Zelda game since probably Wind Waker. You ACTUALLY care if you save Zelda this time and that is a huge plus considering the series is called The Legend of ZELDA. Ghirahim is an awesome villain. His eccentric movements and attitude make him very fun to watch and when he has to fight, he can fight. Groose is actually a very good supporting character as he grows and becomes more mature as the game goes on. Fi is one of the worst sidekicks Link has had, but she is a very good character when it comes to story.

The gameplay is Motion-Control Zelda. The controls work great. It isn't perfect, but it never seemed to interrupt my experience with game. The dungeons are extremely well done and designed (The Sandship is one of the best dungeons in a Zelda game) and the bosses are awesome (Koloktos). The visuals are beautiful and the soundtrack is excellent.

The game however suffers when it comes to exploration and even though you can go wherever you want, there is nothing worth finding and the landmarks you go to are very small. The Sky is big and large, but you have to go down to land to make it worth exploring by finding certain blocks. Some of the fetch quests are very annoying and makes certain levels drag out far more then one would think. The Imprisoned really could have been shortened down to 2 fights instead of 3.

Skyward Sword is an amazing game and one that gets a lot of hate for no reason. If you have a Wii, there is no reason not to pick this up as it's worth every penny. It's shortcomings are very minute in comparison to the rest of the game and it's something you definitely should have in your library. It is one of the those games you need to play for yourself to see if you love or hate the game.

Now, imagine the button was pressed, and it only worked 19 out 20 times. That's completely unacceptable, and that's how the controls feel in Skyward Sword. They work most of the time, which is probably why the game starts you out with 6 hearts and not the classic 3 hearts. Also, another weak point is your companion in the game, Fi. She is very robotic and has no emotion whatsoever. Midna was an excellent companion with great lines, facial expressions, and overall deliverance. Fi is just there and doesn't impact the story that much. Overall, great game with some nuisances. If you want the game, buy it. Also, the game usually comes with a symphonic CD of remixes and medleys of the series. Expand

And bosses? They are just terrific. Maybe little more difficult than other Zeldas, but they make up with design and gimmicks. Absolutely not comparable to modern **** like seen in BoTW. I recall recent fight with ancient automaton - I had goosebumps when I thought he is defeated and instead he suddenly stand and I had to quickly figure out how to defeat him using his giant swords. Music is awesome, story is typical Zelda (like always). Motion controls in general adds cooler reception. Thanks to this, fights with bosses are much deeper and more gimmicky. Which leaves you with "wow, that was awesome" experience. Controls might look chaotic in the beginning if you don't learn how to swing your sword, but when you do, it gives you more fun than without it. But in general you know what? Skyward Sword works well with the wii motion plus. The combat is not mindless button pressing or waiting for openings as it has been in previous Zeldas. Just as Twilight Princess and Wind Waker offered a secondary means to engage the player in battle so does Skyward Sword by turning all enemies into mini puzzles. By doing this, each encounter and enemy is different and brings a different threat. Bokoblins that have shock sticks are more dangerous to attack without caution then those with wooden sticks. Giant Moblins with steel shields cannot be aggro'd like their wooden shield brother's by breaking their shields as the steel shields cannot be broken by the sword. Though timing is not gone thought, blocking no longer is simply holding a button. It now requires timing to use successfully and without damaging your shield. By giving shields a health bar, the player must also be mindful with blocking too. By allowing the player to fully interact with their enemy instead of pressing a with openings allows for the player to feel directly connected with the combat. Also by making combat more puzzle oriented instead of simple button pressing, the combat feels much more mindful and deliberate. Now there are flaws with this system, it is very slow compared to earlier Zeldas. The player cannot get the same flashy combos as in previous games and cannot dispatch enemies so easily as before. And for fans of having very fluid combat, this more slow-paced but mindful puzzle combat might be tedious.

Exploration is Skyward Sword's weakest aspect as the game is very linear. While you can explore within the set paths to temples and areas, their isn't much blowing up holes and finding secrets as in previous games. However, the game world does feel more cohesive in comparison unlike the very empty worlds of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, which had very compact areas of secrets and treasures with large swaths of nothing. Both types of world and exploration has their charms but also their flaws, so if you really enjoyed the random searches in those previous games, the secrets in Skyward Sword will be a bit on the easy side for you.

The music is beautiful as always with some nice homages hidden in some songs and the story is fabulous with some of the best character building in the series to date. Skyward Sword is undoubtedly, in my humble opinion, one of the greatest Zeldas to date. It is a wonderful game that offers a wonderful experience.

The motion controls are the best that the Wii has to offer and it executes perfectly your WiiMotePlus movements and Link's sword movements are a perfect 1:1 relationship. The dungeons are the best that the series has to offer, everyone of them is a joy to travel trough and none of them were a chore, tedious, or down-right frustrating. (OOT: Water and Forest Temple, MM: Great Bay Temple, TP: City in the Sky) It's linear design will turn off the explorative type of player, and Fi (your partner) can get a little annoying every now and then, but those are very small negatives from what is overall a masterpiece!
This, in my view, is the best 3D Zelda game ever made!

I agree tht t took som getting use to but when you or at least when i did i truly felt that i was the great hero who was send on a questwielding the skyward sword in my hand. i know some might think that this game had no exploration which might be true i didnt really bother me cause i was so driven by chaacters cool gameplay and a fatastic story. Also i think that the way they made the game by not only focussing on dungeons but also the land sorrunding them was fantastic and made me explore a far more great area than just a dungeon.

I also really liked the side mission which made me learn a lot more about some of the best charecters the zelda series had to offer while taking me on quest which were generally exciting and made me explore.

The puzzels in this are also fantastic made so they're not cheap (so you ge stuck and) but stil quite interestin/demanding of the player.

The places you wentwere also amazing and place were unique which made you feel like you were treversing great distances and added to the feeling that you were and a epic journe.

It always felt like i was on an adventure which is what i want from a zelda game and i never felt frustrated in this game it always made me want to keep going because of all the things i ave listed. I really love this game and i get a feeling playing this game which none other can recreate. I even like this game more than ocarina of time a lot more actually, this game is truly a masterpiece.

Sure, the lack of anti-aliasing is fairly obvious, overall, I am willing to overlook this because everything looks so darn beautiful. More importantly, the art direction is fantastic. The sound is what you come to expect from the big N, perfect. It gets better and better with each generation. Some really nice orchestral pieces really add to the atmosphere. The story is fairly well written and serves as the linchpin for the entire series, good twist at the end too! I struggle to understand how you could rate this game a zero. The game is beautiful, with a graphic finish reminiscent of a watercolor. We will explore different worlds with the usual scenarios of the saga, forests, volcanoes, ice, intricate dungeons ... so far so good, a game of outstanding, but it has an important ballast from which you can not get rid ... control

With the new idea of the Wii control, nintendo forces you to play with the motion plus features, if you don't have it by default in the wiimote you must buy it. Personally, I'm too classical a player and I think this adventure would gain a lot of ground with a controller like the ones we've had all our lives. It's a real shame that you're forced to pretend you're holding a sword or a shield in order to enjoy this great game, so the note is no greater.

Nintendo should at least give the player a choice. Not force him to play the way the company wants him to.

I really liked the implementation of motion controls here, as it makes all the fights feel like little puzzles that require more thought and perhaps more skill than is normally required in combat.

My main issue with Skyward Sword is it's pacing - too much of the game feels formulaic and almost like a chore. Its structure is too rigid at times, and the backtracking doesn't help the flow of the game. Thankfully, BOTW avoids this game's pacing issues in my eyes by doing away with the restrictive linearity that hurt Skyward Sword. So, even if it is an issue here, it's good to know that the developers went in a different direction for the next 3D Zelda.

Despite the pacing and some filler content, there's a lot to love here. Zelda, Groose, Fi and Impa are all great characters and I was pleasantly surprised to see them go through character arcs that really fleshed them out. Ghirahim is an entertaining villain, and getting to see Demise and the beginning of the Zelda mythology is a treat. There's some really good music too, like Fi's Gratitude, Ballad of the Goddess and Ghirahim's Theme.

Other than the motion controls, the gameplay is pretty standard fare for a Zelda game, so although Skyward Sword doesn't radically improve on the Zelda formula, it is still very fun on the whole. If you've played and enjoyed a Zelda game before, there's a good chance you'll like this one too.

Skyward Sword is a must play for Zelda fans, and a great game overall. It has a couple of drawbacks, but they don't stop it from being a fun and memorable experience.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword is an amazing game with beautiful locations and an amazing art style. Skyward Sword has an amazing story which focuses on the creation of the master sword and the origins of the Zelda series. The game is linear yet what the game gives you to explore is very excellent and colourful. The temples in this game are also top-notch with the Ancient Cistern and the Sandship considered by many to be some of the best in the series. The game has a great rivalry between Link and Giriham who is the main villain you will see throughout the game. He is a character with a great personality. The game has unique controls that are very fun once you get the hang of them. Most complaints about this game are usually focused on your partner Fi, who can be annoying yet helpful for new players. Another popular complaint is that the game is repetitive. While I won't disagree that you have to go to the same areas multiple times or fight a certain boss (the imprisoned) many times I think the game handles this well apart from the imprisoned battles which can be annoying. Each time you return to one of the three provinces you will be doing something different. For example, in the forest, you will have to first find and rescue a group of plant-like creatures before getting allowed into the temple. The next time you come back you will have to go in search of special water to heal the dragon that guards the next temple. When looking for the dragon, a new part of the forest will be unlocked, while in the same area, it will be in a waterfall instead of the woods. The final time you return to the forest you will need to search the flooded woods for tadpoles to learn part of the song needed to unlock the final temple. I understand why some people do not like the game's repetitive nature but I think it shows your progress throughout the game. One tip I will give for people struggling with the final complaint most people have is to make sure to use your wrist for the motion controls. If you overdo it and pretend it is an actual sword it will not work and you will have problems. The game is filled with amazing npcs, great villains and enemies and the world as a whole feels vibrant with all the colours and the four severely different areas. This game is one of the most unique in the series and I would give it a shot if you've never played it before or even if you have played it and didn't like it give it a 2nd shot with an open mind.

The HD version on Switch also fixes pretty much every problem people had with the game that could've been solved without completely changing the game into something completely different. I think I'll probably come back to the Wii version to play it now and again but the HD version is a massive improvement over the original. For example, a fair criticism of the original game was the length of the tutorial. In the original, it takes 1-2 hours just to get out of the tutorial and into the first proper area but in the remaster you can make it there in 15-20 minutes if you know where to go.

The main enemy in this game is not Ghirahim or The Demise, it is the controls. This game probably has the worst controls out of any game i've ever played, they are incredibly inconsistant. I'm perfectly fine with unique controls, but when those unique controls don't work, i have a problem with them. Another flaw but not really a flaw, is this game probably has my least favorite graphics out of any Zelda game since the CD-i Zelda games. The reason i say it's not really a flaw is because the graphics are still great, i just don't like the way the humans look in it. The story is arguably the best out of any Zelda game ever made, it knows how to make you hate, it knows how to make you sad and it knows how to make you smile. That is all i will say about the story, because i don't want to spoil it, despite me having a lot to say about it. The dungeons in this game are great, besides the ones that use the timeshift stones, i'm not a big fan of those, they are fun to use the first few times but they get very repetitive. The dungeons have clever puzzles and great bosses, just like almost every other Zelda game. Each dungeon is incredibly different, but are all at a slightly hard difficulty. They are definetly easier than the dungeons in Link to the Past, but are still tricky... because of the controls. This game would be incredibly easy if i could control it with a regular controller, i understand that they would have to redesign a lot of the bosses and enemies but it would just be so much easier and smoother to play. Despite me saying that, about 6 and a half hours after i started playing, i got used the controls and realised that this games controls were bad to make the game more difficult, you are always doing something. Which i can praise it for, you can make any movement with the controller and it correlates with the game, which even though it is unnecessary, it is impressive. I know i seemed hard on this game because i just ranted about the controls, but i truely loved it. It is definetly not my favorite Zelda game, but without any doubt in my mind it is the best Wii game i have ever played. Everything that wasn't the controls was truely great, this game has it all. This game keeps you thinking throughout the whole game, whether it's the puzzles, bosses or just the controls, you will always be thinking. This game is a strong 10/10, when i first started it i did not like it purely because of the controls but once i got used to them i absolutely loved it. If you started this game but quit because you didn't like the controls, try it again, you will not be dissapointed. Alright now take 15 shots, if you haven't already! Expand

A clue or an item like a bottle would have sufficed, or to make the kart course re-playable with time trials, or to get extra rupees, or a rare collectible (That is also a problem, every time you get a collectible formerly collected it just doesn't add to the numbers, you have to sit through a whole dialog, and an animation to tell you you have already collected this item 20 times). YOU GET NOTHING.

But besides this, some puzzles and enemies are truly fun, To date (yes, including Breath of the Wild ) This is the most artistically ambitious Zelda game ever made. Truly a masterpiece in storytelling, puzzle mechanics, art direction and action. Just remove those frustrating bits that make it sometimes a chore of experience, and you have the best Zelda game ever. But with those bits, it goes down to the 5th place. Sorry.

Sure, the motion
controls, while immersive, can be finicky, and the sky only has 5 or 6 noteworthy islands, but it's incredibly cleaver dungeon design and emotionally captivating story way more that make up for it.
I give The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword an 9 out of 10. it's got it's fair share of flaws and mishaps,
but it's an experience that every Nintendo fan should have.

Many people don´t like this game, mainly because of its controls, but apart from that it is a great game with one of the best stories a zelda game has ever had, where we can see a more detailed view of Zelda and Link friendship.

Bosses, dungeons, and quests are very well designed, soundtrack is wonderful, there are fun and memorable characters like Groose and Girahim, and I appreciate all the collectibles you can find. There's lots of fun things to do, and writing this in 2020, there's nothing grindy or pointless I can remember with little needless backtracking, everything was fun for me. The only thing I think SS could really use is an enemy arena like TP WW and ST, that would be so cool. Waiting for a remaster.

Comparing to other games in the series, I enjoy the new equipment system of having to upgrade your stuff and craft potions, making them seem more earned and adding cool new abilities. Different shields and medals, and other pouch items allow for different combinations, and the Hylian Shield is truly earned, adding more variation and a sense of achievement. My favorite Zelda game, like it better than Botw and OoT even, and it shares many of the things that make Botw so great.

The controls is, of course, the most immediately recognizable difference to past 3D Zelda games, and also the most divisive. They are very heavily reliant on the Wii MotionPlus motion controls, introduced in later Wii controllers, which means that everything from sword swings to bird flying is controlled with your very own wrists. This method of control takes some getting used to, and I would argue that it thereby contributes to the game's slow start, but ultimately, the dynamicity of motion grants a new edge to combat and traversal, previously unseen in the Zelda series. It's not perfect by any means (thrusting feels as awkward as it sounds), but I think they were right to commit to it fully, rather than have it in the backwater, like Twilight Princess.

The game's graphics are absolutely stunning for the Wii, with impressive geometry, and a high level of polish. Even here there are imperfections, though: the mocap for the cutscenes can look unfittingly goofy, and I personally did not enjoy the paint-splatter effect that is used to mask low-poly models in the distance, but over-all, it's extremely impressive what the Zelda team managed to achieve on this lower-end console. UI design is solid, and i particularly appreciated the option of a less intrusive in-game interface, but for how good the menus were, I did not enjoy being booted to them every time I collected a material or bug in a new area. It's also probably worth to note that the in-game pointer is similarly controlled by Wii MotionPlus, which makes perfect sense, but may still throw off players used to the snappy Wii pointer in other games.

The dungeon and world design is better than ever for the 3D Zelda series, in my opinion, with thoroughly explored mechanics, and neatly condensed areas. In contrast to many of the past games, the items gained in the game's dungeons are constantly used throughout the entire adventure, which means you'll have to get to know your entire arsenal to combat all the puzzles and foes that the game throws at you. This makes you really appreciate them more, especially with the addition of optional upgrades at the smithy in Skyloft. While on the subject of upgrades, I have to say that this game really nailed the sense of progression that many earlier titles lacked. You gather materials and bugs, buy and upgrade your gear, and increase your power at a good pace, while the challenges also get harder. Skyward Sword may be the only Zelda game where rupees, mostly, feel worth something, even trumping Breath of the Wild in this regard. There are plenty of shops and minigames to spend them at, and you have the ability to acquire a sizable wallet to store them in, so you don't have to watch a gold rupee go up in smoke.

In the later part of the experience, you start noticing the presence of filler content. Areas and enemies are commonly reused, and you'll have to bear a few instances that add nothing except time. Luckily, most of the filler is still competently made and fun, but it is noticeable, and makes the game lose some of its steam at the end.

The story is the usual, quite simple, affair, with the welcome addition of a few twists, and some completed character arcs. Cutscenes can drag at times, but generally add some spice and incentive to the gameplay, as well as showcase the improved expressions compared to the previous installment. The main story is supplemented with a surprisingly hefty collection of side missions, which range from tedious to well-written charmfests. Overall, the story is nothing groundbreaking, but works well for what it is, and does loads to flesh out the detailed environments that you get to explore.

In summary, Skyward Sword excels at many points where past Zelda-titles have faltered, which goes to show the team's willingness to innovate their successful formula, but is also hindered slightly by an inconsistent pacing, and small irritations and imperfections sprinkled throughout the experience.
I greatly enjoyed my time with Skyward Sword, and will therefore give it a rating of 8 out of 10.

Water, Fire, Sand. Water, Fire, Sand. Fetch, puzzle, progress. Fetch, puzzle, progress. Over and OVER again!

    Cons:
    - Way too much revisiting same areas.
    - Same set of enemies every dungeon and in all areas with small differences
    - Three repetitive themes for dungeons and areas: Water, Fire, and Sand.
    - "Fi", the assistance throughout your journey tells you really obvious things. For example, everytime you have 3 hearts left, she will want to tell you that your hearts are low and you should find some. No sh**!
    - No incentive to upgrade weapons and equipment to high or max levels, because it rarely will give you extra aid. For example, upgrading your bow to the highest level is pointless because you can only use it against normal enemies. But normal enemies die with the standard bow and arrow usually, already.
    - Picking up treasure can be very annoying. Since everytime you pick up a treasure in an area, link will hold the treasure up in the air for 3 seconds, then another 5 seconds shows you your collection menu. This really breaks the pace of the game.
    - Flying around in the sky, especially far locations, can lose its charm, to the point where you just want to skip the flying and just reach the destination.
    - Very few character bonding and storyline engaging cutscenes until the last part of the game.

    Pros:
    - The relationship between link and Zelda is deeper and more interesting than previous Zelda titles.
    - Puzzles are good and distinct.
    - Motion controls has its faults, but overall it is a great addition
    - The addition of stamina for Link.
    - The game makes great use of the motion plus feature, for example, by having enemies force you to swing in a certain direction.
    - The puzzle in the final dungeon was very well thought out. In my opinion, the best dungeon in all of the Zelda series.
    - Very satisfying, well explained and lovely ending.
    - Final battle is intense which gives a nice climax to the game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is a very fun and epic game! It is the second zelda game I have played! The combat is even better than TP, which I thought was cool too. People criticize the game for being linear but I disagree. I do not know why people think being linear is a bad thing, cause it is not! I think one of the main problems people have with the game is that it reuses content. I can kinda see why. There is 3 big regiens and all of the dungeons are there except for the one temple on skyloft. In the faron regien there is a forest dungeon and water dungeon. In eldin there is a lava dungeon and another lava dungeon. In the lanayru regien there is a sand/time dungeon and a pirate ship dungeon. You can kinda peoples critizisisms of the lack of varity in dungeon themes. But the dungeons themselfs are very good. But after the six dungeons, it gets a little annoying at some parts. There is a bunch of extra stuff that you have to do after that, like finding verses of a song, doing a trial on skyloft to get a stone, then put it in the bird statue, complete the last dungeon...some of this section is great, the other stuff is annoying. I totally forgot the order of the last section because of the annoying parts. That is really my only complaint. Most of the parts in that section are either great or fine. Overall this game is so fun, with a great story, and a epic game. Expand

Backtracking was quite fun and I really enjoyed going back to areas I haven’t been to in a while and finding new things, which reminded me of a metroidvania (some of my favourite games are metroidvanias), and using things I remembered as odd to solve puzzles with a new item. The handholding brings it down though, In the ancient cistern, I figured out that you had to move the statue in the middle to get underground. I thought it was a really cool puzzle. Then a sign told me how to solve the puzzle.
Overall, really fun and uses the motion controls really well to execute wonderful puzzles and level design, although the handholding brings it down, and is why it’s a 9.
