    Such an amazing 3d Mario game and although some may agree that it's not as original as sunshine, I personally preferred it. It also led to an amazing sequel with some may believe was better.

    best game ever made. period. Mario has always had the best games and this is Nintendo's best work. The platforming is precise and all mistakes are the players fault. everything is done beautifully. also, Rosalina is kick ass.

Realistic textures of materials, the physics of the water & liquid surfaces, ice, variety of reflections, the sounds, everything is so gorgeously rendered that it is very easy to forget that you are playing in the role of cartoon character.

    The game has a nice, kinda rpg-ish structure at    Mario Galaxy is the game with one of the most beautiful graphics you will see on the Wii by far. Realistic textures of materials, the physics of the water & liquid surfaces, ice, variety of reflections, the sounds, everything is so gorgeously rendered that it is very easy to forget that you are playing in the role of cartoon character.

    The game has a nice, kinda rpg-ish structure at it's base, which always leaves you coming back for more, even if just for wandering around the Comet Observatory, chatting up with characters and enjoying the view.

    The innovative gravitational physics create mind-blowing gameplay experience that you will easily enjoy even on it's own. The unique usage of the Wiimote controls is done in a perfect and intuitive way, you can feel that they were implemented in the game from the ground up, designing the game around the controls, which makes the game & controls complementing each other in the best way possible. I could never go back to classic thumbstick controls after this, the controls in this game just feel right. The ways in which you can manipulate elements in this game by controling the Wiimote are diverse, full of surprises and the "whoa I can do that??" moments.

    I expected a classic "side-by-side" multiplayer co-op when I bought this game and was surprised that it offers kind of a assymetric co-op instead. One player navigates the character in a regular, 3rd person gameplay, and the other player co-ops only in the form of a "fps-ish" kinda way (represented by target pointer), by shooting and collecting starbits, or managing other manageable/moveable elements with the pointer. However, I came to find out after a while that this offers a very nice, layed back socializing experience. Even more so, since in this way, there are plenty of possibilities to fool around and choose to help or troll your main co-player, as opposed to what would probably be a more goal-oriented gameplay if the co-op multiplayer was done in a classic symmetrical way.    … Expand

    It's just perfect. The gameplay, the graphics, the soundtrack, EVRYTHING is perfect. One of the best mario games of all the time and one of the best wii games.

    If there was one word that best describes Super Mario Galaxy, it would be "FLAWLESS". This is hands down my favorite Mario game of all time! The controls are very responsive and fluid making my deaths my own fault. The story is just like any other Mario game but incredibly deep and touching. The soundtrack is godlike and just plain epic.     OMG I played this when I didn't have pube hair and im still playing it now, that really says something about this magnificent piece of craftsmanship that is this game. I play so much holy mother of mario fireballs, Its so much fun, and the people who rate it down were either not good at the game or just didn't care to even try to like it as much as they should have.     I played this game for five years straight to beat the thing. I don't regret any of it. It has the best graphics of any animated game ever for Mario. It is just spell-binding and mind-blowing when you think of all the other Mario games and wonder how they came up with this. I will never stop complimenting this game.

    It was one of the first Mario games I knew about. Other then "New Super Mario Bros. Wii" It was also my cousin's first. I loved it for many years. I played it a lot. It only had a couple issues. Nintendo is great at this. If there will be a 3rd game in this series, I would be glad to play it.

    One of the best Mario games ever. The game takes generally hated anti-gravity gimmicks and makes a game that rivals Super Mario World in its quality. The game also has amazing control and masterful music. If you don't have this game, then you must not have a Wii.

    Super Mario Galaxy is a great game. It has everything you loved about SM64 but with some twists. The space idea was a great one, it isn't the same old make your way through different worlds to get to Bowser's castle. Instead you get to discover new galaxies and make your way through space. Super Mario Galaxy is a great creation and one of the best games of all time!

    a amazing game in a amazing franchise. great graphics, amazing gameplay and a beautiful soundtrack. the only small downside is that it is really easy but that doesn't prevent from being one of the best games ever made.

    This is the best game ever! It just is. The graphics are breathtaking, the story is great, the levels and galaxies are creative and very fun, and the music is absolutely beautiful. If you haven't played this game, please play it. This game is just awesome and forever will be, in my opinion, the best game ever.

    Super Mario Galaxy is probably one of the best video games ever made. It has good graphics (for its time), great controls and great gameplay. The only problem is the lack of a proper co-op mode. Overall, Super Mario Galaxy is a must-buy for anyone who has a Wii, and this game is worth buying one.

    Although I gave it a 9 it's more a 9.5/10, can't do that in Metacritic. This game is one of the best on the Wii and one of the best of last gen, my only criticism are the manta ray levels and having to play ALL the game again as Luigi to beat it 100%, aside from that this is an amazing game. Must buy.

Unfortunately, the game has bad swimming/flying controls, and it occasionally crashed on me. Nonetheless, if you are looking for an unforgettable adventure, this is the game for you.     We did not finish this game, but my wife and I had a remarkable time playing it. We did something so strange one night when we were inebriated, we decided to start this game and play it each holding one of the Wii controllers. We were newly married at the time and it was so fun to experience this game and its challenges with an unintended level of co-operative challenge.     STORY: Super Mario Galaxy starts with Peach sending a letter to Mario, telling him to come to the castle, and Mario then going to the castle. Apparently in the mushroom kingdom they're celebrating the Star    Super Mario Galaxy is not only the best game on the Wii, not only one of the best Mario games ever, not only is a unique, satisfying experience..., but it's also a lot of fun.

    STORY: Super Mario Galaxy starts with Peach sending a letter to Mario, telling him to come to the castle, and Mario then going to the castle. Apparently in the mushroom kingdom they're celebrating the Star Festival, which happens 100 years betwen the newest and the oldest.

    Well the celebration doesn't last for long, since Bowser comes out of nowhere and kidnaps the Prince's, but not in the traditional way, ooooh no instead he calls a giant U.F.O, destroys the terrain around the castle and brings it to space. Mario tries to go rescue, but namek, the evil koopa wizard, shoots Mario with his Magic projectile and sends him into outer space.

    Fortunately Mario lands in a friendly planet and encounters this Floating-Star and he plays Hide and seek with them...oh and the Floating Stars transform into bunny.

    After catching all the Bunny Stars, they point Mario to a building where he founds Rosalina, pretty much the God of the Mario Universe and the "Mother" of the Lumas (The floating stars that transformed into Bunnies), who explains that he needs to find the Maxi-Stars and Power-Stars that Bowser stael out of them from the their "Spaceship" called the Planetarium.

    Rosalina gives Mario a new spin-ability to get back one Maxi-star and Mario does just that. Mario and the star go to the Planetarium and Rosalina asks Mario to go and get more, so the planetarium can run again and get the power necessary to save Princess Peach.

    PRESENTATION: Super Mario galaxy takes great advantage of the Wii's power. While the console is not as powerful as the PS3 or Xbox 360, but Nintendo took good use of what they had at hand and as a result ,Super Mario Galaxy is one of the best looking and preforming games of the system.

    The smooth 60fps, the saturated colors, the models, everything is great. The soundtrack...do i even need to say anything?, this music is AMAZING!!, it has everything: it's catchy, fits perfectly with the environments, it rarely loops and the instrumentation is done (for the most part) with a full on orchestra and it just sound awesome.

    GAMEPLAY: Super Mario Galaxy is a 3D gravity based collectathon platformer game. Now for anyone who is not familiar with the term "Collectathon", it basicly means a game where you go around a certain map collecting things and completing certain objectives. Games like Banjo-kazooie, Super Mario 64, Donkey Kong 64 and this game, are good examples of this.

    The main feature that this game brings to the table is gravity based platformer. It behaves just like is sounds, you can move in a 360º space and you can go above or below the places that you explore. There are some places were depending on where your are, you will go up or down (mostly in 2D places). The camera angles complement this new feature and very few times it will give you any problems.

    Another thing that Galaxy brings is the motion controls. There are many different level gimmicks around the Wiimote and i really enjoy them, i never had any major control issues and most of the are very simple to use like: point this, control that or shake the controller to do the spin attack...and speaking of...

    To make the platforming in this game a lot more deep, we have the spin attack. It can be used to attack enemies and do a homing jump on them, but the main thing about the move is that it can be used along with the normal jump, long jump, somersault, crouch jump, every jump! to get some extra air time and altitude and believe me it doesn't sound like much, but when you are playing the game this becomes very useful and a lifesaver at times.

    To complete a stage you have to grab the powestar that you get by completing a certain mission and there's 120 stars in total. Some of them are very simple like getting from point A to point B or finding this specific thing on the map, but to get more variety, you also have things like race to the finish against your shadow counterpart or with a bunch of penguins, we also get some comets here and there that grant you things like collect 100 purple coins, beat the stage in a time limit or with incremental speed you know stuff like that.

    We also have some new power ups like the bee suit that allows you to hover or the ghost one that allows you to cross certain walls, but you lose them by touching water and light respectively. The fire flower is also back, but with a strange time limit, and the starman is back to, no super mushroom sadly, but it's because Mario has a health bar this time, but you do have this other one that gives you 6 hit points instead of 3 and then we have the Ice Flower which allows you to go over water...that's it.

    In conclusion Super Mario Galaxy is a fun and very replayable title that any Wii or Wii U owner must have in their shelf. I'll give it a 10/10    … Expand

    This is a masterpiece! I think this is the best 3d Mario game by far. It has beautiful worlds. I especially like the gravity or lack of. It makes way for so much creativity. If you don't have this then you need to get it!

I have played all of the 3D Mario games, and I find that this game introduces lots of new revolutionary places. Anti-gravity, graphics that look shiny and glimmery. Almost like SSB WiiU. Controls are good, but could have used Classic Controller Pro instead. Music is awesome and memorable. And, this is also the first 3D Mario game that you can play as Luigi once you finish the game! Overall, great, but could have been better, you know, multiplayer! Still, fun and great game. 10 out of 10… Expand

    Forget about Ocarina Of Time, this is your greatest of all time! What can I say? This is Mario at the peak of his powers. They perfected the formula and I don't think any other Mario game can top it.

    I've never been a fan of the galaxy games. I don't think this is the best Mario game ever, I don't like the starbit mechanic, and I don't think the orchestrated soundtrack. Sure, the soundtrack is great, but it doesn't feel like it's from Mario. It feels like it's from Star Wars, and that's something a Mario soundtrack should never feel like. However, I'll give it a pass since Mario's inI've never been a fan of the galaxy games. I don't think this is the best Mario game ever, I don't like the starbit mechanic, and I don't think the orchestrated soundtrack.     This game gives me pride for the franchise. That is all i can say about it. Difficult levels for some fun. Great first game if you just got a Wii. Little youthful though so be warned.

For a Wii Game, I would still say this game looks better than the majority of XBox 1 and PS4 games in terms of art and beauty. Each level, incredibly fun and satisfying in their own ways. This game is Perfect. You can tell by every aspect of this game that Nintendo poured their hearts out to make something beyond compare to any other game. The only thing I would change is making the game more difficult. But, they did that in super Mario galaxy 2! I recommend this game to every single person on the planet.     When I'm in the right mood, this is one of the best Mario games I've played. The music is probably my favorite part about it, but the game itself is still a blast, even years later. Some levels make me want to use regular controls at times, but overall, it's a fun game.

    I recently replayed this game and I was really shocked how great it still is. It is better than I remembered. The new ways Mario can be played in this game are still fascinating. The music is so great that it nearly brings tears to my eyes. The gameplay is new and fresh and also challenging.

The music is one of the best soundtracks ever composed, its beautiful orchestral melodies mixed with the galactic themes of the levels is a match made in heaven.

    The only thing people widely dislike about the game, the motion gimmick levels, barely make up 5 percent of all the levels in the game. Only 6 stars out of the game's 121 stars are the motion controlled levels, and they really are not that bad as long as you pretend the Wiimote or Joycon you're using is a joystick.

    Overall, this game is one of the greats, easily the best of both the Wii's library and Mario's entire catalog, and is a masterpiece on every front. I believe this is a game absolutely everyone should play.    … Expand

    This game has not aged a day, and it still looks and plays incredible! I honestly cannot find any fault in this game. If I wanted to be really critical, I could complain about the Wii's resolution, but that is just the fact it is on the Wii. This game holds to the test of time, and it absolutely will for generations to come!

The controls feel so solid and feel great to use. The story also feels very cinematic, which is quite different for Mario. Hours of pure fun. 9.5/10

    The 2nd best entry in 3D platforming (Mario Odyssey first). This game was revolutionary for Mario 3D platformers with incredibly better and smoother controls, great stages, amazing soundtrack, a lot of content and Luigi as a playable characters of course. Must play.

I'll be honest anti-gravity isn't my favorite thing in games. it feels useless, yet somehow I LOVE gravity in this game.Whenever I play this game I always feel like I'm playing a remastered version of sm64. The levels feel so alive they don't feel just like a bunch of obstical courses (something that nowadays mario feels like). The controls are perfect.Motion controls have always confused me. Most of the times they felt like a bad replacement of the actual controller. For me motion controls have to an addition to the controls, something that can't be done with a regular controller.Super Mario Galaxy uses motion controls in a different way.     One of the best Mario games. The story (while yes being the same for centuries) has a bit of a unique twist on it. The gameplay is amazing. The levels are charming and repayable. The best Mario soundtrack of all time! As you can see, I love this game. it will always be one of my favorites games of all time.

    I have been gaming for 10 years now, gone through PC, Switch, PlayStation, and out of all these consoles, I've never played a game as great as Super Mario Galaxy. The gameplay and graphics are amazing, especially from a 2007 game. The soundtrack is also fantastic.

Galaxy 2 just never gave me that excited, mission -like feel, with the very straightforward map progression it had. However in the original I was always excited to discover what new possibilities lie out in the void of space that surrounded the observatory. And the geniuses who made this game knew exactly how to combine all different elements into something that, even today, gives me a sense of wonder and nostalgia. Whether it was Deep Dark Galaxy and its sense of impending darkness and subtle, eerie "offness," the epic and dangerous Melty Molten Galaxy, or the immersive creativity of Freezeflame Galaxy, the music and graphics are just so perfect together. The experience is so driving, I couldn't ask for anything more in this game. Never was I bored and thinking the game wasn't worth beating; even though I still have one star to collect before I can be Luigi, I'm actually SUPER excited to get it so I can collect gold stars and relive my childhood playing the game over again. And some people have said it's "too easy," well a lot of the comets and purple coins have been very hard for me over the years but still just as fun as regular levels (well maybe not dreadnought purple coin which I am STUCK on, either I'm just bad or that level is just insanely hard). This game is just unforgettable in every way. Before playing it, i thought it was strange and that it'd have been a normal experience like the other games i've played beforehand. After finishing it, i realized to have gone through one of the most beautiful gaming experiences of my life, no kidding. 100/100, the true Nintendo Business Card :D

    This game has tilt controls on a level. Yet still the best Wii game. (side quests too)

    Mario Galaxy is a very good game. This game along with part 2 are innovative for its time .

    Galaxy proves that Mario matters just as much today as he did 25 years ago, and that makes him one of a kind in this medium. But don't play Galaxy simply because Mario is the timeless godfather of gaming. No, play Galaxy because it's fantastic.
