    The once-beloved Sonic series continues its mediocrity with another gimmicky and unoriginal game, but worse. Pros: Some of the best graphics ever seen on the Wii; engrossing cutscenes. Cons: No loops, no corkscrews, no originality; poor controls; repetitious enemies; awful mini-games.

    I am sad to report that Black knight took almost everything that was fun about Secret Rings and destroyed it completely. There is no point in controlling your character on such a strict linear gameplay path. The story which I will not spoil is Among the worst in the franchise, and possibly the industry. Not to mention Knuckles gameplay segments are COMPLETELY broken, I could not complete his origin level more than once because he wouldn't stop attacking when I so much as tilted the directional stick on the NUNCHUK forward.

    The game should be avoided pure and simple, save your money for something else like the upcoming colors.    … Expand

    This game is quite honestly disgusting. It is not even worth five dollars. I ended up beating it in 2 hours max. Everything was gimmicky, and slow as hell. The levels never really felt like it was tailored for sonic, and they encourage you to rapidly wave the wii mote to swing the sword. You wave the wii mote, and two seconds later you get a sword slash. Its freaking sonic with a sword, heThis game is quite honestly disgusting. It is not even worth five dollars. Thats about how far they got before they shipped the game really. The only cool part was him eating his chili dogs that he so freaking loves. Honestly, this game is terrible. Do not buy it.     Even more gimmicky than Sonic Unleashed, but even more unoriginal. Pros: Excellent production value, including beautiful graphics, cutscenes, and level designs. Cons: Boring and repetitious gameplay that lacks any kind of speed or originality; often quirky control and camera; imbalanced battle arena mode.

    I think Sonic Team has just thrown in the towel at this point. They've turned Sonic into the prince of persia (Secret Rings), a werewolf (Unleashed) and a Pokemon Trainer (Colours). Now he's a knight, although a schizophrenic knight with Multiple Sclerosis.

Gameplay: all you have to do is run to the end, swing your sword, jump and OMG I BEAT T3H L3V3L. Controls: you move with the Nunchuck and swing with using the wiimote, A is to jump. It's slow, controls seem to do whatever the fuck they like most the time and when you need to actually do something of any importance, it takes far too fucking long to respond. I'm on the mission "Finish using the Soul Surge on the ground"... Nice and informative mission there... I take it I hit the goal sign with a Soul Surge...Holy fuck... Words to describe this game fails me. It's slow, controls seem to do whatever the fuck they like most the time and when you need to actually do something of any importance, it takes far too fucking long to respond. Attack the enemy and you'll never have enough time to press B to use the special attack. Don't attack the enemy, you have to dodge... Not enough time.     This game is a joke to me. Why is sega torturing "us" with these horrible games?! Make sonic run fast, no DARN gimmicks, and a couple of characters, and you got a good sonic game! Sega, is that really too hard to do?!

    The dialog is so horrid it makes me want to gnaw my own face off. The gameplay is basically a series of glorified quicktime events. Unplayable.

    To be honest, I do not own this game. Nor have I completed it. I did, however, rent it in order to give it a fair chance. Thank God I did not waste my money on buying it! There is something to be said for simplicity, but some games like this one take this concept to a negative extreme. The gameplay (if one can even call it that) in Sonic and the Black Knight consists little more of holding up the control stick on the nunchuck and constantly swinging the Wii remote back and forth. Sound dull, shallow, and frustrating? It is; it also leaves you with a sore arm. To be fair, maybe the game gets better at a certain point, but based off of what I have seen and read in various reviews, I highly doubt it. Even if Sonic and the Black Knight does get gradually better as time goes on, it would not be worth the high levels of frustration and boredom at the beginning of the game. The only pros about this game are that it looks great (especially by Wii standards) and that putting Sonic characters into an Arthurian world and plot actually works surprisingly well. These two characteristics, however, are the only good things to be found here. If you really want a Sonic game, get Sonic Colors, Sonic Unleashed, or even Sonic and the Secret Rings. All are much better picks; just avoid this game at all costs. Final score: 4.5.… Expand

    Sonic and the Black Night was fun at first, but the levels became annoying after a while, the graphics were in a storybook format that I didn't enjoy, and once I beat the game, i didn't really want to go back and try for higher scores. On the other hand, the swordplay was an intresting aspect and the levels were somewhat satisfying. I would recommend renting this game before buying it,Sonic and the Black Night was fun at first, but the levels became annoying after a while, the graphics were in a storybook format that I didn't enjoy, and once I beat the game, i didn't really want to go back and try for higher scores. On the other hand, the swordplay was an intresting aspect and the levels were somewhat satisfying. I would recommend renting this game before buying it, simply because when you complete all the levels, you might very well put the disk back in its case and leave it in a pile of discards, never to be played by you again.     Really glad I got this from the clearance section instead of new. I was a bit concerned at how simple and unengaging the gameplay was at first, but I figured it was a tutorial. It never got better. The game was very short, finishing in about two hours, the new characters were forgettable, and the mechanics were atrocious.     This game is physically repulsive. I beat it in a few hours which makes the game is extremely slow and boring. The gameplay was very linear, and there are so many unoriginal and useless gimmicks. There also isn't very much of a story. Let's just try to forget this piece of crap.

It was also released for 50 bucks because SEGA knew people would buy anything with Sonic in the title. It doesn't even have good sword play. You just get a slow swinging sword. That's it. Every other attack is the same as any other Sonic, but slightly more complicated. For instanceThe game is basically shovelware. For instance the homing attack uses energy and jumping on or at enemies won't kill them unless you waggle the wii-mote which spins the sword. It's stupid.

    The controls are not only clunky but inferior to to Secret Rings. Moving left to right is digital even though it uses an analog stick. There's a lot of popin which causes a lot of death and difficulty. Not only is it graphical popin. Some of it is popin by design. For instance, there's a level where you have to jump over thorny vines, but you won't know where they are until you're in mid air and they grow underneath you. Some levels don't even have obstacles, you just collect rings and give them to towns people through timing puzzles.    … Expand

Shadow and Knuckles boss fights where patheticly easy blaze was a bit difficult and then therevis arthur boss fight wich is terableonly because if delayedSonic and the black knight may have an actually alright story.     God-Awful. The gameplay makes no sense, enemies are just annoying, there is no fun in killing them. The game has an amazingly high production value, but their gameplay is so awful that it actually ruined my day, meaning that I should be able to give it a negative score.

All the other characters aren’t even in the game, their character models are just slapped on the screen, given a medieval makeover, and are completely unnecessary to be there. They’re even given new names. This shouldn’t even be a Sonic game, and yet for some reason it is. That’s not even the biggest problem, that’s the gameplay. It’s way too easy, I have it on the Wii and all you literally do its keep the joystick facing forward and then just swing your remote around like an madman. In an hour or two, you’ll have beaten Sonic and the Black Knight. Besides that, most of the enemies can be skipped, and the items make no difference. Speaking of items, the menu is a mess, and you can’t even change items until stage 4 or some **** At least the sound track is kick ass, but that’s the only good thing. There’s also a teenage girl version of Merlin in there, who’s completely forgettable, and Sonic also talks to a sword for what they think is comedy but it really just is pointless bickering. And yes you heard that right, Sonic has a **** sword, which he doesn’t even need. WHY THE **** WOULD YOU GIVE SONIC A SWORD. But besides all that, this game sucks ass.    … Expand

The faster it shakes, the sooner you need to swing. Eventually you start having to swing a split second before it even appears. These QTEs ruin most of the bosses this game offers.… Expand

    in conclusion this game give me stage 4 brain cancer all types of terminal illnesses and it ****ing sucks I hate **** you

    Mindlessly shaking the remote gets old and the easy missions pose little challenge, but the storybook presentation, well-animated cut scenes and wealth of hidden items make Sonic and the Black Knight worth a rental.
