Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage manages to convince on the looks en variety part but seriously lacks on a distinctive gameplay-style. The controls in combination with the Wii Balance Board are a bit hard to master for those who are inexperienced boarders. Luckily the Wii-controller on it’s own works just fine, which is a big plus for anyone looking for a snowboard experience on the Wii.
-
Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage is easy, lighthearted and quite funny to play, in single or in local co-op mode. A good chance to dust off your Balance Board.
-
Nintendo PowerSnowboarding stood out on Wii by taking a different approach to style, content, and (obviously) controls compared to other platforms. Unfortunately, not much has changed in this iteration, despite Wii MotionPlus support and a career mode in which you slowly climb the ranks to become number one. [Holiday 2009, p.85]
-
Enjoyed only with the Wii remote controller the experience falls short of establishing an innovation in the genre, but based on the use of the balance board in collaboration it can provide a nice innovation. It’s highly appealing and simple to implement.
-
Like its predecessor, World Stage is one of the best multiplayer racers on Nintendo's family-friendly console. But you can't escape the feeling that it's a lazy effort.
-
Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage for Wii is another quality boarding title. However, the few improvements don't add up to a lot more than what was available last year; this really isn't a very inspired sequel.
-
Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage is a game that will take you through the cold winter days this year. Especially city's like London and New York will bring you an extra vibe. The biggest disappointment is the lack of an online multiplayer. Still the game itself is nice enough to play.
-
Shaun White's ideas are starting to look a little thin on the ground. You'll still likely enjoy playing World Stage for the four or five hours it will take to see a fair amount of what's on offer, but when it's all over, it may be harder to argue that the game itself is particularly special.
-
It's spot the difference time again, with another sequel that fails to offer any real improvements.
-
Shaun White returns with a children's game that is more simple and short. Diversion and good use of the Wii Balance Board and WiiMotion Plus for all the family. It needs more levels and less movement. Graphics and sound are acceptable.
-
Shaun may have walked away with the gold, but his games still can’t qualify.
-
While I can appreciate the attraction Wii-owning Shaun White fans might feel when faced with the latest entrant in Ubisoft's burgeoning snowboarding franchise, there's simply not enough new and worthwhile content in World Stage to justify me doing anything but twisting consumer shoulders towards last year's offering instead.
-
While not flawed, it's devoid of substance. For the rest of us, there are superior options -- from this generation as well as the last -- to indulge in armchair snowboarding thrills.
