Games Master UKA ballsy shooter with great ideas, all of which have been borrowed and done better elsewhere. [May 2009, p.69]
-
Rogue Trooper stands out for two big reasons: it's one of very few decent third-person 3D action games on the Wii and it's a good quality game based upon a licensed property.
-
The team at Rebellion (and Reef, who handled the Wii version) have crafted a tactical combat game that hits the target so often that slight wavering every now and again can easily be overlooked. It would be easy to dismiss Rogue Trooper as the game where you play as a blue man with a talking gun, helmet and rucksack, but that blue man deserves a place in your Wii collection.
-
Rogue Trooper is not a bad game, it's just a shallow porting of an average third-person shooter that's going to appeal neither to hardcore nor casual gamers.
-
Ultimately, Rogue Trooper: Quartz Zone Massacre is an interesting title for those players not used to the genre, who are only looking for a temporary action game to fill their Wii game library.
-
When you're looking for a good third person science fiction game for the Wii, this is the title you should get. Although it contains a nice single- and multiplayer experience, the game only lasts for a few hours.
-
The campaign is fairly enjoyable if you can manage to cope with the iffy controls, peppered with a good amount of stealth, tactics, and even rail-shooting segments.
