    Not since Super Mario Galaxy will a game stay in the Wii for so long, and for many households interacting with all ages and introducing the kids to some great rock music is truly invaluable.

    If the guitar gets a tad better, and the drums a little more ... well more, then I'd have to give it aces nearly everywhere.

    If Wii is you're only system and you have the cash, it's probably worth it. On its own, it's a solid entry, although there are also a lot of other competing music games out there.

    The need to calibrate is annoying, but the scaled-down aspects are moot with Wii owners, and the multiplayer aspects are perfectly suited for the Wii in general.

    Its instruments work well, there are plenty of songs to rock out to and the multiplayer component is irresistible. It may not have the greatest stage presence, but it still puts on a heck of a show.

    Still, the big question remains: With Rock Band 2 coming to Wii in a matter of months, is this really the best time to ask people to buy a bunch of expensive peripherals that are on the verge of being bested by their next-gen counterparts? (While the first game's instruments will work with Rock Band 2, the sequel will come with new -- and improved -- peripherals.)

It does a great job of making you feel like a rockstar even though you are still playing 5 plastic buttons. Plus the release of the expansion disks means many more years of playability with rumored Rockband 2 planning to be backwards compatible with the instruments we already purchased.     Good gravy. I love Rock Band, but this port is AWFUL. What exactly are you getting here? You're getting the same setlist from the PS360Good gravy. I love Rock Band, but this port is AWFUL. What exactly are you getting here? You're getting the same setlist from the PS360 versions plus 5 extra songs. You're getting the same gameplay as the PS360 versions. Annnnd... that's it.

    What are you NOT getting? Well, online gameplay for starters. Any multiplayer must be done in the same room. Plus, no online leaderboards. There is no outside motivation to get a high score or FC a song, and once you do, nobody knows about it but you. You don't get any career mode, so you're just playing songs over and over. You can't make your own characters, use Guitar Hero instruments, or export the game. By the way, did you know there is a game on the Wii that does all these things? It's called Rock Band 2. Get that one. Skip this one unless you absolutely MUST play RB1's setlist.    … Expand

    It's nearly identical to the PS2 version, which makes it worth avoiding simply on principle. Add the fact that GH4 is doing it right, and there isn't any reason to pick up Rock Band on the Wii, unless you absolutely must have the music from Rock Band. However, in that case, I would have picked it up on a different platform last year.… Expand
