  1. The motion-sensitive controls work very well and the graphical upgrade is appreciated.
  2. Really a pretty fun game. Worth a rental at least. If you've got a kid, it's probably worth buying, especially if they enjoyed the movie.
  3. A great game for the little one in your life, and you might have some fun with it, too.

One mini-game made us laugh out loud as our cow did an MC Hammer dance. [Jan 2007, p.83]
  5. While the motion-sensitive controls don't fully justify the Wii version's higher price tag, they do make a fun sandbox game seem even more engaging.
  6. It’s deep, full of fun minigames, and definitely not one to slack off and show sloppy Wii controls.

It has a slightly goofy and laid-back approach to gaming, but it's solid and way more fun than the other recent movie-licensed launch titles. [January 2007, p.61]
  8. Regardless of its shortcomings, Barnyard's mini-games and activities on the farm make it worth at least a rental. Just accept the fact that bovines ride bikes and mix drinks.
  9. Ultimately, Barnyard is an easy, mildly entertaining grab bag of minigames and missions. Kids will undoubtedly enjoy the game and their parents will find themselves sucked into numerous minigames as well.

If the Wii controls had been more responsive and a bit easier to understand when navigating menus, more activities and incentive to explore the sprawling environments had been included and the sound was more varied, then Barnyard would have scored higher.
  11. Barnyard was a surprisingly solid release in the fall of 2006, but this Wii version tries too hard to incorporate the unique Wii controls, and it all ends up falling flat.
  12. A strangely compelling, if completely non-essential, diversion for adults and definitely a recommended rental for the youngsters.

Where Barnyard builds on the main game using Wii control, it fails in many of the mini-games, delivering everything form mildly entertaining time-wasters to full-fledged broken attempts.
  14. Don't expect miracles, just a fun sand boxed movie based game that can hold your attention for a short while.
  15. Unfortunately, due to the boring missions and the slow moving character and pace, I would pass on Barnyard.

This game is an immersive hub world with story missions that slowly unlock as you progress through the game.

You can collect flowers, recipes and ingredients.

You can also incrementally upgrade your nightclub over time.

The game is very simple, easy to play, and oddly immersive. Motion controls for the wii also work surprisingly well. I feel this game was designed with motion controls in mind.

Parts of the game feel unfinished, and there’s no real reason to craft and recipes or collect any flowers. The game could have had more depth when it came to collectibles and giving the player a reason to participate.

Some of the mini games were a drag, and some of the missions and controls could be explained better.

Too easy and some of the mini game controls just don't work or work intermittently. I would spend money elsewhere - luckily I rented first.
