Despite the acceptable graphics and high-quality story, this one's not worth your while.
-
There's no spark to Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 on the Wii. The same cutscenes are used from the 360/PS3 version so you're getting the story of Secret and Civil War, but other than that you're left with a ho-hum game that packs some dumb AI, frustrating bits, and odd hold ups.
-
Nintendo PowerReeking of a quick-and-dirty Wii port, the game is hampered by clumsy controls, bland level design, muddy visuals, and ultrasimplistic AI. [Dec 2009, p.89]
-
The game offers very few moments of entertainment and for the most part you are simply going through the motions, and on the Wii those motions are painful and repetitive.
-
If you've never played Marvel Ultimate Alliance you're better off getting the first game which should be easy to find cheaply - you might struggle a little with the controls, but you'll have a lot more fun.
-
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 is a predominantly unremarkable title that fails to hook you in any meaningful way. Combat is an integral part of the game, but it is a largely repetitive and unsatisfying affair due to an over-reliance on under-powered attacks and button-bashing.
-
It's inelegant and underdeveloped, and it represents a major step backward when compared to the original. Halfhearted dialogue, bad AI, unimaginative level design, stripped RPG elements, and all sorts of other factors make the game feel as if it were pieced together on an assembly line and quickly tossed onto store shelves.
-
Nintendo GamerA staggering work of technical ineptitude. [Dec 2009, p.71]
