It's a truly impressive alternative to the Jam experience that even excels beyond my nostalgia memories of that arcade classic in some respects.
-
Anyone who's played NBA Jam will feel right at home from the very beginning of HoopWorld. You'll be passing, shooting and making wild dunks, but with a few twists.
-
HoopWorld is not a bad choice for a quick and cheap round of arcade basketball, and those blessed souls willing to overlook the flawed controls might find themselves having a pretty good time.
-
It might not hold a candle to a certain classic contender once Fall rolls around, HoopWorld is still good, arcade-y fun that particularly shines when you play with a friend.
-
Although there are many "this could have been better" elements in Hoopworld, it contains short bursts of entertainment once the goofy control scheme is learned.
-
Official Nintendo Magazine UKRattles off the backboard. [Oct 2010, p.95]
-
Unable to decide its own identity, Hoopworld feels both casual and complex, featuring mechanics that are too basic and unpolished for a modern game and a knotty control scheme that is sure to scare away grandma.
