A great introduction to Mystery Dungeon for newcomers, a competent rent for others. [Jan 2009, p.80]
  2. If traipsing through multi-tiered dungeons for hours, leveling up a multitude of job classes and equipment, and keeping track of health, hunger and magic levels sets your heart aflutter, it doesn't get much better than Chocobo's Dungeon.
  3. Final Fantasy flavorings keep this dungeon crawler enjoyable for fans in spite of some tiresome and frustrating elements.
  4. The family friendly visuals and aesthetic feel of Chocobo's Dungeon successfully manage to mask what is otherwise an in-depth accomplished RPG that requires strategy, tactics and persistence.
  5. While it’s not on the epic scale of most Final Fantasy games, there’s still enough to enjoy in Chocobo’s Dungeon. Not bad.
  6. Players new to the formula may enjoy it for a while, but the uninspired random levels quickly get monotonous even for first-time dungeon crawlers.
  7. The punishing artificial intelligence makes Chocobo's Dungeon more annoying than fun.
  8. A missed opportunity. Its gameplay is quite solid and forces the player to use tact and thought to complete all of the dungeons in the game; however, the randomly-generated dungeons really detract from its otherwise engaging gameplay.
  9. Chocobo's Dungeon does what it does best in one area only, the Mystery Dungeon area, and people unfamiliar to the formula will more than likely struggle to get into things. Having said that, it's the only game of its kind on Wii right now and by giving it a lot of time, Mystery Dungeon fans will get a lot out of it - given they don't mind the cruddy presentation.
  10. Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon is a game with a decent concept what eventually shows up in the storyline and gameplay. However, the downside of this all is the poorly translation and the somewhat disappointing graphics. In al fairness a pretty decent game, but never rises above the average spin-off game.
  11. A relic of gameplay design that should have gone extinct with the dinosaurs. [July 2008, p.92]

I found the story to be whimsical, the characters well designed, and the gameplay spot on for a mystery dungeon game. Mystery dungeon gamesI found the story to be whimsical, the characters well designed, and the gameplay spot on for a mystery dungeon game. Mystery dungeon games have always been sort of a niche thing, but luckily, I've learn to love them. If you like this game, you might also like Azure Dreams(GBC), Shiren the Wanderer(DS), or Baroque(Wii). Full Review »

If this game was on the PS3, I'm sure it would be better as they have the best gameplay and graphics. Like all other Wii games, the graphics and physics are sub-par for this game. The Wii controller is difficult to use with this game. Full Review »
