Dokapon Kingdom is probably one of the best games to come out on the Wii. Very fun to play with friends, or solo (but I recommend with friends) - and it is a very very long party game. +: Very fun to play with friends and can be both a long game if you go through the story mode, or a single session game if you want something quick. Lots of replayability by changing character classes. Bonus: it has some real voiceovers instead of the heavily reused soundbites in Mario Party. -: Would have been nice to at least have the option of using the Wii pointer function, but not +: Very fun to play with friends and can be both a long game if you go through the story mode, or a single session game if you want something quick. This is a game to play with friends. I'm giving it a 9 because it is a completely multiplayer experience and because the soundtrack and voice acting is very much sbpar, also the graphics are simplistic, but I, personally, find them charming. If you play this by yourself, you'll probably end up frustrated and yelling at the computer. If you play it with friends, you'll have the most fun ever. I am serious when I say I don't think I have ever had this much fun with a game. Much like Monopoly or Risk, it's a friendship destroyer, bu in the best of ways. There will be fun, and there will be backstabbing, which will also be fun when you change your friend's name in revenge. The game takes days to complete in story mode, but you can save anytime, so it works. I'm giving it a 9, but in sheer fun, its an 11, the perfect party game. Expand

Great game, except... No online multiplayer, there's no way I'm buying it. It takes so long to teach other people to play that I rarely get a chance to get into a game properly. If you had friends around regularly it would be good though. But man, if it had online the experience would be so much better. Hopefully they will bring out a sequel with some graphical improvements and Great game, except... No online multiplayer, there's no way I'm buying it. Then I would not only but it but force all my friends too. Expand

Today, I spent around 7 hours playing this amazing game. I don't have any easily accessible friends to play it with, and I still love it. I'm also known in my family for having horrible luck, so it can't be that I'm just lucky. Maybe I just play riskier and go for Strikes way more than the average player? I have no clue. Better yet, the experience is better with people! If only I could get my Dad into these kinds games... Expand

For years, Mario Party and Monopoly fought for the throne of Friendship Ruiners. Then, there arrived a new challenger. A game that would take this throne by unrelenting force. It can destroy friendships, it can separate families, it can even dissolve entire marriages. IT. IS. DOKAPON. DOKAPON. I don't know what you'd call this genre, maybe just simply Friendship Ruiners as mentioned before, but whatever you'd call it, Dokapon Kingdom will always remain at the top, the best one, the absolute. In Mario Party, the game will screw you over while others prosper. In Dokapon Kingdom, you actively impede the success of others, and the game will reward you for doing so. But its not just a Rich-Get-Richer kinda game, the leaderboard can be flipped right on its head as the game provides those in last place with powerful come-back mechanics. This is a game that rewards ruthlessness and bravery, and punishes those that take pity on others and refuse to take risks. Add in a healthy dose of randomness and you have the perfect recipe for mean-spirited disaster and smug favoritism.

Oh, by the way, just so you know, the only difference between the PS2 version of this game and the Wii version, is that the Wii version supports 480p widescreen, whereas the PS2 one does not. Other than that, they are exactly the same.

Dokapon Kingdom is a good video game. It's RPG Mario Party and if that doesn't sound cool to you, you have bad taste.

Very fun, especially with other people. Lots to do, secrets to uncover, and overall a great time. I do wish it had a second manufacturing run, because right now on EBay it is ~150, although this is in no way the game's fault.

It's like DnD, Monopoly, and Mario Party combined. Make sure you have a group of friends and a lot of time because this game takes a while to complete.

Just like most of the other Atlus-published titles out there, it's hitting a smaller niche, but for those that it is aiming at (people that like RPGs, want a light, fun, multiplayer ode to the genre), it's a must-play.

Dokapon Kingdom's perfectly balanced multiplayer, cool aesthetics and pure addictive fun make it a new high-water mark for party games on the Wii.

Don't be fooled by Dokapon Kingdom's childish design: this unique board game-RPG crossover makes it hard not to enjoy yourself. [Dec 2008, p.100]
